Kangana Ranaut reacts to Hindi vs Marathi row as Raj Thackeray's MNS sparks debate
Speaking to NDTV, the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi said, "We must stay away from anything that divides our country. People in our country try to connect with each other in different ways. Such actions disrupt their efforts."
"We must preserve the spirit of unity in the country. People should not be divided in the name of language," Kangana Ranaut said while referring to the Hindi vs Marathi row in Mumbai.
Her comments were made against the backdrop of the controversy over Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers assaulting a shopkeeper and even allegedly attempting to vandalise a businessman's office for not speaking Marathi or refusing to learn the language.

MNS workers allegedly told the shopkeeper not to live in Maharashtra if he didn't know Marathi. "If you don't speak in Marathi, we will beat everyone and drive them away, and we will break and burn down your shop,' they said.
Earlier on Friday, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis sternly warned that the state would not tolerate hooliganism in the name of language.
'Having pride in the Marathi language is not wrong, but if someone engages in hooliganism in the name of language, we will not tolerate it,' Fadnavis told reporters. "If anyone resorts to violence based on language, it will not be tolerated."
He expressed surprise at people easily accepting English and creating a fuss over Hindi. Fadnavis reiterated that strict action will be taken against those who take the law into their own hands.

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut visited the cloudburst-affected areas of her constituency, Mandi, on Sunday, to take stock of the ongoing relief efforts and interact with the local residents.
She said that the Centre immediately sent forces to the region to help with the relief operation. "Even though the Prime Minister is on a foreign visit, but he is informed of what is happening here, and the central government has swung into action. As an MP, it is my job to bring in funds and convey the ground reality to the government," she told news agency ANI.
As many as 14 people have died and 31 others remain missing as flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides wreaked havoc in Mandi earlier this week.
Ranaut also visited the Thunag subdivision in Mandi as a massive trail of destruction was left behind by heavy rainfall across Himachal.
The most affected areas in the state are the Thunag subdivision, Karsog Gohar subdivision and Dharampur subdivision, and DC Mandi.

Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Subhash Kumar Patwari remarked that a murder in a densely populated area like Gandhi Maidan is an open challenge to the police administration. "The chamber demands action against anti-social elements disrupting the state's environment and the arrest of those involved in the murder," he said.

CM performs Mahapuja with warkari couple at Pandharpur temple on Ashadhi Ekadashi
Kohapur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife, Amruta, along with Kailas Damu Ugle and his wife, Kalpana, a warkari couple from Jategaon in Nashik district, performed the Mahapuja of Lord Vitthal and Rukhmini at the Pandharpur temple on Ashadhi Ekadashi early on Sunday. According to a longstanding tradition, a selected warkari couple is given the opportunity to receive darshan and perform Mahapuja rituals alongside the chief minister on Ashadhi Ekadashi. This year, the Ugles were chosen. The warkari couple received a free state transport pass for a year from Fadnavis. More than 20 lakh warkaris, a pilgrim sect, had reached the temple town for Ashadi Ekadashi. After the Mahapuja, Fadnavis said he prayed for the welfare of farmers. When questioned about reports of left-wing extremists infiltrating the annual wari (pilgrimage), Fadnavis said participating in the wari with a wrong agenda is inappropriate. "I prayed to Lord Vitthal to help farmers achieve a bountiful yield and ensure their welfare. Also, I sought strength and righteousness to work for the development of the state," the CM said. "People participate in the wari with only one thought in mind, which is to meet Vitthal and get his darshan. If someone participates with a wrong agenda, it is wrong," he added. Fadnavis was responding to allegations by a Mahayuti MLC that left extremist-minded people and atheists have infiltrated the wari. Recently, a right-wing group demanded the cessation of the "sarkarikaran" of temples. Fadnavis said the existing law for temple management cannot be called "sarkarikaran". Regarding opposition to the Pandharpur temple corridor plan, the CM said, "The administration has extensively held talks with local shop operators and residents of Pandharpur town. In no way will the plan be taken forward without consultation with the locals. Nobody's livelihood will be destroyed." Fadnavis commended the administration's efforts to reduce darshan time by five hours and ensure a nirmal wari by thoroughly cleaning the town. Typically, it takes approximately 12-16 hours for warkaris to receive darshan. This time, the administration employed AI-enabled cameras to monitor turnout and anticipated more than 23 lakh attendees during Ashadhi Ekadashi and the following day.

CM: Implementation process of Tiprasa Accord underway
Agartala: A day after BJP's junior partner in Tripura govt TIPRA Motha threatened to withdraw support from the govt for not implementing the promises, chief minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the implementation process of the Tiprasa (tribal) Accord is underway. "I am in regular touch with Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman about the issues related to their demands. The Prime Minister is very much concerned about the development of tribals in the country and our leaders have a special feeling towards royal family," he said. His remarks came in response to TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma's statement, accusing both the state and central govts of inaction regarding the Accord's implementation and threat of withdrawing support from the BJP-led govt. Saha termed Ranjit's statement as an internal matter of their party. "I don't think I should comment on that. I haven't received anything officially in writing. I can say that the process of implementing the Tiprasa Accord is ongoing," the CM said while speaking on the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Sunday. Addressing media, TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Saturday said they have extended support to the govt following some conditions but none of them were fulfilled. Despite the high court order, the state govt has not conducted village council election, two seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) were vacant for long time. Meanwhile, a TIPRA Motha delegation on Saturday began a foot march for Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding push back of illegal Bangladeshi nationals who came here after 1971.
