BOLIVAR, N.Y. (WETM) — A New York State Trooper is in serious condition, and another is hurt after a woman stabbed them during a traffic stop, regarding a stolen vehicle, in the parking lot of a gas station in the Village of Bolivar, according to the New York State Police (NYSP).
According to NYSP, around 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, troopers from the Amity State Police Barracks came across a stolen vehicle in the Village of Bolivar. Soon after spotting the vehicle, troopers carried out a vehicle and traffic stop in the parking lot of Crosby's Gas Station, located at 500 Main, in the Village of Bolivar, NYSP said. NYSP further stated that while troopers were arresting the female, who NYSP explained was thought to have stolen the vehicle, she turned violent, stabbing one trooper right above the eye and the other in his head.

The trooper who experienced trauma to the eye area is in serious condition, NYSP added, and is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment.
NYSP stated the woman is awaiting her charges and there is no public threat. An investigation is ongoing and 18 News will provide more information as it becomes available.

Memorial service for Jason McGlone at East Branch Fire Station honors his life

Dozens of firefighters, family, friends and fire responders filled the East Branch Fire Hall July 26 for the funeral service of assistant chief Jason McGlone, who was killed in the line of duty. McGlone, 51, was electrocuted and died July 17 while responding to a crash in the Town of Hancock. As flowers, McGlone's uniform, pictures and an urn sat at the front of the hall, pastor Yancey Brown said the firefighter's funeral service "may be the hardest thing, the hardest service I've ever done." Brown called McGlone someone who would "jump in with both feet." Stories shared by family and friends throughout the service reflected that adventurous spirit. Meghan Bouren, cousin of McGlone's wife CaroleAnn, said McGlone was a father, a husband, a son, a brother, an uncle "like no other." He was an "amazing man," she said, and "a fireman who gave everything to this community and this town." More: Firefighter Jason McGlone, killed in the line of duty, was outdoorsman, cook, 'big family man' Dan St Jacques said McGlone took him under his wing when they started working together. "I realized that under that rough exterior, he was my guardian angel. He was the one that was keeping me from getting hurt." Those who spoke during the service described McGlone as someone who did not like being in the spotlight, but would do anything for anyone. East Branch Fire Chief Rod Keesler used to tease McGlone for being for "a city boy trying to go country." Over the years, he said, their bond grew into a brotherhood. "Jay was our family, and you'll continue to be part of the family," Keesler said, addressing McGlone's family. "We love you, Jay. Rest in peace brother, we'll take it from here." At the close of the service, firefighters stood at attention as Hancock Chaplain Brad Esolen performed the "Striking of the Four Fives," a series of bells used to signal a firefighter has died in the line of duty. Delaware County 911 played the last call for McGlone over the speakers. McGlone died during a response to the scene of a crash, where a pickup truck had gone off the road at state Highway 30 and struck a guardrail and utility pole in the Town of Hancock. When the East Branch Fire Department arrived on scene around 9:30 p.m., New York State Police said, a low-hanging electrical wire was touching the top of the fire truck's roof. When McGlone exited the truck and touched the metal door and the ground, he was electrocuted and died at the scene. "Jason was just one of those guys," Brown said, "that every hamlet community fire department needs." Blackstone says real estate executive Wesley LePatner was among those killed in NYC shooting

The Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner was among those killed on Monday by a gunman who entered the company's Park Avenue offices, the private equity giant said in a statement Tuesday morning. LePatner, a mother and wife, was the $1.2 trillion firm's global head of core+ real estate and CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, an evergreen real estate fund. Her death has left staff at the New York-based asset manager "heartbroken," the statement said. "Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed. She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone," the statement continued. LePatner, a Yale graduate and trustee of New York's Met Museum, was an executive at Goldman Sachs before joining Blackstone in 2014. She told Business Insider in 2022 that her unit was, "for all intents and purposes, a startup." "I faced all the challenges one could imagine when building a multibillion-dollar business — from hiring to ensuring standards remain high, moving quickly to keep up with growth, and staying ahead of market swings and growing pains," she said. She also served on the board for the UJA-Federation of New York, which honored her at its Wall Street dinner in 2023. Blackstone's President Jon Gray presented her with a leadership award and lauded her ascent in finance and her support of women on Wall Street, according to a press release. LePatner is one of four victims who lost their lives to the gunman, who has been identified by the police as Shane Tamura. The gunman died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the building.
