Delhi Bakery's Cake Message Blunder Viral, Internet Says 'This Is Funny'

NDTV14 hours ago
A Reddit user has gone viral after they shared their experience of ordering a cake from a bakery in Delhi. The user revealed that they ordered a chocolate truffle bento cake to celebrate their mother's birthday, but upon receiving the cake, were left amused by the writing on it.
The customer had requested the bakery to write "Happy Birthday Mummy" on the cake, and added a note saying: 'Text with frosting'. However, once the cake was delivered, the OP saw that the bakery had printed the entire note on the cake, including the words "Text with frosting".
The user posted a photo of the cake, showing the message, written exactly as typed in the order: "Happy Birthday Mummy. Text with frosting."
"Ordered this cake from creme castle. 300 grams for whopping Rs.400 and this is what I got. Plus the customer service is so bad." the user captioned the post.
The OP also shared a screenshot of a conversation with the bakery, seeking a resolution. However, the bakery refused to provide any refund or change.
'Sorry for laughing but..'
As the post went viral, garnering hundreds of upvotes, social media users could not help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Others empathised with the worker who may not have understood the instructions in English.
"Text with frosting. I'm sorry for laughing but this is pretty common," said one user while another added: "I once asked them to write a name which has 2 D's in it. They replaced all D's with B's."
A third commented: "It is funny! But asking for a refund is a bit too much. This is a human error, someone who doesn't understand English! Just remove the choco strip! You should be good!! And maybe add a Happy Birthday topper (just in case)."
A fourth said: "I'm so sorry but that's just straight-up meme material and this actually happened to me as as well once."

Mahavatar Narasimha Becomes Biggest Animated film ever in India, Overtakes Spider Man

Mahavatar Narasimha has emerged as the highest-grossing animation film of all time in India. The film grossed Rs. 8 crore approx on its second Friday, taking its total gross to Rs. 56.50 crore. This figure doesn't include 3D charges, as is the reporting norm in India, including which the total gross stands at Rs. 63 crore approx. Mahavatar Narasimha surpassed the Hollywood film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse for the record, while the previous biggest homegrown animation was Tamil film Kochadaiiyaan featuring Superstar Rajnikanth. The record came in just eight days of release, and with the sort of momentum the film has caught, it will be setting the bar quite high this time. Animation films are extremely popular across the world, boasting some of the biggest grossers ever. Just this year, Chinese animation Ne Zha 2 obliterated box office records in the country, grossing over USD 2 billion. Last year, Inside Out 2 did tremendous business across the world. In several countries, animation is the most popular genre for movie-going. However, in India, it has very few takers. The genre is often looked down on as 'kids cinema', and in India, kids don't drive the box office. The religious animation does have some appeal, but except for Punjabi film Chaar Sahibzade, nothing has found the success pan-India or in Hindi, that is, until now. Mahavatar Narasimha is the first in the announced cinematic universe of seven films. The hope is that this film and franchise will break the stigma and unlock the massive potential of animation that has already delivered blockbusters worldwide. The Highest Grossing Animated Films in India are as follows: Rank Title Year Gross 1 Mahavatar Narasimha 2025 Rs. 56.50 cr. 2 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023 Rs. 55.50 cr. 3 Incredibles 2 2018 Rs. 54.50 cr. 4 Frozen 2 2019 Rs. 54.00 cr. 5 Kochadaiiyan 2014 Rs. 52.00 cr. 6 Kung Fu Panda 4 2024 Rs. 43.00 cr. 7 Inside Out 2 2024 Rs. 38.00 cr. 8 Moana 2 2024 Rs. 31.50 cr. 9 Kung Fu Panda 3 2016 Rs. 30.75 cr. 10 Kung Fu Panda 2 2011 Rs. 28.50 cr.

When Shah Rukh Khan said he deserved National Award for Swades, not Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum: 'I should have got it'

The National Film Award win for Best Actor for Jawan ended a 33-year drought for Shah Rukh Khan. Arguably the biggest star of Hindi cinema in the last three decades, Shah Rukh has had some critically acclaimed performances that came close to a win, but never quite landed. Both fans and critics believe that his best shot at a National Award win was in 2004 when he aced his role in Swades. However, the award went to Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum that year. A recently resurfaced video shows that even Shah Rukh felt he deserved the award more. Shah Rukh Khan's critically acclaimed performance in Swades lost in the National Awards race to Saif Ali Khan in 2004. When Shah Rukh addressed his National Award snub The video is from an event organised by Tag Heuer in the late 2000s. It shows Shah Rukh on stage with director Kunal Kohli and anchor Mandira Bedi. Shah Rukh addresses a query from Kunal about his favourite films and says, "See, main dil ka bahut acha hoon. Saari filmein achi lagti hain, saare hero ache lagte hain, saari heroine achi lagti hain, har cheez achi lagti hai (I am good by heart. I like all films, all heroes, and all heroines). I am a simple-minded person; I like everything, including your films. I have loved them all." He then addresses Kunal's films and adds, "Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story." Shah Rukh breaks into laughter towards the end, and even Kunal Kohli manages a sheepish smile at the comment. Fans agree with Shah Rukh The video resurfaced after Shah Rukh's National Award win on Friday night. It was shared on Reddit with the title: "Throwback to the time SRK publicly said that he should have won the National Award in 2005 for Swades than Saif for Hum Tum." Most fans agreed with Shah Rukh's assertion in the comments section. One comment read, "Agreed here. I can't fathom how even Hum Tum was considered for Saif to get the award.I've watched Hum Tum, and I like it, but did I believe it was what makes Saif National Award worthy? No, absolutely not!" Another added, "He truly deserved it for Swades, tbh." One fan tried to explain why Shah Rukh missed out on the award that year. "Unfortunately for him, TS Nagabharana was on the jury that year and openly questioned the integrity of Swades, even claiming it plagiarised his own film," read the comment. Shah Rukh has often said that the box office failure of films like Swades, where he experimented with something different, forced him to reconsider his choices, leading him to do more commercial films later in his career. Many fans wondered if a National Award win for the film would have changed that. "What a pity. Although Swades without an award is no less. But it would have been such a great moment for him and would've somehow healed some of the scars of Swades' BO failure. Might have made him choose similar films at least one more time, which he never did because of Swades' BO failure," wondered one Redditor. About the 71st National Film Awards At the 71st National Film Awards, Shah Rukh shared the Best Actor prize with Vikrant Massey, who was adjudged joint winner for his performance in 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. 12th Fail also won Best Film. Later on Friday, Shah Rukh took to Instagram and posted a video message of gratitude, thanking his Jawan director Atlee, fans, his team, and also his family. Talking about what the National Award win means for him, Shah Rukh said, "The National Award is not just about achievement. It's a reminder that what I do matters. It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating, and keep serving cinema. In a world full of noise, to be truly heard is a blessing. And I promise to use this recognition not as a finish line, but as fuel to continue striving, learning, and giving back. This award is a reminder that acting is not just work, but a responsibility to show truth on the screen."

Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn's comedy struggles with Rs 6.75 crore debut amid poor reviews

Ajay Devgn's latest comedy outing, Son of Sardaar 2, co-starring Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Deepak Dobriyal in lead roles, finally hit theatres on Friday. The film opened to a decent response at the box office, collecting around Rs 6.75 crore (India net) on its first day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film recorded an overall Day 1 occupancy of 22.56%, starting with just 10.24% during morning shows, improving to 17.88% in the afternoon, 21.84% in the evening, and peaking at 40.27% during night shows, nearly double its early-day performance. In terms of regional performance, Tier-2 cities like Lucknow and Jaipur led the occupancy charts with 39% and 37%, respectively. Meanwhile, traditional strongholds for Hindi films like Delhi-NCR and Mumbai lagged slightly behind, recording 30.50% and 20.25% occupancy respectively. What's striking, however, is how Son of Sardaar 2 opened significantly lower than Ajay's last release, another sequel, Raid 2, which had a solid opening day collection of Rs 19.25 crore. In comparison, the new film's first-day figure is also less than half of Shaitaan, Ajay's recent horror blockbuster, which had opened at Rs 14.75 crore. That said, it still fared better than Maa, starring Kajol, which managed Rs 4.5 crore on its opening day last month. Also Read | Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi's Dhadak 2 seethes with the rage of filmmaker Shazia Iqbal Despite the modest opening, Son of Sardaar 2 did manage to outperform its immediate competition, Shazia Iqbal's Dhadak 2, which collected just Rs 3.35 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. Both films, however, are struggling to draw audiences in the face of stiff competition from Mohit Suri's romantic musical Saiyaara, which is currently in its second week and has already amassed a staggering Rs 285.75 crore. Interestingly, Son of Sardaar 2 was initially scheduled for release last week. However, in light of Saiyaara's unexpected box office dominance, Ajay chose to delay the release by a week to avoid any sort of indirect clash, a strategic move in contrast to 2012, when the original Son of Sardaar released opposite Yash Raj Films' Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Back then, despite immense pressure, Ajay went ahead with the clash, which ended up affecting both films' long-term box office performance. Whether the sequel can sustain and grow in the coming days remains to be seen.
