NEW DELHI: Jamie Smith etched his name in the record books with an unbeaten 184 — the highest-ever Test score by an England wicketkeeper — while
Harry Brook
scored a fluent 158, but India still finished Day 3 of the second Test at Edgbaston firmly in control with a lead of over 200 runs.
England were reeling at 84/5 and still over 500 runs behind when Smith walked in to join Brook early in the day, right after Mohammed Siraj had delivered a double blow, including handing
Ben Stokes
the first golden duck of his Test career.

The pair then mounted a brilliant fightback, adding 303 runs for the sixth wicket before Brook fell in the post-tea session.
By the time England were bowled out for 407, Smith had overtaken Alec Stewart's previous record for the highest score by an England wicketkeeper — 173 vs New Zealand in 1997.
'Very tired, but it was good fun to be out there with Smudge (Jamie Smith)...' Brook said after stumps.
Harry Brook press conference: On Yashasvi Jaiswal DRS controversy, India bowling, getting out on 99
Siraj (6/70) and Akash Deep (4/88), who replaced Jasprit Bumrah for the Test, shared all ten wickets between them, in an innings that included six ducks.
India, trailing 0-1 in the series, ended the day at 64/1, with a commanding 244-run lead and two full days left in the match.
"India are in front at the minute, but three or four wickets in the morning and you never know. Everything happens so quickly in cricket. I was cramping on my right side — wasn't ideal. The Indian bowlers bowled well. They attacked from wide of the crease and targeted all three stumps. There are plenty of wickets to be had," Brook said.

Prasidh Krishna OUT, 3 Players IN! India's Likely Playing XI For Lord's Test

Despite securing a memorable win by 336 runs over the English team at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday (July 6), Indian team management could make multiple changes to India's playing XI for the third Test against England. The third Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England is scheduled to take place at Lord's from July 10 to 14. World No. 1 Test bowler Japsrit Bumrah is all set to return for the red-ball match at the Home of Cricket. India's Test captain Shubman Gill confirmed the news of Bumrah's return on Sunday during the post-match presentation ceremony. The 31-year-old fast bowler from Ahmedabad had missed the Birmingham Test as part of his workload management.

Did Josh Allen just betray Nike? Fans are losing it over this New Balance moment

Josh Allen stuns fans by choosing New Balance over Nike. (Image via AP) Josh Allen just stepped into something new, literally. The Buffalo Bills' golden boy was spotted rocking New Balance sneakers, and the internet instantly lost its grip. No flashy Nike logo. No loud rollout. Just Josh, a chilled-out tee, black shorts, and dad shoes that scream, 'Yeah, I'm comfy—and what about it?' Now, people are scrambling to figure out what it means. Is he officially leaving Nike? Is New Balance gearing up to sign their biggest NFL name yet? Or did Josh Allen just decide that 2025 is the year of orthopedic drip? The New Balance moment that made fans think he's done with Nike The viral photo, showed Allen walking away from his car wearing New Balance sneakers. The caption said it all: 'Nike letting just anybody slip away… New Balance it is 💰😮‍💨' And that's not just a throwaway comment, Josh Allen was previously signed to Nike in a multi-year endorsement deal starting back in 2021. But now? There's no Swoosh in sight. Another fan chimed in with the realest question of them all: 'Wondering how many in Bills Mafia will switch to New Balance.' So why New Balance? Fans have theories and jokes While there's no official New Balance endorsement announcement (yet), fans are already piecing it together. New Balance has been on a hot streak lately, lacing up stars like Kawhi Leonard and Coco Gauff. Now, if Josh Allen joins that club? It's a major flex for the brand that used to scream suburban dad energy and now screams elite athlete with chill confidence. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why seniors are rushing to get this Internet box – here's why! Techno Mag Learn More Undo This isn't just a sneaker swap. It's a full-on vibe shift. While some QBs go all-in on flashy fits and loud branding, Allen is taking the low-key route: subtle flexes, casual power moves, and now, New Balance. It's the same energy we're seeing from guys like Joe Burrow (with his Midwest monotone drip) and Jalen Hurts (who walks into pressers like it's business class). Josh Allen isn't out here chasing clout, he's building a brand of his own. And it starts with walking away from Nike like it was no big deal. If this is a breakup with Nike, it's the quietest mic drop of the offseason. Josh Allen didn't need a flashy announcement. He just wore what he wanted and let the internet do the talking. Whether it turns into an official endorsement or not, one thing is clear: New Balance just got a major upgrade. And Josh? He's clearly in his 'I do what I want' era and the shoes match perfectly. NHL Trade Rumors: Montreal Canadiens still targeting Jordan Kyrou in potential blockbuster deal

Source: (AP Photo/Rick Scuteri) The Montreal Canadiens may not be finished trying to land Jordan Kyrou. Despite the St. Louis Blues forward now having a full no-trade clause, reports suggest that the Canadiens remain interested in acquiring him. NHL insider Frank Seravalli recently confirmed that Montreal is still working behind the scenes to make a deal happen, signaling that this potential blockbuster trade is far from dead. Montreal Canadiens continue their pursuit of Jordan Kyrou despite his full no-trade clause in place Although Jordan Kyrou's no-trade clause went into effect on July 1, preventing the Blues from moving him without his approval, the Canadiens are reportedly still in active discussions to bring the talented winger to Montreal. Seravalli, speaking on The Kevin Karius Show, shared that the Canadiens have not given up on Kyrou and are exploring ways to convince him to waive his clause. The Blues, meanwhile, appear motivated to part ways with Kyrou's contract, which carries significant term and cap implications. With St. Louis having plenty of winger depth, moving Kyrou could free up flexibility for other roster moves. Montreal general manager Kent Hughes is known for being aggressive in trade talks, and the Canadiens' ongoing interest signals that they view Kyrou as a potential impact addition to their offense. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Lingering questions about Jordan Kyrou's fit in Montreal and the trade assets needed to acquire him remain One major question is whether Kyrou would be open to joining Montreal. As a Toronto native, he might have some interest in playing in Canada, but no reports have confirmed his stance. If he's unwilling to waive his no-trade clause, any deal would be impossible. Additionally, the Canadiens recently traded Logan Mailloux to St. Louis in a separate transaction, removing one potential asset they could have included in a Kyrou package. While other teams are also reportedly in the mix, the Canadiens appear to be among the most serious suitors. Hughes will need to find a combination of players or draft picks that can entice St. Louis while also securing Kyrou's approval. As trade talks continue, the possibility of Jordan Kyrou joining the Montreal Canadiens remains one of the most intriguing storylines of the offseason. While obstacles like the no-trade clause and limited bargaining chips stand in the way, Montreal's determination could eventually lead to a breakthrough. Fans should keep a close eye on this developing situation in the weeks ahead.
