Berlin-Brothersvalley never trails in 2A title victory over McCort
'It's just a dream come true,' head coach Rachel Prosser said.
The Mountaineers led 15-0 early and never looked back as Bryn and Coral Prosser led the charge scoring 47 of the team's 62 points. Coral, a sophomore guard, led all players with 35 points and 15 rebounds.
'They were just ready to go,' Rachel said. 'I don't have a rhyme or reason, but we did a good job.'
Bishop McCort, Berlin have plenty of familiarity ahead of PIAA Championship
The win is Berlin's first since 2019. The Prossers were there for that one, too. Coral and Bryn served as managers on their mom's team. That 2019 title was the first for the program, and an inspiration for the girls.
'Ever since I saw it the first time seeing the 2019 girls do it, being a manager, that's like, I want to do that now,' Coral said. 'I want that to be me and my teammates. So that's what happened today.'
The Prosser family plays a significant role in Berlin-Brothersvalley basketball history. The boys team, led by Tanner Prosser (husband and father) and Pace (son and brother) played for titles in 2023 and 2024. But as the girls said following Thursday's win, their family is deeper than blood.
'Our team, they're my sisters. My whole team is my sisters. And the community behind us is the rest of our family,' Coral said. 'So it's a whole family and it's just so special for all of us.'
The matchup between Berlin and Bishop McCort was the first meeting between a district five and six school in the state championship.

Pyrotechnics: Cologne fined almost €160,000 by German FA
Promoted Bundesliga club Cologne have been fined another €159,500 ($185,800) by the German Football Federation (DFB) for the forbidden use of pyrotechnics at matches by their fans. The DFB said on Wednesday that Cologne were fined €93,300 for incidents at a November match at Hertha Berlin, and another 66,200 for the same reason at the home game against Kaiserslautern in Mai where they clinched a return into the top flight. The latter game also saw fans enter the stadium without tickets and a pitch invasion after the final whistle. Cologne can use €51,100 for their own security measures and for the prevention of violence at games. Cologne are repeat offenders and in 2024 alone were fined €630,000 by the DFB.

Germany vs Spain Euro 2025 semi-final odds, prediction: World champions expected to go through
This should be a straightforward result. Spain, the all-conquering world champions, are on the verge of reaching their second straight major final. They've won nine games in a row. At this tournament alone, they've scored a total of 16 goals and conceded just three. They're up against a Germany side that have already been thrashed 4-1 during this tournament and one that scraped through to the semi-finals on penalties. And yet, there is hope for the Germans — enough to make them think they can cause another shock. At this stage of a European Championship, anything can happen. Advertisement Germany — the eight-time winners of this tournament and the two-time world champions — have not won a major trophy for almost 10 years and are going through a tricky spell as they aim to work their way back to the summit of women's football. Against France, they looked down and out. Germany were down to 10 players in the 13th minute after Kathrin Hendrich's moment of madness and down 1-0 against a talented French team that looked like dark horses to win the competition. But the Germans fought tooth and nail to get back level with a numerical disadvantage and did so in the first half through Chelsea's Sjoeke Nüsken. After grinding through extra time with fewer players, they held their nerve to convert six of their seven penalty attempts in the shootout. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger was the hero on the night, making a string of fantastic stops before thwarting Alice Sombath to take Germany through to the last four. Germany faced 10 shots against France and Berger made nine saves. She even scored a penalty herself. Spain, who had a relatively comfortable evening by comparison as they cruised past Switzerland 2-0, might suddenly think that their task against the Germans could be a challenging one after all. The host nation still made Spain work for their victory as they were forced to wait until the 66th minute for the opening goal through substitute Athenea del Castillo, before Claudia Pina made sure of their passage to the semis with the second goal five minutes later. Spain also missed two penalties through Alexia Putellas — one at the start of the game and the other after they had a two-goal cushion. So things aren't looking completely rosy for the 2023 World Cup winners, even though they've won all four of their games at Euro 2025 by at least two goals. There is still some fragility in the foundation — perhaps only small ones — but enough for Germany to possibly exploit if they can put together a smart game plan. At this stage of the tournament, both teams can sense glory. But as France discovered, Germany can be a menace even when their backs are up against the wall. Winning is in their DNA. They're the most successful team in European history and they will put up one hell of a fight. Any missed opportunities against a team like Germany will be punished, so they'll have to step things up. Or indeed, success full stop. The two-time World Cup winners and eight-time Euros champions know how to get the job done on the international stage. They have not won a major trophy since their 2013 Euro triumph however, despite coming close in defeat to England in the 2022 final. This is a new age of German player who have not tasted success of the like that became normal in decades of the past — they will be hungry to go one better than their last Euros showing and pick up the trophy.
