Wife 'decapitated by husband who then carried her head to police station'

A horrific incident has occurred in India where a man allegedly decapitated his wife and then presented her severed head to the police. Shankar, 28, from Hennagara near Bengaluru, is accused of committing the gruesome act after he reportedly found his wife in a compromising position with another man at their rented home. Local police sources have described the couple as having a "loving marriage" before they moved to the area recently. On June 3, Shankar is said to have gone to work and returned late to find his spouse allegedly with another man. Following an alleged attack on both parties, he is claimed to have beheaded his wife and then turned himself in at the Suryanagar Police Station. There are reports suggesting the couple was experiencing marital problems. The wife had reportedly expressed a wish to separate but still visited the house frequently, leading to ongoing disputes, neighbours say. The final argument on Thursday is reported to have escalated, culminating in the tragic killing, reports the Mirror. After the deed, Shankar is said to have ridden his motorcycle to the local police station with his wife's severed head and gave himself up to the authorities. Suryanagar police are conducting an inquiry into the matter, with more information to be released in time. Following a gruesome event in South Dakota, US, 34-year-old Bowen Fladland is accused of decapitating his 70-year-old mother, Marlene Fladland, and burying her remains in the front garden of his residence. He faces charges of first-degree and second-degree murder earlier this month. Police discovered the victim's body on July 8, although investigators suspect she met her untimely death at least three days prior. In another shocking case, it has come to light that a cocaine-addled Scottish postman beheaded his girlfriend after lamenting that her waitress shifts left him feeling "lonely." Ewan Methven brutally murdered 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn in her East Kilbride home, using three knives to stab her 20 times. The High Court in Glasgow was informed that Methven viciously attacked his partner, severing her head and attempting to dismember her limbs and torso. During a call to emergency services, he confessed to the operator that he had been "trying to muster up the courage to phone" following the incident, claiming he "totally blacked out through the thing." The 27 year old awaits sentencing this month.

Cambodia accuses Thailand of 'reckless and brutal' military aggression as fighting breaks out along border

The Thai military said fighting had occurred at six different locations along its border with Cambodia. Cambodia "strongly condemns the reckless and brutal military aggression of the Kingdom of Thailand against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cambodia," it said in a statement, adding Thai fighter jets had been deployed and had dropped two bombs on a road. Thailand's military deployed an F-16 fighter jet against Cambodia's armed forces on Thursday, the Thai army said, as weeks of tension over a border dispute escalated into clashes that have killed at least two civilians. Of the six F-16 fighter jets that Thailand has readied to deploy along the disputed border, one of the aircraft fired into Cambodia and destroyed a military target, the Thai army said. Both countries accused each other of starting the clash early on Thursday. "We have used air power against military targets as planned," Thai army deputy spokesperson Richa Suksuwanon told reporters. Cambodia's defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation on the air strike. The skirmishes came after Thailand recalled its ambassador to Cambodia late on Wednesday and said it would expel Cambodia's envoy in Bangkok, after a second Thai soldier in the space of a week lost a limb to a landmine that Bangkok alleged had been laid recently in the disputed area. For more than a century, Thailand and Cambodia have contested sovereignty at various un-demarcated points along their 817 km land border, which has led to skirmishes over several years and at least a dozen deaths, including during a weeklong exchange of artillery in 2011. Tensions were reignited in May following the killing of a Cambodian soldier during a brief exchange of gunfire, which escalated into a full-blown diplomatic crisis and now has triggered armed clashes. The clashes began early on Thursday near the disputed Ta Moan Thom temple along the eastern border between Cambodia and Thailand, around 360 km from the Thai capital Bangkok. ADVERTISEMENT "Artillery shell fell on people's homes," Sutthirot Charoenthanasak, district chief of Kabcheing in Thailand's Surin province, told Reuters, describing the firing by the Cambodian side. "Two people have died," he said, adding that district authorities had evacuated 40,000 civilians from 86 villages near the border to safer locations. Cambodia's influential former premier Hun Sen in a Facebook post said two Cambodian provinces had come under shelling from the Thai military. Thailand this week accused Cambodia of placing landmines in a disputed area that injured three soldiers. Phnom Penh denied the claim and said the soldiers had veered off agreed routes and triggered a mine left behind from decades of war. Cambodia has many landmines left over from its civil war decades ago, numbering in the millions according to de-mining groups. But Thailand maintains landmines have been placed at the border area recently, which Cambodia has described as baseless allegations.
