Assamese actor Nandini Kashyap appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Kamrup on Friday, after being arrested in relation to a horrific hit-and-run event in Guwahati that killed a 21-year-old engineering student.
Her two-day police custody came to an end, leading to the next legal step in the ongoing investigation.
Police oppose bail, seek further custody
As per an IANS report, the investigative agency is expected to oppose Kashyap's bail plea and will seek extended custody to further probe the matter.
The victim, Samiul Haque, a young engineering student, had sustained critical injuries after he was reportedly hit by Kashyap's car in the early hours of July 26 in Guwahati's Dakshingaon area.
The actress fled the scene without attempting to help the injured student, an act that has drawn heavy criticism.
Haque succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday evening, prompting authorities to take Kashyap into custody later that night. Initially, Kashyap was questioned by the police on the morning of the incident and was let go on a Personal Recognisance (PR) bond. However, following the death of the victim, a fresh round of questioning led to her arrest.

Apple Music for Android gets this iOS 26 music feature

Apple has rolled out Apple Music 5.0 beta for Android users, introducing several key features from iOS 26 including AI-powered lyrics translation , music pinning capabilities, and redesigned interface elements. The update brings Android users closer to feature parity with their iOS counterparts, though the highly anticipated Liquid Glass visual redesign remains exclusive to Apple devices. The beta version introduces lyrics translation and pronunciation guides, leveraging artificial intelligence to help users understand and sing along to songs across different languages. This feature mirrors the Apple Intelligence-powered functionality available on iPhones, though it will likely utilize Google's AI technology on Android devices. Users can now pin their favorite music directly to the top of their Library for quick access. The pinning feature supports individual songs, entire albums, playlists, and artists, with automatic download options available. These pins sync across all Apple devices, ensuring a consistent experience whether users switch between Android and iOS platforms. Visual updates include new pill-shaped buttons replacing the previous rounded rectangular design for play, shuffle, and repeat controls throughout the app. These buttons appear prominently at the top of albums, playlists, and queue screens, creating a more modern interface aesthetic. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 75% off LeafFilter installation LeafFilter Gutter Protection Learn More Undo The update also brings in-app Replay statistics , allowing users to view their monthly and yearly listening habits without leaving the application. This feature provides detailed insights into music consumption patterns and favorite tracks. However, Android users will miss out on the complete Liquid Glass redesign that transforms the iOS 26 experience, and there's no confirmation that AutoMix – the advanced crossfade feature with DJ-style transitions – will arrive on the platform. Apple has not indicated whether future updates will address these omissions. AI Masterclass for Students. Upskill Young Ones Today!– Join Now
