Gold Steady, Underpinned by U.S. Fiscal-Deficit Concerns

2341 GMT — Gold is steady in the early Asian session, underpinned by concerns over the U.S. fiscal deficit. The U.S. Senate passed President Trump's tax-and-spending megabill on Tuesday, with the bill now returning to the House of Representatives. The 'bill is expected to widen the deficit by US$3.3 trillion over the next decade,' Exness' Van Ha Trinh says in an email. 'At the same time, uncertainty surrounding global trade persists,' the financial markets strategist says. The precious metal could be supported by increasing investors' worries and uncertainty, the strategist adds. Spot gold is steady at $3,339.49/oz. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)

Jim Cramer on Thermo Fisher: 'It Does Seem Like it's Bottoming'

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO) is one of the 21 stocks on Jim Cramer's radar. Expressing that they believe that the stock has significant potential for growth, a caller inquired about TMO. In response, Cramer said: 'This stock is unbelievable. It was a, it's a great company. Marc Casper does a terrific job, but we own Danaher for the Charitable Trust, and it's as bad as Thermo Fisher. I am urging you to not buy it till we see a pickup in Chinese orders. I know that seems strange, but this stock has crushed a lot of people. It does seem like it's bottoming, but I am not going to push it because it's related to China, and anything related to China is bearish.' An engineer at a workbench surrounded by automotive parts, tools, and microchips. Thermo Fisher (NYSE:TMO) provides a vast portfolio of products and services for scientific research, diagnostics, and biopharma, including instruments, reagents, laboratory supplies, and clinical research support. Parnassus Investments stated the following regarding Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO) in its Q4 2024 investor letter: 'Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO), a manufacturer of lab equipment and analytical tools, reported in-line quarterly numbers. However, expectations for a demand recovery in 2025 continue to moderate, particularly given uncertainty regarding the new administration.' Donald Trump Floats Possibly Deporting Elon Musk Following His Ongoing Criticism of The 'Big, Beautiful Bill'

Source: The Washington Post / Getty / Donald Trump / Elon Musk If you need any more proof that the MAGA bromance between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is truly over, the traitor-in-chief's latest comments are a great indication of just that. When Elon Musk got onboard the MAGA train and fueled it with his unlimited amount of cash, we are sure he didn't think his name would come up in discussions of possibly being deported. Well, that's what happened on Tuesday when Agent Orange floated the idea of deporting the South African-born billionaire, following Musk's ongoing criticism of his disastrous tax spending bill, also known as the 'big, beautiful bill.' Even after walking back claims he made on X, formerly Twitter, that Trump was on Epstein's list, and that he should be impeached, Musk continued to rail on the bill as Republicans continue to push it along, even threatening to put his money behind candidates to unseat the Republicans who voted for the bill. Reporters asked Trump if he would consider deporting Musk, and he said, 'I don't know. We'll have to take a look.' Trump went as far as to suggest even using DOGE, the made-up government agency once led by Musk, to look into eliminating the government subsidies that Phony Stark's companies benefit from. 'We might have to put DOGE on Elon,' Trump said. 'You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn't that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies.' Of course, Musk didn't sit on his X fingers writing, 'So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.' The two weren't done taking shots at each other on social media, with Trump taking things further on his lame platform, Truth Social. 'Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,' Trump said. 'No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!' Meanwhile, Musk continues to threaten to start a third political party. You can see what folks are saying about this latest development in the Trump/Musk saga in the gallery below.
