Dallas Cowboys Land Dynamic RB in Recent Micah Parsons Mock Trade
Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content.
Last week, Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons took the football world by storm with a shocking social media post. In light of his jaw-dropping message, countless hypothetical trades for the All-Pro linebacker have started to emerge.
Over the past few months, Parsons and the Cowboys have had countless discussions about a contract extension. However, in recent weeks, things have started to take a turn for the worse.
Following numerous public statements from both sides, Parsons took things to new heights last Friday. He posted a long message on X (formerly Twitter) breaking down how things have unfolded regarding extension talks from his point of view.
At the end of the post, Parsons stated that he informed the Cowboys front office that he'd like to be traded.

Cowboys land running back upgrade in Micah Parsons mock trade
Since Parsons told the world of his trade request, countless people in and around the NFL have tossed out hypothetical moves. In a recent column for The Athletic, Zack Rosenblatt broke down a framework where the Cowboys star lands in the AFC with the New York Jets.
In exchange for Parsons, Dallas receives three future draft picks, defensive end Jermaine Johnson, and running back Breece Hall.
"The Cowboys get two talented young players at positions of need," Rosenblatt wrote. "Hall is in the last year of his deal while Johnson has another year left on his rookie deal and Dallas defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton (with the Jets previously) knows what he's capable of — he made the Pro Bowl two years ago. He's no Parsons, but he has the potential to keep getting better with time and development."
As a former first-round pick and Pro-Bowler, Johnson is certainly an intriguing young talent who could help fill the void left by Parsons. That said, the most notable piece of the return package is Hall.

Over the past few years, the Cowboys have longed for a viable option in the backfield. Hall might not be an elite-level talent, but he would still be an upgrade to what they've had recently. As a dual-threat back, he'd also provide Dak Prescott with another weapon in the passing game.
Hall, 24, is coming off his second straight season of at least 1,300 scrimmage yards. He also found the end zone eight times (5 rushing TDs, 3 receiving TDs).
At this point, all of this discourse remains hypothetical. Although Parsons asked out, the Cowboys don't appear like they're ready to honor such a request at this time.

Joe Flacco listed as starting QB on initial Browns depth chart, Shedeur Sanders is No. 4
The Cleveland Browns released their first depth chart of the preseason Monday, and the quarterback order is as expected. Veteran Joe Flacco is listed as the starter, and fellow veteran Kenny Pickett is listed at No. 2. Rookie Dillon Gabriel, whom the Browns selected in the third round of April's draft, is No. 3. And fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders, whose slide to the fifth round was the story of the NFL Draft, is listed at No. 4. The initial depth chart is far from definitive. The Browns have yet to play their first preseason game, and multiple iterations of the depth chart will be released before Cleveland takes on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] But it's a good indicator of where things stand nearly two full weeks into training camp, which has produced little movement in Cleveland's quarterback competition. Flacco and Pickett — in that order — split reps with the first team on the first day of training camp on July 23. Gabriel and Sanders — also in that order — worked with backups. Further giving Flacco a leg up on the starting job was Pickett's hamstring injury, which sidelined him for a week. Pickett's back at practice, and the injury apparently did not open the door for Gabriel or Sanders to jump him on the depth chart. Gabriel got first-team reps while Pickett was sidelined but didn't overtake him at No. 2 and has been dealing with his own hamstring issues that have limited him at practice. Sanders, meanwhile, has reportedly been largely relegated to working with backups throughout training camp. And he was briefly sidelined over the weekend with arm soreness before returning to practice Monday. Because of those injury limitations, the Browns signed former Ravens backup Tyler Huntley on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. He does not appear to be a factor in the competition, but simply another arm in training camp. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said at the start of camp that he would like to make a decision at quarterback "sooner than later." Flacco had the inside track then, and he still does as the Browns prepare to face the Carolina Panthers in their first preseason game on Friday.

Chargers land Terry McLaurin on the cheap in most recent trade prediction
Chargers land Terry McLaurin on the cheap in most recent trade prediction originally appeared on The Sporting News Training camps are in full swing all over the NFL, but as is often the case this time of year, the players who aren't in camp due to a disagreement over how much money they're making are dominating the headlines. Such is the case in the nation's capital, where Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is at odds with the front office and is searching for a new deal. Though McLaurin has clearly outperformed his contract and has been one of the few bright spots in Washington for years before they broke out in a big way last year, the front office is standing pat... for now. That has led to McLaurin requesting a trade and setting off a myriad of ideas around the NFL media world as to which team could make a move for him. Washington would be taking a great risk by not paying him and conceding to his trade request, but if that happens, several teams would jump on the Pro Bowl wide receiver for the right deal. The Los Angeles Chargers have been connected to those trade ideas all offseason, and now a new one has come up in which the AFC West team would make out quite well. Recently, Daniel Popper of the The Athletic put together a list of potential trade partners for McLaurin and what the team would have to give up to get a deal done. He has the Chargers acquiring him for a fourth-round pick in 2026. Yes, that's it. "The Chargers are still figuring out who is going to play on the outside alongside star slot Ladd McConkey in three-receiver packages. They have Quentin Johnston and two ascending rookies in Tre' Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, but that group is unproven. The Chargers signed Mike Williams as a veteran option in March. Williams, though, retired before training camp. McLaurin would check a number of boxes for the Chargers offense. He played more than 83 percent of his snaps on the outside for Washington in 2024. He was elite in contested-catch situations, a skill the Chargers are seeking. The Chargers have the cap space to take on McLaurin's salary for this season. They are also projected to have the second-most cap space in the league in 2026, according to Over the Cap. Their top five receivers — McConkey, Johnston, Harris, Lambert-Smith and Derius Davis — are all on rookie deals. They could afford a more expensive veteran contract in this room from a cap perspective. The Chargers would have to do a deal with McLaurin after trading for him. Would he be open to something more short-term? A two-year extension at $30 million in AAV could make sense for both sides", wrote Popper. The Chargers need more help at wide receiver, and that has been documented all offseason. To get McLaurin for a fourth-round pick would be a steal. Yes, they would need to sign him to the extension that Washington is not giving him, but the team has the cap space available to do that. That has also been well documented. READ:Chargers backup QB may be trade bait for NFC South team The Chargers are a team rising into contention with the money available to make at least one deal that significantly pushes the envelope before the season kicks off. For those reasons, they will continue to be mentioned in potential blockbusters such as this one. But to get a top-flight wide receiver for a day-three draft pick is one that the front office could not pass up on.
