Meet Sridevi's 'husband', whose career ruined in 10 seconds, was forced to leave the country, is now..., his name is...
Yash Chopra's Lamhe, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and veteran actors Waheeda Rekhman and Anupam Kher, continues to captivate audiences and maintain its status as cult classic. Despite its evergreen songs and positive word-of-mouth, the film became a box office flop in 1991, only garnering widespread appeal and cult recognition over time.
Lamhe also marked supermodel Deepak Malhotra's Bollywood debut. Before turning to glamour world, Deepak was a national-level gymnast, later becoming India's highest-paid model in late 80s.

This 2-hour-17-minute superhit thriller in which actress turns into snake, movie name is... , lead actress was...
It's been 39 years since Nagina first slithered into theatres, yet when people talk about 'naag-naagin' films, one name instantly flashes in memory, Sridevi. Released in 1986, the 2-hour-17-minute fantasy thriller was directed by Harmesh Malhotra and starred Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor, and Amrish Puri in unforgettable roles. The story, penned by Jagmohan Kapoor, Ravi Kapoor, and Achala Nagar, revolved around a shape-shifting serpent woman, an 'ichchadhari naagin' whose love story turns into a tale of revenge. What Was Nagina About? Sridevi played Rajni, a mysterious woman who falls in love with and marries Rajiv (Rishi Kapoor). Unknown to him, Rajni is an ichchadhari naagin. Their seemingly perfect life takes a sharp turn when Bhairon Nath, a snake charmer played by Amrish Puri, enters the scene. Bhairon Nath reveals to Rajiv's mother that Rajni's marriage is driven by revenge—stemming from her husband's death in childhood—and that she possesses a magical jewel, the 'mani.' His mission? To claim it. Using his hypnotic flute, he tries to force Rajni to reveal her serpent form, setting off a dangerous game of power and love. The Twist That Kept Viewers Hooked As the plot unfolds, Rajiv learns of Bhairon Nath's sinister plan. What follows is a gripping battle between supernatural power and human emotion, complete with dramatic confrontations, intense background scores, and Sridevi's legendary 'Main Teri Dushman' dance sequence, still considered one of Bollywood's most electrifying performances. Box Office Magic According to media reports, Nagina was made on a budget of around Rs 1.8–2 crore. Wikipedia estimates its box office haul at about Rs 13 crore, a massive hit for its time. Decades later, the film remains a cult favourite and is still available for viewing on YouTube, attracting new audiences and nostalgic fans alike. Beyond its supernatural premise, Nagina was a turning point in Sridevi's career, solidifying her status as one of Bollywood's most bankable and versatile stars. The chemistry between her and Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri's menacing presence, and Harmesh Malhotra's storytelling combined to create a film that continues to be celebrated nearly four decades later.

Much like the heroine, all I feel is a sad blankness: Deepanjana Pal on Saiyaara
Now that the film's been out a while, and we no longer need to be coy about spoilers, let's talk about Saiyaara, produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), directed by Mohit Suri, and starring relative newcomer Aneet Padda and Chunky Panday's nephew Ahaan Panday. At her most dynamic, Vaani acts as a sort of ChatGPT for Krish, churning out lyrics for a song, in response to incoherent prompts. Here's the plot: On a day like any other in Mumbai, an angry young musician bumps into a sad poet carrying a notebook. He has a victim complex; she has no sense of boundaries. He punches anyone who criticises him; she stammers when faced with a question. In short, opposites attract. Just when happiness inches towards this photogenic pair, she discovers she has Alzheimer's disease. In case you're wondering just how old this heroine is, well she's old enough to have been dumped by a fiancé on the morning of her wedding, but young enough to have a curfew… of 8.30 pm. There is so much that defies logic in Saiyaara, though, that this plot twist, of a woman in her 20s facing a diagnosis few 20-somethings through history have faced, doesn't even end up very high on the list of absurdities. Meanwhile, Yash Raj tropes abound. Krish Kapoor (Panday) may have more rough edges than the usual YRF hero, but his heart beats to a familiar pattern. The pivot of the story is a classic one: a young man haunted by a woman whose absence has left a void in his life. We've seen this tale play out repeatedly, and often rivetingly, in YRF films from Silsila (1981) and Lamhe (1991) to Darr (1993), Mohabbatein (2000) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). A crucial difference is that this female lead is, well, more hologram than human. For generations, YRF has created women characters who love defiantly and refuse to conform to tropes of weepy, tragic and powerless. They were somehow both flawed and aspirational; exquisitely beautiful, but also complex, and strong. These were human being with whom the audience could connect, identify, even fall in love. In the hands of legendary actors such as Rekha and Sridevi, the YRF heroine was a force to reckon with. She even held her own in action titles (who can forget Deepika Padukone in the 2023 spy hit Pathaan?). Vaani (Padda), sadly, has neither the charisma nor the complexity of her forebears. She exists exclusively as a foil for Krish, gazing at him adoringly when he needs to be glorified and turning into a screeching, knife-wielding virago when Suri wants the audience to feel bad for him. We are told she works at a publishing house, but see nothing of her life outside the scenes she shares with him. Meanwhile, even in these scenes, there are only three states of mind that ever register on her face: sadness, blankness, and sad blankness. At her most dynamic, she acts as a sort of ChatGPT designed specifically for the hero. At one point, he tosses incoherent prompts at her and she churns out lyrics for his latest song. She listens to him rant and supplies what he has asked for efficiently, politely and expressionlessly. Then she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and still puts him first, disappearing from his life in the unshakeable believe that this pain will spare him greater hurt — and spur him on to greatness. In theory, nestled within Suri's goulash of a potboiler is a poignant tale of a woman who desperately wants to forget her heartbreak, and finds herself in the clutches of a ruthless ailment that erases not just her pain, but the rest of her too. It's just hard to see that plot, in a character who has been emptied of everything but beauty and tears. (To reach Deepanjana Pal with feedback, write to @dpanjana on Instagram)

Not Boney Kapoor, Mithun or Jeetendra, Sridevi did not eat anything for 7 days for this man due to..., his name is...
In the golden era of Indian cinema, legendary actress Late Sridevi, known for her unparalleled talent and grace, once showcased a profound act of devotion that transcended professional camaraderie. This actress, revered for her contributions to both Bollywood and South Indian films, shared a deep bond with a fellow superstar, often collaborating on numerous successful projects. Their on-screen chemistry was palpable, and their off-screen friendship was equally profound. Who was this actor? The superstar whom Sridevi held in such high regard is Thalaivar Rajinikanth. During a period when Rajinikanth faced severe health challenges, Sridevi demonstrated her concern and affection by observing a seven-day fast, praying fervently for his recovery. Her dedication even led her to visit the Sai Baba temple in Pune, underscoring the depth of their friendship. Did Rajinikanth had feelings for Sridevi? Reports indicate Rajinikanth had feelings for Sridevi but could never tell her. Once, he had gone to Sridevi's house with the purpose of asking her, as soon as he arrived at house for the sacred occasion of grihapravesh, the power cut made him feel it a bad omen and he retreated from there speechless. In old interviews with people close to Rajinikanth, it's suggested that Rajinikanth felt a strong sense of respect and reverence toward Sridevi, which made it difficult for him to cross professional boundaries. How was Sridevi and Rajinikanth's collaboration? Sridevi and Rajinikanth's professional relationship was marked by numerous collaborations that left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. They co-starred in several Tamil films, including the critically acclaimed 16 Vayathinile (1977), which also featured Kamal Haasan. This film, directed by legendary director Bharathiraja, was a significant milestone in Tamil cinema, being one of the first to be shot predominantly outdoors. Another notable collaboration was Naan Adimai Illai (1986), a remake of the Hindi film Pyar Jhukta Nahin. This film marked Sridevi's final appearance in Tamil cinema before she focused primarily on her Bollywood career. How was Sridevi's personal life? Beyond her professional achievements, Sridevi's personal life was equally eventful. She was married to producer Boney Kapoor, and their union was often the subject of media attention. Prior to this, she was rumored to have had relationships with actors Mithun Chakraborty and Jeetendra, though these were never officially confirmed. Tragically, Sridevi's life was cut short in 2018 when she passed away in Dubai. The official cause of death was reported as accidental drowning following a loss of consciousness.
