Emmerdale twist in ITVX release as Joe agrees to double cross another villager

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. A very desperate Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) has been backed into a corner by Doctor Eddie Crowley (James Hillier) in Emmerdale. A couple of days ago, Joe discovered that Crowley is Kim Tate's (Claire King) new boyfriend. He had to do his best to keep a straight face in the reveal moment, and not tell Kim and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) that Crowley was responsible for holding him hostage, and performing the illegal kidney transplant operation earlier this year. Joe held his own so he could discover what Crowley was really up to. When they were alone, Joe learnt that Crowley plans to steal all of Kim's money, and needs his help to do it. Betraying Kim was the last thing Joe wanted to do, but it seemed as though he didn't have any choice. In this evening's episode, Joe attempted to scare Eddie away by confronting him in the stables with a shotgun. With a variety of crimes already under his belt, it was no surprise that Joe couldn't go through with shooting the dodgy surgeon. Crowley reminded Joe that he really didn't have a choice but to help him with the plan. More Trending Joe already knows what Crowley is capable of, so he was fully aware that he'd report him to the police for the kidney operation, spiking of Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) and the limo crash, if he refused to co-operate. Stressed and worried, Joe told Eddie that evening that he'd spoken to Kim about a business proposition – which is obviously made up. He hoped that the promise of the money would be enough to make Eddie leave, but he's been in this game a long time it would seem – he isn't going anywhere until the cash is in his bank account. EastEnders legend says ‘life is good' as she addresses unemployment

EastEnders legend Charlie Brooks has revealed the 'joys of unemployment' after leaving the BBC soap in 2022. Charlie has played Janine Butcher on and off since 1999, and her dramatic last tenure saw her tear Mick and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) apart before marrying him herself. However, she ended up being sent to prison for perverting the court of justice, after her cruel plot against Linda was uncovered. Janine had framed Linda for drink driving but was caught red-handed disposing of evidence in the back of a photograph. When the truth was revealed on Christmas Day, a dramatic car chase ensued, resulting in Mick, Linda and Janine all plummeting into the sea after driving off a cliff. While Linda and Janine got out safely, Mick wasn't so lucky, and has been missing at sea ever since. Having kept herself busy for a long time, she is now taking time to enjoy unemployment. Taking to Instagram she wrote: 'Life is good. As someone who is generally validated by work…Turns out being at home, chilling with my dog, taking long walks, reforming, reading and actually getting to hang out with my friends doing everything and nothing makes me really f***ing happy.' This follows on from an earlier post in June, where she revealed that the 'joys of unemployment' meant 'Getting to watch Martha Wainwright at union chapel with my gorgeous friend for belated birthday celebrations'. She went on to add: 'Having time to read her book. Martha was everything and more. Thank you.' Since leaving EastEnders, Charlie has appeared on Dancing On Ice and in the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, taking on the role of the iconic childcatcher. More Trending Earlier this year, Charlie addressed the possibility of a return to the BBC soap for its 40th anniversary, but ruled it out before teasing what is her future plans. 'I'm going straight back into Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for a while, and then I probably need a little bit of time off,' she told The Mirror in January. 'And then we're in talks about another theatre project at the moment, so I don't know yet. I'm biding my time. So who knows.' View More » This article was originally published on 2nd June 2025. Emmerdale's John Middleton joins rival soap for 'evil' role

The actor, who played the lovely village vicar, Ashley Thomas, on the ITV show from 1996 until 2017, is set to appear on Hollyoaks as a mob boss. He left the Yorkshire Dales after his character suffered a harrowing dementia storyline. Before taking on his most famous role as Ashley, he originally appeared in Emmerdale as PC John Jarvis briefly. Discussing the new role on Hollyoaks for the ITV actor, a source said: "People usually think of Ashley when they see John, but that won't be happening any more, Fraser is about as far away from the kindly vicar you can get." Talking with The Sun, they added: "He's possibly the most evil character Hollyoaks has ever had - and for a village plagued by serial killers, that's saying something. Fraser will make his entrance very soon, and he's got more than one connection to the village with his twisted family already there.' When he joins the Channel 4 programme in the near future, fans will quickly come to know him as the father of notorious villain, Fraser Black, played by Jesse Birdsall. A post shared by Colin Boulter (@neilson_photo_actors) This character terrorised residents on the show before being murdered in 2014. A 'whodunnit' storyline, which went on for several months after his death, revealed that he was shot by his very own stepson, Freddie Roscoe (played by Charlie Clapham). He is also the grandfather of shady Hollyoaks characters like Clare Devine, Grace Black and Rex Gallagher. According to IMDb, the 71-year-old actor from Bradford has starred in a number of shows beyond Emmerdale. From 1993 until 1995, he starred in four episodes of Coronation Street as John Hargreaves, the man who knocked down and killed Lisa Duckworth, and Mr. Mitchell, a hospital consultant. He was also in two episodes of The Gambling Man and even appeared as Tony Warren in the 1998 TV movie The Things You Do for Love: Against the Odds. In 2021, he appeared in the medical programme Doctors.
