A Powys border farm machinery dealer has saved jobs after expanding its operating area in the north of the UK.
Mellington-based RVW Pugh Ltd is the Massey Ferguson franchise owner for Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Mid Wales.
Following the closure of Malpas Tractors, RVW Pugh Ltd has expanded into the Lancashire area for Merlo, Sumo, Hi-Spec, Vaderstad and AVR customers.
The company has retained the employment of former Malpas Tractors staff members, who have knowledge of the area and the local market.
Robert Pugh, Managing Director of RVW Pugh Ltd said: 'We are delighted to be able to take on the Lancashire area for the Merlo, Sumo, Hi-Spec, Vaderstad and AVR brands, as well as welcoming our new team members to the company.'
RVW Pugh Ltd will have a dedicated area sales manager for the area, as well as a depot for parts sales, warranty enquires and repairs and maintenance work in Lathom.
The company will also be taking on the warranty commitments for the Merlo, Sumo, Hi-Spec and Vaderstad branded machinery.
The depot is open for AGCO parts, along with a wide range of tools, wearing parts and other merchandise for day-to-day farming jobs.
Emma Pugh, Business Manager for RVW Pugh Ltd added: 'We have a new depot for the Lancashire area and would encourage any former customers of Malpas Tractors with outstanding warranties with the Merlo, Sumo, Hi-Spec and Vaderstad brands to contact us with any queries they have.'

DXB airport: No more unpacking electronics and liquids from hand luggage

Tired of queuing at Dubai International Airport security? Well, it's about to get much smoother and quicker. A major upgrade to screening technology is on its way to DXB, which will mean you no longer have to awkwardly take out your liquids or electronics. The world's busiest international airport is installing new machinery at both hold and passenger baggage screening, which would allow laptops and liquids to stay in bags. Artificial intelligence can very quickly and powerfully check that everything in your hand luggage is safe to take on board. An agreement between Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects and Smiths Detection means that new state-of-the-art checkpoint scanners will soon be coming to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The world's busiest international airport will get advanced HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX Model-S computed tomography scanners, which will be capable of high-resolution 3D imaging at security. These high-tech scanners can get a look inside your carry-on baggage without the need for you to unpack your laptop, tablet, phone, drinks or toothpaste. The new machines are currently in the trial phase, and a wider rollout depends on successful testing. The new system also comes with several smart features which should speed up your journey through security. You can expect intelligent lane management combined with automated tray return systems, which should stop you fumbling around for a tray. Software will also be able to help automatically identify objects within the system. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group said that the new scanners help Dubai lead in the way in aviation. He said: 'Dubai continues to lead the world in aviation excellence by investing in the latest security screening technologies. 'This project strengthens passenger safety, enhances the travel experience, and reinforces Dubai's reputation as a global aviation hub.' Xbox layoffs expected to hit up to 2,000 people claims source

The next batch of Xbox layoffs could be the worst so far, with an industry insider predicting studio closures as well. It's been reported for some time that Microsoft is planning another major wave of layoffs throughout the company and a couple of days ago it was claimed that the Xbox division would be amongst those impacted. These layoffs will supposedly happen by the end of June, but previously no exact figures were given for how many people would be affected. If a new rumour is to be believed though, Xbox could lose upwards of 2,000 employees – approximately 10% of its entire workforce. The prediction comes from respected game designer George Broussard, who previously co-founded Apogee Software, better known nowadays as 3D Realms, and was one of the creators behind the Duke Nukem games. In a Bluesky post from earlier this morning, Broussard claims to have heard 'internal developer stuff' from within Microsoft, with anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 people expected to be let go. Not only that, but there are concerns that entire studios could be shut down, which is sadly all too believable. After all, Microsoft killed no less than three studios last year, including Tango Gameworks, despite its last game, Hi-Fi Rush, winning several awards and purportedly being a success in the eyes of Microsoft. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. News has reported imminent Xbox layoffs but I'm hearing internal developer stuff where people at most studios are anxious and worried. Word that entire studios may be shuttered. Expectation is 1000-2000 people. Xbox unit has about 10k people in it?, so 10-20%? Good luck to all involved. Brutal. — George Broussard (@ 2025-06-26T02:08:57.231Z Although Broussard estimates that Xbox has roughly 10,000 employees, our research puts the number at about 19,450, once you take into account subsidiaries like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. Regardless, the worst case scenario of Microsoft letting go 2,000 employees would take a hefty chunk out of the Xbox workforce, putting the total post-pandemic losses at well over 4,000. That includes 650 employees that were let go last September, and almost 2,000 job cuts at the beginning of 2024. So far, more than 2,500 Xbox employees have been let go since Microsoft finalised its $75 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard, which remains the most expensive acquisition in the history of the games industry. Even if the actual numbers are at the lower end of Broussard's estimate, the next round of layoffs will bring the total job losses at Xbox to more than 3,500. More Trending While some cuts were inevitable, to eliminate duplicate jobs post-acquisition, the sheer volume of layoffs is well above the normal and exacerbated by both post-pandemic bloat and Microsoft's enthusiasm for AI. Microsoft may also be looking to cut costs due to the Activision Blizzard purchase not being as lucrative as hoped, with the addition of Call Of Duty games on Xbox Game Pass barely improving subscriber numbers and the series as a whole still bleeding players. This combined with dwindling hardware sales is no doubt what made Microsoft decide to port Xbox exclusives to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, in a bid to bump up its revenue. Yet despite its games reaching new audiences and performing particularly well on PlayStation, it doesn't appear to be enough for Microsoft, not if it's considering killing more studios to help save money. Redesigned 2026 Kia K4 Spied In California Ahead Of Debut

US-Spec Kia K4 Sedan Spied The 2026 Kia K4 has been spotted on American roads completely undisguised (since we already know what it looks like), heralding an imminent launch for the automaker's surprisingly popular sedan, which has helped Kia achieve remarkable sales this year. Its distinctive design hasn't hurt sales, but the Korean automaker is already making significant changes to its styling, and this test mule appearing on Orange County roads without any camouflage means those changes are almost ready to reach the dealer. New Headlights Give K4 Robotic Look The current Kia K4 has headlights that stretch in three directions: toward the rear of the fenders, toward the bottom of the bumper, and toward the center of the front fascia. Similarly, the rear end has a taillight setup where the housings have both vertical and horizontal bars, which almost creates the commonplace full-width lightbar. For the new model, that quirky design has improved somewhat, as the headlights are now simpler and more upright, which gives us EV9 vibes. At the rear, the taillights now stretch into the fenders, and the horizontal accents have been removed. A pair of small spoilers on either end of the rear windshield also appear to be new. Final Testing Now Underway With minimal white vinyl on elements like the bumpers, door handles, charging port, rear fenders, and side skirts, as well as what appear to be production wheels (missing their center caps, though), this K4 sedan prototype seems like the finished product. Although we've hardly seen the new K4 anywhere on the internet, this may already be our last preview, as the new design is expected to arrive for the 2026 model year. Hopefully, it will retain the attractive pricing of the pre-facelift version, which starts at a scarcely believable $21,990, before destination and handling. With the effects of tariffs still casting doubt on pricing, speculating on how much the MSRP may change is probably fruitless, but a small increase seems likely. If you don't mind the current design (seen below), there will probably be some good incentives for the 2025 model when the 2026 variant arrives at dealers.
