Matthew Lawerence wants to resurrect Robin Williams' voice with AI
Lawrence, 45, told Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend that he wants his 'Mrs. Doubtfire' co-star — who died by suicide at age 63 in 2014 — to become the new 'voice of AI.'
'I would love — now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family — but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic,' Lawrence said.

'It's not just the fact that I knew him and worked with him and so it's in my head — it's in everybody's head,' the actor added. 'And it would be so cool.'

The idea, according to Lawrence, recently came to him when he was watching an old television commercial with Williams' voice.

'It's kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what's going on commercial that he did, where he did this computerized voiceover,' Lawrence explained. 'And it always stuck with me.'
'And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I'm like, 'Man, he's gotta be the voice of A.I. He's gotta be the voice in something,'' the 'Boy Meets World' star continued. 'So yeah, I would love to do that.'

Lawrence added that there's endless possibilities with using Williams' voice as AI, including for navigation on cellphones.
'It would be Robin!' Lawrence happily stated. 'It would be so cool. I'm telling you.'

During the SAG-AFTRA strike in Oct. 2023, Williams' daughter, Zelda Williams, put out a statement slamming the use of AI to recreate the late comedian.
'I am not an impartial voice in SAG's fight against AI,' Zelda, 35, wrote on social media. 'I've witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad.'

'I've already heard AI used to get his 'voice' to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings,' Zelda continued. 'Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance.'
Lawrence was a preteen when he played Williams' son, Chris Hillard, in 1993's 'Mrs. Doubtfire.'
At the first annual '90s Con in 2022, Lawrence recalled how Williams — who struggled with substance abuse before his death — warned him to 'stay away' from drugs while they were shooting the film together.

'[Williams] was very serious. He was like, 'You know when you come to my trailer and you see me like that?'' Lawrence shared. 'He's like, 'That's the reason why. And now I'm fighting for the rest of my life because I spent 10 years doing something very stupid every day. Do not do it.' I stayed away from it because of him.'

In April, Lawrence told EW that the 'Jumaji' star also gave him two important life lessons: the 'type of compassion you need to have for people' and how you 'don't judge until you walk in someone else's shoes.'
'He really quantified what it was to be a real artist for me in the sense that he was definitely,' Lawrence said, 'and I worked with some great people, and he was definitely the most brilliant artist I've ever worked with.'

New sequel, new hook, new look. The Fisherman is back to terrorize another group of friends in the latest 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' sequel, and with him is a fresh outfit to torment one more generation of scary movie fans. Mari-An Ceo, the costume designer behind the slasher villain's new look, has opened up about how this movie's Fisherman costume differs from the one featured in the 1997 original. Getty Images for A24 'The original one was basically made out of just vinyl, which cinematically looked great in the movie from 1997,' Ceo exclusively told The Post. 'But of course, we've got to make everything much more intense now with how they shoot, with the new digital cameras and whatnot.' 'So we actually went through quite a process of testing different fabrics,' she shared. 'The fabric we ended up with was a wax cotton, and we painted quite a bit into it to make it look like it was wet.' Advertisement 'So it was actually a lot of work just to get that jacket to where it was that they really loved filming it, and it had to move and do all the special things that you need a costume to do, especially in a movie like this,' Ceo added. 'And then as we were looking at it on the actor, and it's moving, Jen's like, 'I don't know. Maybe we can do something else?' And we all sort of thought that.' After playing around with different concepts regarding how the costume could look, they came up with one new idea in particular. 'So it became this whole thing,' Ceo continued. 'Like, you know, maybe it's a hood, maybe it's this, and we had all these different ideas. 'So that was the redesign for the new movie.' Besides a darker and more menacing new costume, the Fisherman in the latest 'IKWYDLS' is also armed with an upgraded ice hook to torture and kill his victims. 'Props and the art department were also incredible on this. They had to make it a little more dangerous and pointy, but also make it safe.' 'Their clothes were just based on the characters for this. But we did reference some things from the original for what we did here.' As for the movie's costume design itself, Ceo said that she was proud of how it all ended up looking on the big screen. 'We put a lot of thought and effort into it,' she said. 'I liked how everybody wore it, and they were all super happy and comfortable in their clothes.' While at Comic-Con as Paramount unveiled the official trailer and details for the upcoming scripted audio drama Star Trek: Khan . The series will debut on September 8, Star Trek Day, with new episodes dropping every Monday. The podcast dives deep into one of the franchise's most iconic villains, Khan Noonien Singh, chronicling his downfall on the unforgiving world of Ceti Alpha V. The story fills in the untold years between Star Trek: The Original Series episode 'Space Seed' and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan , exploring how a man who saw himself as a savior became the vengeful force fans remember. The big news from Hall H was the return of two beloved franchise veterans. George Takei reprises his role as Captain Hikaru Sulu, while Tim Russ returns as Ensign Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager . They join Naveen Andrews, who stars as Khan Noonien Singh, and Wrenn Schmidt as Lieutenant Marla McGivers. Additional casting includes Sonya Cassidy as Dr. Rosalind Lear, Olli Haaskivi as Delmonda, Maury Sterling as Ivan, Mercy Malick as Ursula, and Zuri Washington as Madot.
