Gabrielle Union Honored on ‘Marie Claire's' Power Moms List
CLOSE
Gabrielle Union recently opened up about her motherhood journey in an in-depth interview with Marie Claire for the magazine's motherhood issue—and now the outlet has named her among the honorees for its inaugural Power Moms List.
During her speech at the awards ceremony, Union shared that the village she has in her life has been instrumental in helping her in her motherhood journey, specifically on becoming a mom later in life and deciding to choose surrogacy.
In a feature in the magazine's motherhood issue, Union previously shared her parenting style and what makes her a Power Mom. 'Each child gets a different version of me because they need a different version of me. I couldn't say the things that I say to Zaya in the way that I say them to Zaire,' she told the outlet.
'At times I can be softer and more lenient, and then there's times where I am just straight-up bad cop because the dynamics change. Sometimes when my husband says certain things to certain kids, it just lands like an anvil around their necks that will be there for the rest of their lives. So in those cases, I'm like, 'I got this,' because they're going to receive it differently from me. I've learned that there's no one way to parent. It's not one size fits all,' Union continued.

Speaking about the first-ever event, Marie Claire editor-in-chief Nikki Ogunnaike explained the intent behind honoring moms making a difference. 'At Marie Claire, we spotlight the women moving culture forward—and we know you can't tell the story of progress without telling the story of moms,' she said.
'The Power Moms are a diverse group of actors, activists, business leaders, and musicians who, despite their different fields, have one thing in common: motherhood isn't a limitation, it's part of their legacy,' Ogunnaike added.
Other 2025 honorees on the Power Moms List include: singer-songwriter Kali Uchis, actress/model Deepika Padukone, Bobbie co-founders Laura Modi and Sarah Hardy, attorney Cherelle Griner, wife of WNBA superstar Brittney Griner, and Olympia Gayot, creative director and head of design at J. Crew.

Elmo's X Account Hacked: Racist Posts Spark Outrage
Source: Paul Zimmerman / Getty This story contains sensitive content, including profanity and racial slurs. Now…who in the snuffleupagus would have the nerve to hack Elmo?! The beloved Sesame Street character's verified X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked over the weekend, leading to a series of offensive posts that shocked fans. The account, known for its uplifting and motivational content, was used to share antisemitic and racist messages, including calls for violence against Jews and references to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, confirmed the breach and expressed its outrage. 'Elmo's X account was compromised by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts,' a spokesperson told Variety . The tweets, which were posted on July 13, were quickly deleted, and the account has since been secured. Screenshots of the offensive posts circulated widely before their removal, sparking outrage among Elmo's 650,000 followers. The incident marks a stark departure from the account's usual tone, which often focuses on mental health awareness and positivity. Last year, Elmo's tweet, 'Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?' went viral, even prompting responses from then-President Joe Biden and Chance the Rapper. This hacking incident comes amid broader concerns about antisemitism on the X platform. Just a week earlier, Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, faced backlash for spreading antisemitic content. Musk attributed the issue to the chatbot being 'too eager to please' and susceptible to manipulation. Sesame Workshop is actively working to ensure the security of Elmo's account moving forward. X has not yet commented on the incident. This breach serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities even high-profile accounts face in the digital age and the importance of robust cybersecurity measures. Source: NurPhoto / Getty Las Vegas, NV (July 14, 2025) — UNO, Mattel's beloved classic card game, is stepping onto the casino stage with the launch of its first-ever UNO Social Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. But don't expect it to be just another table game – Mattel is transforming UNO into an immersive entertainment experience complete with upscale flair, private gameplay, and themed drinks. Vibrant UNO-themed décor fills a luxury suite, complete with private gaming tables and dealers tailored to the UNO experience. fills a luxury suite, complete with private gaming tables and dealers tailored to the UNO experience. The lounge offers three new competitive variants: UNO Golf™ – ditch the high cards and aim for the lowest score. UNO Teams™ – pair up to empty both hands and claim victory. UNO Show 'em No Mercy™ – a fiery format with punishing penalties and a ruthless gameplay twist. Unlike traditional wagering, this concept is built around social engagement: think tournaments, photo moments, and UNO-branded cocktails—all in a casino-worthy ambiance but without direct gambling on hands. The idea is to elevate casual game nights into guided, memorable social events. Palms marks the debut, but Mattel plans more UNO Social Clubs in 2025 across major U.S. cities. Expect pop-ups in bars and entertainment venues, themed tournaments, and specialty UNO drinks. UNO boasts decades of popularity, and this move shows how brands are pushing beyond packaged goods, tapping into experiential entertainment —blurring leisure, competition, and live interaction in new ways. By bringing UNO into casino-adjacent venues, Mattel is crafting a playful, upscale spin to attract both longtime fans and entertainment seekers.
