Father accused of repeated rape of minor daughter in Rajkot
The incident came to light after the 35-year-old mother of the minor girl lodged a complaint against her husband at a police station in Rajkot for rape under the BNS Act and Sections 6 and 8 of the Pocso Act.
According to Investigating Officer D.M. Haripara, the accused is a native of Nepal and had been residing in Rajkot with his wife and three children for the past four years. He was employed as a security guard, while his wife is a homemaker. The survivor has a brother and a sister. Efforts to trace the accused are underway using human intelligence and technical surveillance.
As per police sources, the incident came to light on July 25 when the mother caught her husband allegedly molesting their daughter.
On questioning the child, she came to know about the repeated sexual abuse by the father.
The girl disclosed that her father would assault her whenever her mother was not at home. This revelation led to a confrontation between the couple, during which the wife threatened to inform the police. Fearing arrest, the accused fled the house.

Police, with the help of the identification provided, tracked down and identified the jawan. He was later arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

Central jail prisoner hangs self in barrack
Varanasi: A prisoner in Central Jail under Shivpur police station area hanged himself from the ceiling of an isolated barrack on the jail premises on Monday night. Regarding the incident, Central Jail superintendent Radha Krishna Mishra said on Tuesday that during routine check of barracks on Monday night, jail officials and guards noticed the body of a prisoner, Vijay alias Kalu Tyagi (46) of Baghpat district, hanging from the ceiling of an isolated barrack adjacent to the jail's hospital. Tyagi was serving a 20-year sentence under POCSO Act in a case of raping a minor girl. He was lodged here since Nov2020. Mishra said after being lodged in Baghpat jail, Tyagi murdered an inmate with a rod torn from the cover of a sewer manhole there. After lodging an FIR, he was transferred from Baghpat district to Varanasi Central Jail on administrative grounds in 2020. tnn

Private school correspondent in Rayavaram, arrested for raping minor
Representational image RAJAHMUNDRY: A private school correspondent has been accused of impregnating Class 10 student in Konaseema district. Akumarthi Jaya Raj, a private school correspondent in Rayavaram mandal, allgedly assaulted a minor girl from the same school over the past few months. One day, he asked the girl to get a file from the staff room and allegedly grabbed her from behind before sexually assaulting her. He reportedly repeated the abuse several times and threatened her not to tell her parents. The parents identified some physical changes their daughter's body. They took the girl to the doctor, who told them she was pregnant. Rayavaram police have booked a case under POCSO Act. The police has taken the accused into the custody and will produce him before the court.
