Scots comedian cancels Fringe show after 'terror charges'
Susan Riddell and two other women were arrested after the stunt at an arms facility in Edinburgh. Scots comedian Susan Riddell has cancelled her Edinburgh Fringe show due to her bail conditions banning her from travelling into the city. Riddell, 42, Allegra Fitzherbert, 34, and Naomi Stubbs-Gorman, 31, were arrested in connection with driving a van into a fence at Leonardo's arms factory in Edinburgh on Crewe Road North last week. It is alleged that they performed the stunt as part of a pro-Palestine protest due to Leonardo's creating components of the F-35 (fighter jet) used by the Israeli Air Force. At a private hearing via video link at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, the trio made no plea to a charge of malicious mischief, aggravated by having a "terrorist connection". Riddell was also charged under the Road Traffic Act 1988, aggravated by having a "terrorist connection". The Fringe show show How Do You Sleep at Night? at Monkey Barrel at The Tron had been pencilled in for a month long run before it was axed. The hour-long show had a 19:15 slot from 28 July until 24 August. Riddell posted on Instagram: "Thanks to everyone who has shared my Edinburgh fringe show but unfortunately due to bail conditions I'm barred from Edinburgh for the foreseeable, so I won't be doing my show." Leonardo previously said it does not supply equipment directly to Israel and that its main customer is the UK Armed Forces. On Sunday Police Scotland said its counter-terrorism unit is leading the investigation into the incident, and that inquiries are ongoing. The force also issued an appeal for information to trace the movements of two vehicles. One is a blue Ford Transit van which was seen around Gorgie Road on Monday and Tuesday prior to the incident. The other is a white Honda CR-Z which was found in a car park on Gorgie Road after the incident. reference number 0416 of July 15.

Joshua Dale Brown, 26, has been charged with a string of horror child sex offences SICK & TWISTED Nursery 'paedo', 26, who 'gave child STD' prompted cops to advise 2,000 kids to get tested 'after campaign of abuse' A CHILD from a daycare centre where an alleged paedo is accused of carrying out dozens of sex attacks has reportedly contracted an STD. Joshua Dale Brown, 26, has been charged with raping and abusing eight children aged from five months to two years old in a horror case that has rocked Australia. 2 Joshua Dale Brown, 26, has been charged with a string of horror child sex offences Credit: Facebook The child educator worked across 23 daycare centres in Victoria, sparking fears that he spread sexually transmitted diseases to the young children. The parents of some 2,000 children have been urged by state authorities to test their kids for infections in the wake of his arrest. Sources told Daily Mail Australia one child who attended one of the Melbourne daycare centres where Brown was employed has now tested positive for gonorrhoea. While the Victorian government denied the claim, the Department of Health refused to reject the report. Tests are ongoing after the mass panic sparked by Brown's arrest on July 1. Cops did not reveal if Brown himself had tested positive for an STI but said the manner of the alleged abuse means children should get checked. The alleged attacker worked at 23 centres over eight years from January 2017 to May 2025. Police say he carried out the abuse on eight children between April 2022 and January 2023. He is expected to be hit with further charges beyond the 73 he currently faces for sexually penetrating children, sexual activity in the presence of a child and contaminating food. 2 Cops say the majority of Brown's offences took place at the Creative Gardens Early Learning Centre in Point Cook Credit: Facebook He has also been charged with producing and transmitting child abuse material, and sexually touching a child under 16. Brown appeared in court yesterday and will return in February after the magistrate approved a police request for an extension. Horrified parents have questioned how Brown passed screening to work with children. While he had a valid Working with Children Check, he was allegedly reported to state authorities two years ago for his behaviour, though it was unrelated to sexual misconduct. In response, childcare operator G8 Education said they would accelerate the rollout of security cameras across 400 centres. Brown was arrested after cops started investigating another man, Michael Simon Wilson, for the alleged rape of a teenage boy in a nearby area. Detectives examining Wilson's devices found material linking him to Brown and the two men are known to each other, sources told ABC. Wilson has been hit with 45 charges including rape, bestiality and possessing child abuse material. The pair are yet to enter a plea and it is unclear how they know each other. However they have appeared together in a photo shared online by Brown's partner. Brown has employed top barrister Rishi Nathwani KC to his defence, who is trying to have his client's charge sheets withheld from the media. But Magistrate Donna Bakos told him they are already a matter of public record. Cops say the majority of Brown's offences took place at the Creative Gardens Early Learning Centre in Point Cook.

Man charged with terror offences after protesting outside Scots court
Michael Napier, of West Lothian, is a founding member of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign. A founding member of a pro-Palestine group has appeared at court charged with two terror offences. Michael Napier, 78, appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, July 22, charged with two counts of inviting support to a proscribed terror organisation. The West Lothian pensioner made no plea. He was committed for further examination and granted bail. His next appearance at court is yet to be confirmed. Supporters of Napier held a protest outside the court, many waving Palestinian flags or holding placards with pro-Palestinian slogans. Mr Napier, who is a founding member of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign, was arrested on Monday July 21 while he was protesting the arrest of three women outside of the same Court in the capital. Naomi Stubbs-Gorman, 31, Susan Riddell, 42, and Allegra Fitzherbert, 34, appeared on petition at the court charged with malicious mischief after a van was allegedly driven into a fence at an Edinburgh arms factory. The trio made no plea on charges of malicious mischief, aggravated by having a "terrorist connection", after a van was allegedly driven into the fence of the Leonardo factory in the Crewe Road North area of the capital on July 15. Riddell was also charged under the Road Traffic Act 1988, aggravated by having a "terrorist connection". During a short private hearing the Sheriff granted Fitzherbert, of London, and Riddell, of Glasgow, bail. Their next appearance at court is to be confirmed. Stubbs-Gorman, of Glasgow, had her application for bail continued one day and will appear before the court on Tuesday. Protestors supporting the three women held a demonstration outside the court before their appearance. Jessie Normaschild, 67, who was at the demonstration holding a Campaign Against Arms Trade banner, said she was attending to show support for the three women, and to protest about government support for arms manufacturers. "Leonardo is a big arms factory in Edinburgh, and it makes the F-35 (fighter jet) targeting system," she said. "The F-35s are being used to bomb Gaza. And we don't want Leonardo in Edinburgh. We don't want Scottish Government money, taxpayers' money, to fund Scottish Enterprise to give the money to Leonardo and Raytheon and BAE." Leonardo previously said it does not supply equipment directly to Israel and that its main customer is the UK Armed Forces.
