Anne Burrell's Food Network co-star reveals haunting final conversation with tragic chef before death at 55
Burrell — who famously hosted Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosted Worst Cooks in America — died at her Brooklyn, New York apartment on Tuesday - with harrowing new details of her demise recently released.
Restaurateur Melba Wilson spoke with Burrell the week before her sudden death and said the star seemed 'healthy, vibrant and beautiful' with no signs of illness - amid reports the star went into 'cardiac arrest.'
She told TMZ: 'Anne never mentioned anything about being sick. That's why this is such a shock to us. She was healthy. She was vibrant. She was beautiful.
'If you saw Anne, Anne could light up any room she walked into. So to know that she went to sleep and just didn't wake up is heartbreaking.
'Fifty five, this is not supposed to happen to a healthy 55-year-old. It's unbelievable to know that someone so vibrant and full of life is no longer with us.
Recalling her birthday party a few weeks before Burrell's death, Wilson said: 'Anne was fine. We talked about karaoke because we love to do karaoke'. adding the star 'loved games, dancing and backgammon.
'I think this is a tough time for so many of us that knew Anne and that loved her... it was totally unexpected.'
The pair first met on Beat Bobby Flay, with Wilson saying Burrell's legacy was 'laughter.'
Wilson reflected on Burrell's final charitable act when she helped her give away turkeys to New Yorkers during Thanksgiving 2024.
This comes after Burrell's celebrity chef friend Flay shared an emotional tribute.
Flay, 60, posted a photo of Anne cuddling two of her cats as he revealed the most memorable token she gave him.
'The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)… a gift that I'll have forever,' he said in reference to his pet cat Nacho.
Noting Burrell's Food Network series, which he guest-starred on for four seasons, he said, 'Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside for the Anne Burrell ride.'
The end of the heartfelt tribute read: '#unforgettable.'

Burrell's impact on Flay was evident on Father's Day as he raved about being a 'cat dad.'
Sharing clips of his orange-colored feline in a joint post with his cat food business, Made By Nacho, he wrote, 'The recipe for Made by Nacho: Take one chef, add lifelong cat obsession, simmer for decades ✨ This is what cat-dad-since-forever looks like.'
The two chefs had a shared love for their animals, with Burrell often posting images of her cats online as well.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Burrell was found unresponsive and lying on the shower floor by her husband Stuart Claxton early Tuesday morning.
Claxton reportedly last saw his wife alive at approximately 1AM, before finding her unconscious in their bathroom six or seven hours later.
Anne's cause of death has not yet been reported by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, and an investigation is ongoing.
'Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,' her family said in a statement obtained by DailyMail.com Tuesday.
'Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal,' they shared.

A Food Network spokesperson added, 'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.
'Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.'
The TV chef, recognized by her trademark spiky platinum hair, is survived by Claxton, whom she wed in October 2021 in her hometown of Cazenovia, New York.
Other surviving family members are her mother Marlene, sister Jane, brother Ben, and her children Isabella, Amelia and Nicolas.
After earning a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College in Buffalo in 1991, she enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, graduating in 1996.
She was later thrust into the spotlight as she became known as the longtime host of Worst Cooks in America.

Michelle Pfeiffer APOLOGIZES for attacking Bill Gates and suggesting he planned to contaminate food supply
Iconic actress Michelle Pfeiffer has apologized to billionaire Bill Gates after she accused him of planning to contaminate America's food supply. Pfeiffer took to Instagram to walk back comments that she made earlier this month, apologizing for expressing concerns over the FDA 's approval of Apeel, a Gates-backed food coating meant to extend the shelf life of produce. She said at the time: 'Apeel (an edible, plant-based coating designed to extend the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables) was just approved and now "organic" produce is coated in something we cannot see or wash off.' 'Very concerning,' she added. In an Instagram story on Thursday, the actress admitted that 'it turns out that I unintentionally reposted inaccurate and outdated information' about the product. The normally low-key actress, 67, surprised many with her attack on the Microsoft founder, in which she also claimed that 'organic produce is no longer safe' due to Gates' efforts. Apeel has long been mired in controversy over its ingredients and association with Gates. The company was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur James Rogers with the help of a $100,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Gates' are not currently involved in Apeel, which has received substantial backing from venture capitalist Andreessen Horowitz. Pfeiffer previously expressed concerns over the FDA's approval of Apeel, a Gates-backed food coating meant to extend the shelf life of produce

Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose passionately kisses her girlfriend after celebrating two year anniversary
Lily-Rose Depp packed on the PDA with her girlfriend 070 Shake after a romantic dinner date in Beverly Hills on Wednesday evening. During a night out on the town, the 26-year-old actress was spotted kissing the rapper as they stepped out of celebrity hotspot, E Baldi, in Beverly Hills. Depp and her girlfriend of over two years appeared to be in high spirits as they walked out with big smiles on both of their faces after enjoying dinner together at the Italian restaurant. It has been three months since they have been seen together in public. During their last public outing, Depp narrowly avoided an awkward run-in with her ex-boyfriend Timothee Chalamet and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner as they both attended the same basketball game with their respective partners. For their romantic date this week, the Nosferatu star and 070 Shake, born Danielle Balbuena, sported casual-chic attire. The nepo baby daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis bundled up in a navy blue, fitted sweater layered over a dark gray halter top. She looked effortlessly stylish as she sported a pair of straight-leg, baggy jeans teamed with black ballet flats. The Idol star also carried a baby blue Chanel tote bag paired with matching, dainty gold jewelry for her date night look. She appeared to be sporting little to no makeup and tied her blonde hair up in a messy bun. At her side, the musician — whom Depp started dating back in early 2023 — looked effortlessly stylish in a bright blue sweater paired with pinstriped pants and platform boots. At one point while exiting the restaurant, the pair stopped to gaze into each other's eyes as they lingered in a special moment. Depp put her hands around her girlfriend's face before pulling her in for a kiss. Depp previously dated the Chalamet for two years after they played love interests in David Michôd's 2019 historical epic The King. She started dating 070 Shake in early 2023, confirming their romance when they went Instagram official later that same year. In April, she managed to avoid an awkward reunion with her ex at a Lakers game — just shortly after they almost had another run in at the Oscars in March. At the time, Depp was on stage presenting an award while her ex-boyfriend Timothée was sitting in the front row with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner. However, the pair appeared to take leave from their seats as Depp joined a slew of actresses to present the award to Wicked's Paul Tazewell. Minutes before, Chalamet was seen leading his beloved away hand-in-hand during a commercial break. When winner Tazewell made his way up to the stage, the camera panned the front row, with the couple no longer in their seats. The video was posted on the actor's fan account on TikTok and shared by eagle-eyed viewers who questioned where they had gone. Depp and Chalamet's relationship was relatively private, and fans only found out they had split when the star described himself as 'currently single' in 2020. He once acknowledged their romance during an interview with GQ in which he recalled feeling embarrassed when photos of them kissing on a yacht were made public. 'I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life,' he said. 'I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, "That was great." 'And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale? And then people are like, "This is a PR stunt." A PR stunt?! Do you think I'd want to look like that in front of all of you?!'

Google loses US appeal over app store reforms in Epic Games case
July 31 (Reuters) - Alphabet's Google (GOOGL.O), opens new tab on Thursday failed to persuade a U.S. appeals panel to overturn a jury verdict and federal court order requiring the technology company to revamp its app store Play. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in a unanimous ruling, rejected, opens new tab claims from Google that the trial judge made legal errors in the antitrust case that unfairly benefited "Fortnite" maker Epic Games, which filed the lawsuit in 2020. Epic accused Google of monopolizing how consumers access apps on Android devices and pay for transactions within apps. The Cary, North Carolina-based company convinced a San Francisco jury in 2023 that Google illegally stifled competition. U.S. District Judge James Donato in San Francisco ordered Google in October to restore competition by allowing users to download rival app stores within its Play store and by making Play's app catalog available to those competitors, among other reforms. Donato's order was on hold pending the outcome of the 9th Circuit appeal. The court's decision can be appealed to the full 9th Circuit and ultimately to the U.S. Supreme Court. In a statement, Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google's vice president of regulatory affairs, said the appeals court's ruling "will significantly harm user safety, limit choice, and undermine the innovation that has always been central to the Android ecosystem." The company said it would continue to focus on "ensuring a secure platform as we continue our appeal." Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said in a social media post: "Thanks to the verdict, the Epic Games Store for Android will be coming to the Google Play Store!" Google told the appeals court that the tech company's Play store competes with Apple's (AAPL.O), opens new tab App Store, and that Donato unfairly barred Google from making that point to contest Epic's antitrust claims. The tech company also argued that a jury should never have heard Epic's lawsuit because it sought to enjoin Google's conduct — a request normally decided by a judge — and not collect damages. Epic has defended the verdict and court injunction, telling the 9th Circuit judges that the Android app market has been "suffering under anti-competitive behavior for the better part of a decade." In the trial court and in the appeal, Epic disputed arguments by Google that changes to its app business ordered by the court would harm user privacy and security. Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab filed a brief backing Epic, as did the U.S. Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission. Epic separately is battling Apple over a U.S. judge's order requiring the iPhone maker to give developers greater freedom to steer consumers to make purchases outside its App Store. Apple has appealed a ruling that said it violated a prior injunction in a lawsuit that Epic filed in 2020.
