Aamir Khan Wants Audience To Support Unique Stories For This Reason

Aamir Khan said that the filmmakers focus on the genre audiences want to watch as he reflected on the importance of supporting "unique stories.' Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par opened to mostly positive reviews and decent box-office collections upon its release on June 20. The sports drama, directed by RS Prasanna, has struck a chord with the fans' hearts for its emotional plot and fresh narrative. As viewers continue to pour love for the movie, Aamir has opened up about the importance of supporting 'unique stories". He also emphasised the fact that filmmakers should not be restricted to only one type of genre. He stressed that they should explore more. Aamir Khan, in an interview with Pinkvilla, advocated the need to encourage unique storylines, saying, 'People love stories. All kinds of stories. If you only support action films, that's all filmmakers will make. And then you will have to watch only action movies in theatres. If you like all types of films and want to watch all types of films, go to the theatres. Your support gives creators the freedom to tell diverse stories." The actor added, 'Studios often command us to make a certain kind of film, and we have to follow. But when audiences back unique stories, it gives us the strength to create what's in our hearts." Apart from Aamir Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par also features Genelia D'Souza in a key role. Debutants Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar are also a part of the project. Sitaare Zameen Par is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma and produced by Aamir alongside Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka. Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan's critically acclaimed 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par, revolves around a basketball coach who is instructed to mentor a group of neurodivergent children as part of his community service. What starts as an impossible assignment turns into a life-changing experience for both him and the team. Genelia D'Souza plays Sunita, Aamir Khan's wife. Not long ago, during a brief interaction with the paparazzi, Aamir Khan expressed his joy over the success of Sitaare Zameen Par. He said, 'I am very happy and grateful. More than me, those ten 'sitaare' are excited as this is their film and it is a super hit. We are very grateful." Up next, Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth's highly anticipated, Coolie. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, will be released on August 14. Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Aamir Khan film shows massive 92% jump on second Saturday, crosses ₹100 crore

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Despite facing competition from new releases like Kajol's Maa and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a significant jump in its day 9 box office collection and has now crossed the ₹ 100 crore mark, according to Sacnilk. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par crosses ₹ 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. The trade tracking site reported that Aamir's film saw a jump of 92% on its second Saturday, collecting ₹ 12.75 crore at the box office, up from ₹ 6.65 crore on Friday. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹ 108 crore. This week saw two new releases — Kajol's Maa, which earned ₹ 6.2 crore on day 2, and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, which collected ₹ 7 crore, both less than what Sitaare Zameen Par managed. Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed approximately ₹ 165 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk, making it the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year. It is expected to cross Salman Khan's Sikandar ( ₹ 185 crore gross) in the next couple of days to become the fourth biggest grosser of the year among Hindi films. About Sitaare Zameen Par Helmed by RS Prasanna, the film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film stars Aamir as a basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled children as punishment for a drink-and-drive case. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead role alongside 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — all of whom are specially-abled. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of Sitaare Zameen Par reads, "The first half is slow and tests your patience. Aamir being angry with his new role, getting to know his special team, then struggling in his marriage with Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh) — there's a lot that eats up screen time and feels like lazy writing. There's the occasional laugh, pretty much what one saw in the trailer. The intermission point too isn't on a high. You settle into your seats after this, ready for a yawn-fest. But this is exactly when Sitaare Zameen Par miraculously finds its groove."

Aamir Khan revisits the time Shah Rukh Khan and he called each other ‘chichora': ‘Maybe he was upset with me'

Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan are thick as thieves now. However, there was a time when the Khans also didn't get along. Recently, in an interview with Lallantop, Aamir opened up about a time when he and SRK were at loggerheads. During the interview, when he was reminded how they called each other 'chichora', Aamir explained how they have evolved over the years and shared a good friendship today. Talking about his past equation with Shah Rukh, Aamir said, 'I hadn't known Shah Rukh so much that time, we would keep meeting often, we even hung out together back then at either of our places.' He was reminded how he had written a vlog from a farmhouse in Panchgani, stating that Shah Rukh was licking his feet, and later went on to clarify that he referred to the farmhouse owner's dog, who was named after the actor. Aamir went on to point out, 'SRK often keeps making jokes on me, every year there are award functions and I don't go to them, but they keep making fun of me.' During the release of 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan had gone all out in promoting the film; he had donned several get-ups and was visiting every part of the country. Around the same time, My Name Is Khan was awaiting release, and when SRK was asked about Aamir's promotional strategy for 3 Idiots during an interview, he said, 'I regret to use this word, but it's a kind of 'chichorapan'. I wouldn't go to this extent to promote my film. There is a way to market every film, and we too will have a unique strategy to promote our film.' For me, it was an important experience as a human being, and it will bring growth to me. As far as chichorapan is concerned, Shah Rukh might know better about it because he does a lot of it in his life; he is an expert at all this.' Talking about their friendship now, Aamir said they often meet. 'We often make plans to catch up, and we never stop at one drink. When we sit together, it is usually till morning, 7 am, not just with Salman but with Shah Rukh too. This has happened eight to 10 times till now.' On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. The film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
