Dave Grohl 'spotted' at Glastonbury as anticipation builds for Neil Young's set
Glastonbury 2025 has kicked off this week and music enthusiasts can expect to see some of their favourite musicians across the festival
All eyes will be on Neil Young tonight as he headlines the Pyramid stage - and speculation is raging if the rocker will bring out any special guests. Rumours are sweeping the festival - especially after unconfirmed reports Dave Grohl was spotted on site.
The Foo Fighters front man is a massive Young fan and credits the rocker as inspiring his previous band Nirvana. Grohl has said previously: "Not only is Neil a hero today because he's always walked it like he's talked it, and he has the history and integrity of a real legend, he's amazing, but, he's an incredible songwriter."
Could anyone else take to the stage with Neil? Well some fans wonder whether Jon Bon Jovi could make an appearance after spotting him at Queen's Club for the tennis last week.
The star has covered Young's song Rockin in the Free World before, and like Grohl, is a huge fan of the Canadian legend. Bon Jovi has form for duets - he was due to join Bruce Springsteen on stage at his BST Hyde Park show in London in 2023, but had to pull out after recovering from vocal surgery.
Of course, Neil is playing BST too in two weeks - so could any potential Glastonbury duet be a warm-up to that too. While the BBC iPlayer is geared up to stream live from the main five stages, Neil Young's act was not expected to air – but that has since changed.
A BBC spokesperson previously said: "On Saturday on BBC iPlayer, our Glastonbury Channel and five streams for the main stages will bring a range of live performances to audiences."
They added: "At the artist's request, we won't be livestreaming Neil Young's set. Our plans, including those for our TV highlights shows and on-demand coverage, continue to be finalised right up to and during the festival."
But, the star later had a change of heart as a BBC spokesperson later told the Mirror: "We are delighted to confirm that Neil Young's headline set from Glastonbury on Saturday will be broadcast live to audiences across the UK on the BBC."
BBC iPlayer is due to offer over 90 hours of performances over the festival with live streams from the five main stages - Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Woodsies and The Park.
This means that viewers are able to create their own list of must-see acts and plan their weekend watching schedule. Sets from the Pyramid Stage will be available to stream live in Ultra High Definition and in British Sign Language.
While those who prefer to listen on the radio can tune into BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds.
Saturday's line-up has a mystery act listed as 'Patchwork' performing from 6.15pm to 7.15pm on the Pyramid Stages. Speculation is rife that it could be anyone from Haim to Pulp to Chappell Roan but no one has been confirmed yet.

Many took the cheeky jab at himself to be a swipe at Taylor Swift's 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is l ong believed to be about their relationship. Matty and Taylor are believed to have dated from March to May in 2023, before splitting. In lyrics on the album, Taylor made several allusions to a mystery man who broke her heard, at one point saying he "smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate". The titular track also refers to the man using a typewriter - which Matty has gone on record to using. Seeming to confirm he was the man behind the songs, Matty finished his speech on the stage at Glastonbury by "reminding people of his poetry" by going into their song Chocolate. The 1975's Matty Healy slammed by fans for performing with pint and a fag as parents ban kids from watching_1 He further mocked himself and the song's non-sensical lyrics by having jumbled subtitles play overhead as they played. Since Matty and Taylor's split, both have gone to have long-term relationships. Matty is now engaged to model Gabbriette, with the pair sharing the news in June 2024. Charli XCX accused of 'miming' at Glastonbury as famous face appears in set
Charli XCX took to the Other Stage at Worthy Farm as the final headliner on Saturday - and she certainly worked the Glastonbury crowd. In comparison to a sparse looking turnout for Neil Young, Charli was treated to a bumper audience as she left little to the imagination in her energetic performance. Taking to the stage in a black crop top and skimpy paints, she seductively teased the crowd and cameras. However, with those in attendance lapping up the display, it appears viewers at home weren't as impressed. Taking to Twitter/X, some fans blasted the singer for seemingly miming. One user fumed: "Oh ffs can't watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. Could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing." Another added: "Predictable but shame nonetheless that charli xcx can't sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE." And a third said: "Charli xcx Embarressing [sic]that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing…" "What part of Charli XCX is 'live music' ? The Smiths (1984): One of the first bands to divide the early Glastonbury purists were Manchester indie stars The Smiths. The band's set even sparked a full scale stage invasion as they introduced the crowd to their guitar-driven, post-punk romanticism music. The Fence (2002): It wasn't a band or musician that sparked controversy in 2002... it was a fence. Diehard Glasto fans, however, felt it was at odds with the event's hippy ethos of peace and love. Eavis and co refused to back down, though, and the fence remains in place today. JAY-Z (2008): Despite its long history, Glastonbury had never welcomed a rapper for a headline set - until 2008. Jay-Z's top bill booking was met with a flurry of digs, including some from Oasis's Noel Gallagher, who claimed hip hop had no place at the festival. In a perfect clap-back, Jay-Z walked out to a version of Wonderwall before launching into his powerful hit 99 problems. Seven years later, his pal Kanye West followed in his Glastonbury footsteps and topped the bill. Metallica (2014): Thrash metal rockers Metallica were met with raised eyebrows when they were announced as Glastonbury headliners. Some critics claimed they lacked mainstream appeal, while others felt they were past their prime. However, frontman James Hetfield managed to quickly win the crowd round thanks to his good humour and polite manners. Adele (2016): Although Adele wowed both festival goers and music fans at home with her headliner set, the British songstress did cause a stir by turning the air blue. She warned the crowd about her "potty mouth" but not everyone was impressed with with the 30 plus expletives she dropped on the stage during her headline set, which aired on the BBC. And a sixth added: "Since iPlayer is so useless this weekend you only have what's on BBC One and Two of #Glastonbury."
