Security tightened in Haryana's Nuh for Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra today
Heightened security comes against the backdrop of viloence during the yatra two years back, triggering riots across several districts of south Haryana. The clashes erupted after a mob attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in Nuh on July 31, 2023.
On the fourth day of Shravan today, Jalabhishek Yatra is scheduled to be carried out in the Nuh district. The police have stepped up security measures including drones for surveillance to check any untoward incident.
Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar said that 18 police companies have been deployed for the Jalabhishek Yatra. He added that 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and crowd management.
"The police have made security arrangements for the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. The Yatra will start from Nuh and reach a temple while passing through Jhirka. Eighteen police companies have been deployed. 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of the Jalabhishek Yatra and to carry out traffic duties while managing the crowd," SP Kumar told reporters here.
"Those who have a record of trying to hinder the Yatra through videos or other means have been restrained from joining the Yatra. Following the court's directives, we are ensuring that no anti-social elements, who can hinder the Yatra by delivering provocative speeches, will be restricted from joining the Yatra. We will also take strict action against those who fail to follow directives issued by the police," he added.
Recently, the Haryana government ordered the temporary suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district amid apprehensions of communal tension and public disorder.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Home Affairs under Section 20 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 and Rule 3 of the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024, the suspension will remain in effect from 9:00 PM on July 13 to 9:00 PM on July 14.
The order read, "Whereas, it has been brought to my notice by ADGP/CID, Haryana and Deputy Commissioner, Nuh vide their requests dated 13.07.2025 that there is an apprehension of causing tension, annoyance, agitation, damage of public & private property and disturbance of public peace & tranquility in the district Nuh."
"There is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in district Nuh on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours, which are being/could be transmitted/circulated to the public through social media/messaging services on mobile internet services, SMS services and other dongle services," it added.
"In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities," the order stated.
The state government has also warned that any person found violating the terms of the suspension order will face legal action under relevant provisions of law.

Jaipur: BJP MLA from Hawa Mahal, Balmukundacharya, stirred controversy Sunday, after his photo of sitting in the chair of Ramganj police station SHO went viral on social media. The image, which the legislator posted from his official handle, showed him presiding over a meeting with police personnel. In the caption, Balmukundacharya said he held discussions with SHOs of Ramganj, Galta Gate, and Manak Chowk police stations on ensuring safety of Kanwariyas during the upcoming Kanwar Yatras in the month of Shravan. However, the post sparked criticism, with several senior police officials privately expressing concern over the optics. "It has become a common practice for legislators to sit in the SHO's chair during their visits to police stations," one senior officer said. Another inspector added such practices undermine institutional boundaries. "Would any MLA or MP dare to sit in the chair of an IPS officer? If not, why should inspectors tolerate this?" he said. Congress MLA from Adarsh Nagar, Rafeek Khan, also criticised the photo, posting on X: "What is the BJP MLA trying to prove by authoritatively sitting in the SHO's chair at Ramganj police station? Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra Begins In Haryana's Nuh Amid Heightened Security

Seers from UP and Rajasthan also participated in the procession The Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra began on Monday from the Nalhar Mahadev temple in Haryana's Nuh amid heavy security, following the vandalism of a mazar in Tauru the previous night. Authorities have heightened security measures to ensure peace during the religious procession. The 80-kilometre yatra will pass through Jhir Mandir in Ferozepur Jhirka and conclude in Singar by Monday evening, news agency PTI reported. The yatra is taking place under strict security following communal clashes during the same event in 2023, which resulted in six deaths. Police said that an unidentified group of people damaged a mazar in Sainipura area of Tauru town in Nuh district late Sunday. In response, a large number of police personnel have been deployed at the site. Officials have reassured residents that the situation is under control and peaceful. 'The administration is taking necessary action in connection with the damage to the mazar in Tauru. It will be ensured that the Jalabhishek yatra is organised in a peaceful and harmonious environment in the district," PTI quoted Nuh Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena as saying. Seers and devotees from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan have participated in the procession, which marks the first Monday of the Shravan month. Nuh's Additional Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Malik said all security and logistical arrangements are in place. 'People from all communities have set up welcome gates at different points and are showering flower petals on devotees to welcome them. This shows the brotherhood and bond which people in the Mewat region shared with one another. Many people are offering their services as volunteers. Today is the first Monday of Shravan month and there is great enthusiasm among devotees," Malik said. 2,500 Cops Deployed, Schools Shut To prevent any disruption, around 2,500 police personnel have been deployed. All schools in the district have been closed. Further, internet services will remain suspended till 9 pm on July 14. The carrying of weapons, including licensed arms and sharp objects, has been strictly prohibited. Only Sikh kirpans are exempted from the restriction. Additionally, the use of DJs, loudspeakers or sound-amplifying devices with content that is religiously provocative or hurts the sentiments of any community is also strictly prohibited during the yatra, according to an order issued by the authorities.
