Karol G Does Quinceañera-Core in a Ruffled Ivory Gown
Karol G was tropical and flirty as she celebrated the release of her album Tropicoqueta in New York City last night.
The Colombian singer, in partnership with Spotify, hosted an immersive experience at Paradise Club in the Times Square EDITION to welcome her rhythmic, vibrant fifth studio album.
For the evening, Karol G slipped on a strapless ivory maxi dress with a corseted bodice and layers of ruffles all over. She accessorized with diamond jewelry, including a chunky chain necklace, and had on sparkly silver eyeshadow and a glossy red manicure. She wore her blonde hair down, straight, with blown-out wispy bangs, giving youthful, coquettish quinceañera energy.
At the album release party, attendees were taught several dance moves to go along with the singer's new tracks, and at one point, Karol G herself joined in on the fun. The artist also performed live for the first time since her latest tour, opening with intimate acoustic renditions of 'Dile Luna,' 'Se Puso Linda,' and 'Amiga Mía,' the latter for which she brought two fans up on the stage to sing with her.
In Tropicoqueta (coqueta being Spanish for coquettish or flirty), Karol G diverts from her previous reggaeton-focused music, exploring instead a wide range of Latin genres, including Colombian vallenato, Cuban mambo, Dominican dembow, regional Mexican music, Brazilian funk, and Argentinian cumbia villera.
'This album is an homage to all those Latin music genres I grew up listening to,' Karol G told Billboard Español last month.

Still, she never wavered in her devotion to the city that raised her. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.' Parker also confirmed that she and showrunner Michael Patrick King mutually decided it was time to end the 'chapter' that was 'And Just Like That...' She referred to AJLT as a 'joy,' an 'adventure' and 'the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors' who were a part of the project. I think I have loved her most of all," SJP noted in a lengthy and emotional Instagram post after 'And Just Like That's cancellation was announced. Sarah Jessica Parker is writing off her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw, after And Just Like That was surprisingly canceled after the currently-airing Season 3. In an Instagram post Friday, shortly after the announcement, SJP shared a montage including all of her past fashionable looks on Sex and the City and it's modern sequel, And Just Like That. She also narrated her heartfelt caption in one final signature voiceover. 'She crossed streets, avenues, rubicons, so it seemed. She broke hearts, heels, habits. She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short and into puddles. Aged, got wiser. She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions,' Parker wrote and said in the post. 'Traveled near and far. For the new, the vintage, friends and love.' Parker continued to recap the growth and changes her character handled throughout both series. "Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City," she said. "She had dates, drinks, boyfriends, a husband and truly great loves and romances. She hailed cabs, she ran in heels and danced with Stanford. She told the truth and she lied. "Shy" appears on Rapp's new album Bite Me, which she announced in May and came out on Friday, Aug. 1. She spoke about how her mom manifested her becoming a pop star during an appearance on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler in May, thanks to her name's alliteration. "My mom chose my first and last name to be, well, okay, arguably chose my first and last name to both have [two letter R's]," she recalled. "She was like, 'Alliteration, just in case she wants to be a pop star' before I was born." Though Rapp admitted that her mom's decision was "conceited," she is "obsessed with the way [her mother] did it." "I'm like, thank you, God," she added. Poehler, 53, was impressed with how things came to be. "She gave you a pop star name just in case, because Reneé Rapp is a huge pop star name," the Parks and Recreation star said. Rapp, who released her album Snow Angel in August 2023, told PEOPLE about the inspiration behind the project. "All the songs I write obviously are about things that I've been through personally, but I think that any relationship I've ever had in my life is all culminated into one on this project and in these songs," she said at the time.
