Andhra Pradesh cancels two Adani hydro storage projects citing local issues, developer request
The previous government led by then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had given permission to M/s Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) to set up these two PSPs in Andhra Odisha Border (AOB). However, the present TDP led NDA coalition government cancelled the projects due to local issues and at the request of the developer. They also requested to refund the facilitation charges paid by M/s AGEL or else to adjust towards the allotment fee due for 1000 MW Pedakota and 600 MW Raiwada PSP Projects. Chief secretary K Vijayanand issued GO MS 55, cancelling the allotments to AGEL on Monday.
According to GO MS 55 issued by government of Andhra Pradesh, New and Renewable Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) has prepared the Feasibility Reports for two pumped hydro storage power projects (PSPs) of 1,200mw capacity at Kurukutti and 1,000mw capacity at Karrivalasa under Parvathipuram-Manyam by engaging M/s. TCE Ltd and submitted to different directorates of CEA.
Survey and investigations are to be taken up for the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR). However, M/s. Adani Green Energy Limited has taken over the responsibility of survey and investigations as well as preparation of DPR in respect of 1200 MW Kurukutti PSP and 1000 MW Karrivalasa PSP Projects after allocation of the projects.

AP Discoms seek ERC nod to collect true-up charges of Rs 12,771 cr
Vijayawada: The three power distribution companies (discoms) in the state have filed a petition before Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC), seeking permission to collect Rs 12,771 crore from consumers through true-up charges. The ERC released the notification asking the public to file their objections/suggestions on the petitions filed by the discoms. The Left parties have demanded that the govt immediately withdraw the proposal. According to the affidavit, SPDCL wants to collect Rs 3,046 crore through true-up charges to recover the actual costs of power supplied from 2019 to 2024. APEPDCL has urged the commission to allow it to collect Rs 7,790 crore, while APCPDCL wants to recover Rs 1,935 crore. The discoms have been collecting fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) charges for the past three years. Recently, the distribution companies filed a petition before APERC seeking ratification of its decision to collect 40 paise per unit, which has been continuing for the past six months. He blamed the previous YSRCP govt for the discoms' move to collect the true-up and FPPCA charges. "The mismanagement and irregularities during the YSRCP regime forced discoms to recover the true-up and FPPCA charges from the consumer. The discoms have filed petitions to collect the dues pertaining to the YSRCP regime," Gottipati claimed. Dismissing the minister's allegations, CPI-M leaders V Srinivasa Rao and Ch Baburao said blaming the previous regime is only a "cover-up act" by the TDP-led NDA govt, and warned of agitations across the state if the discoms did not withdraw the true-up charges notice.

Centre blames Jagan govt for modifying crop insurance policy
Vijayawada: Union minister of agriculture and farmers welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, disclosed that non-payment of crop insurance premiums for farmers by previous YSRCP govt led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy made the Union govt to modify the 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana' policy guidelines. He revealed this in response to a question raised by Rajasthan MP Hanuman Jeniwal in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that some states announced they would pay the farmer insurance premium themselves. "However, AP didn't contribute their share towards the premium, due to which farmers suffered and couldn't get insurance. Due to this bad experience, the Union govt has modified its policy, and the Centre would be paying its share irrespective of whether the state govt pays or not," the MoAFW said in the lower house of Parliament. Shivraj Singh Chouhan added that insurance would not be denied to farmers if their respective state govts failed to pay the state's share; however, the state govt would be penalised with a 12% interest. Earlier, the crop insurance scheme was run under the name of the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS). Later, the BJP-led Prime Minister Narendra Modi's govt changed this scheme and mandated that the farmer claim should be paid in 21 days.

Naidu vows to complete Kadapa steel plant by Dec 2028
1 2 Tirupati: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu pledged to complete the Kadapa steel plant by December 2028, expressing confidence that not only Jammalamadugu but the entire Kadapa district will benefit once the plant becomes operational. Naidu went door-to-door distributing NTR Bharosa social security pensions to beneficiaries in Gudem Cheruvu, Jammalamadugu constituency on Friday. He visited a weaver's family and interacted with the head of the family, Alivelamma. Later, Naidu arrived at the Praja Vedika public meeting venue in an auto-rickshaw. Addressing the gathering at Praja Vedika, the CM stated that Andhra Pradesh ranks first in the country in terms of social security pension disbursements, followed by Telangana and Kerala. "The TDP-led NDA government has brought the state back on the path of development despite all challenges. The destruction left behind by the YSRCP in the state is unparalleled in the country. While it is easy to destroy good work, rebuilding is extremely difficult, but the NDA alliance in power is shouldering the responsibility to protect the state's interests," Naidu emphasided. Targeting former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu questioned the purpose of his Nellore visit.
