CAIRO – 13 June 2025: Following the Israeli military strikes against Iran on Friday, Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed that the situation is being closely monitored.
The Prime Minister added that coordination is underway between Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Hassan Abdullah and Minister of Finance and Ahmed Kouchouk to increase the strategic stockpile of key commodities.
Madbouly also said that a meeting will be held with the Ministers of Electricity and Petroleum to assess potential scenarios and implications resulting from the military developments in the region.
Egypt strongly condemned the military strikes carried out by the Israeli army against Iran in the early hours of June 13, 2025.
'These attacks represent a blatant and extremely dangerous escalation in the region, a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a direct threat to both regional and international peace and security,' the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
'Egypt is following these rapid developments with deep concern and firmly denounces this unjustified act, which will only exacerbate the crisis and risks triggering a broader regional conflict. Such escalation could have unprecedented consequences for the region's security and stability, endangering its peoples and threatening to plunge the entire Middle East into widespread chaos,' the statement continued.
Egypt reiterated its position that the crises facing the region cannot be resolved through military means, but rather through political and peaceful solutions. The Ministry stressed that the use of force will not bring security to any country, including Israel. True security, it emphasized, can only be achieved by respecting state sovereignty, preserving the unity and territorial integrity of nations, delivering justice, and ending the Israeli occupation of Arab lands.
Israel has just carried out airstrikes on several Iranian cities, inclduing nuclear sites, in the early hours of June 13, 2025, killing dozens of Iranian nuclear scientists and military leaders.
The Israeli army said in a statement on Friday that it luanhced a 'preemptive strike against Iran's Nuclear Program' with more than 200 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, operating with precise intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, conducted coordinated strikes on over 100 targets across Iran. Israeli media outlets reported that the Israeli operation against Iran could last for weeks amid Iranian threat of a severe retaliation.
Iranian military leaders killed in the Israeli airstrikes include Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian General Staff, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid. The Khatam al Anbiya Headquarters is a Unified Combatant Command Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, operating under the direct command of the General Staff, is responsible for planning and coordinating joint military operations across all branches of Iran's armed forces. Also, Hossein Salami, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the airstrikes.
Besides killing civilians inlcuding women and children, six nuclear sceintists were killed in the israeli airstrike; Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Friday that the scientists killed included Fereydoun Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, a prominent physicist and president of Islamic Azad University.
Several world countries, inlcuding, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, and Oman- the broker of the US/Iranian talks on the Iranian nucleary program- condemned the Israeli attacks, saying these blatant attacks violate the interntaional laws. Additionally, several countries suspended their flights to and from Iran and Israel.

Gaza truce talks to resume in Doha before Netanyahu heads to US - War on Gaza

Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are set to resume Sunday in Doha for a Gaza truce and captive release deal, ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House. Netanyahu had earlier announced he was sending a team to Qatar, a key mediator in the conflict, though he said Hamas's response to a draft US-backed ceasefire deal contained 'unacceptable' demands. Under mounting pressure to end the war, now approaching its 22nd month, Netanyahu is scheduled to meet on Monday with US President Donald Trump, who has been making a renewed push to end the war. A Palestinian official familiar with the talks and close to Hamas said international mediators had informed the group that 'a new round of indirect negotiations... will begin in Doha today'. The group's delegation, led by its top negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, had already arrived in the Qatari capital, the official told AFP. On Friday, Hamas had said it was ready 'to engage immediately and seriously' in negotiations. Netanyahu, who confirmed Israeli negotiators were also en route, said that 'the changes that Hamas is seeking to make in the Qatari proposal... are unacceptable to Israel'. Hamas has not publicly disclosed its response to the US-backed proposal, relayed by mediators from Qatar and Egypt. In Tel Aviv on Saturday, protesters gathered for a weekly rally demanding the return of captives held in Gaza. 'Enough' Two Palestinian sources close to the discussions told AFP the proposal included a 60-day truce, during which Hamas would release 10 living captives and several bodies in exchange for Palestinians detained by Israel. However, they said, the group was also demanding certain conditions for Israel's withdrawal, guarantees against a resumption of fighting during negotiations, and the return of the UN-led aid distribution system. On the ground, Gaza's civil defence agency said 14 people were killed by Israeli forces on Sunday. The agency said 10 were killed in a pre-dawn strike on Gaza City's Sheikh Radawn neighbourhood, where AFP images showed Palestinians searching through the rubble for survivors with their bare hands. Sheikh Radawn resident Osama al-Hanawi told AFP: 'The rest of the family is still under the rubble.' 'We are losing young people, families and children every day, and this must stop now. Enough blood has been shed.' Since the war started, mediators have brokered two temporary halts in fighting, during which captives were freed in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody. Of the 251 captives, 49 are still held in Gaza, including 27 the Israeli military says are dead. Recent efforts to broker a new truce have repeatedly failed, with the primary point of contention being Israel's rejection of Hamas's demand for a lasting ceasefire. 'Dying for flour' The war has created dire humanitarian conditions for the more than two million people in the Gaza Strip. Karima al-Ras, from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, said 'we hope that a truce will be announced' to allow in more aid. 'People are dying for flour,' she said. A US- and Israel-backed group, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, took the lead in food distribution in the territory in late May, when Israel partially lifted a more than two-month blockade on aid deliveries. UN agencies and major aid groups have refused to cooperate with the GHF over concerns it was designed to cater to Israeli military objectives. UN human rights office spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said Friday that more than 500 people have been killed waiting to access food from GHF distribution points. Israel's war on Gaza has killed at least 57,418 people in Gaza, mostly women and children. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Hezbollah says it will not disarm under Israeli pressure - Region

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the group would not lay down its weapons in response to Israeli threats amid mounting pressure on the Lebanese movement to disarm following last year's war. Speaking during a televised address to mark Ashura on Saturday, Qassem insisted that Hezbollah's armed wing would not disband unless Israel halts its military operations and meets the terms of a ceasefire agreement signed last November. 'Threats will not make us surrender,' Qassem said. 'Don't tell us to soften our positions — tell the aggressor to stop. Don't ask us to abandon our weapons.' Qassem said Israel must abide by the ceasefire agreement, 'withdraw from the occupied territories, stop its aggression... release the prisoners' detained during last year's war, and that reconstruction in Lebanon must begin. Only after these steps are taken, he said, would Hezbollah 'be ready for the second stage, which is to discuss national security and defence strategy.' The remarks came ahead of a planned visit by US envoy Tom Barrack on Monday, who has been pressuring Beirut to disarm Hezbollah as part of a broader push to stabilize the Israel–Lebanon border. Qassem rejected the American proposal presented during Barrack's previous visit on 19 June, calling it 'a surrender paper.' 'We will not be part of legitimizing the occupation of Lebanon or the region,' Qassem added. 'We reject normalization, which we see as surrender and humiliation.' Qassem also denounced the 'ongoing aggression, killings, and crimes by Israel and the United States,' saying, 'Israel is the problem, not the resistance. The resistance is part of the solution. The continued existence of Israel is the real crisis.' He concluded, 'We will not accept to live in Lebanon as if we were in a giant prison.' Qassem's speech was delivered as thousands of Hezbollah supporters marched through Beirut's southern suburbs to mark Ashura, waving Lebanese, Palestinian and Iranian flags alongside banners bearing the group's insignia. Many also held up images of former Hezbollah commander Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut in September. Lebanese officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP that the government is preparing a formal response to the US disarmament proposal, due by the end of the year. They also said Hezbollah's military positions in southern Lebanon are being dismantled — though Israel has continued its strikes in the area, citing ongoing threats. Under the terms of the November ceasefire, Hezbollah was to withdraw its fighters north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometres from the Israeli border, while Israel was to pull its troops from Lebanese territory. Israeli forces remain deployed at five border positions. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Trump Criticizes Immigration Policies

Ahmed Emam U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States risks becoming a 'bankrupt third-world country' if current immigration policies continue. Speaking about a proposed tax bill, Trump said the legislation would allocate additional funding to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), underscoring what he described as the urgent need to secure America's borders and enforce immigration laws. 'We will not allow America to become a Third World country,' Trump declared, accusing the current administration of endangering national security and economic stability through its handling of immigration. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
