
Security forces arrest seven militants in Manipur
Three members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) were apprehended from Pangal Basti in Tengnoupal district on Sunday. The arrested individuals were identified as Khumanthem Umakanta Singh (36), Pukhrambam Naoton Singh (22) and Soibam Bargil Meitei (23).
In a separate operation on Monday, four cadres of the proscribed United Peoples' Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) were arrested from Koirengei Chingol Leikai in Imphal East district. Police identified them as Nishan Ngangbam (24), Laishangbam Roshan Singh (35), Chungkham Kiran Meitei (21) and Chandam Ratan Meitei (41).
Authorities said all seven militants were involved in extorting money from local businesses. The arrests were made based on specific intelligence inputs, police added.
In a significant development, security forces recovered a major arms haul during raids in Tingkai Khullen, Maohing and Changoubung villages of Kangpokpi district on Monday. The seized weapons included an INSAS rifle, a .303 rifle, a lathode, a .32 pistol, four bolt-action rifles, an M16 rifle, an MA1 assault rifle, a sniper rifle, seven single-barrel rifles and four hand grenades, police said

J&K: Agniveer dies in Poonch mine blast, JCO among 2 injured
An Agniveer was killed and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) among two were injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of Poonch district, officials said on Friday. Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT regiment sustained critical injuries and died in the blast, officials said . Soldier killed in landmine blast in J&K's Poonch
An Army soldier was killed and two others were injured in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday (July 25, 2025). A spokesman of the Army's White Knight Corps said Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT Regiment made the supreme sacrifice while on an area domination patrol in general area of Krishna Ghati brigade following a mine blast. 'We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,' the Army said. A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was among the injured. The injured have been identified as Naib Subedar Hari Ram and Havaldar Gajendra Singh. Officials said the injured were immediately evacuated and airlifted to Army Base Hospital Udhampur for advanced treatment. The incident took place around 12:15 p.m. near Victor Post of the Indian Army at village Salotri in Haveli tehsil when an M16 anti-personnel mine exploded during patrolling.
