Land in 2k villages within 15 days: CM Nayab Saini in outreach to Kumhars; assures aid under Rural Industrial Scheme
Saini's announcement came during an event to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Daksha Prajapati in Bhiwani. The Prajapati community is linked to the Kumhars, who are traditionally associated with pottery and clay work. They make up for 2.7% of the state's population, according to a 2019 estimate.
During the day, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 19 projects worth Rs 234.38 crore. This included the inauguration of six projects worth Rs 87.42 crore and the foundation stone of 13 projects worth Rs 147 crore.
Saini announced that in the next 15 days, land will be allocated to the Prajapati community in 2,000 villages of the state where panchayat land is available, ensuring the community has access to soil for making earthen pots. Beneficiaries will receive detailed information, including khasra numbers, about the land, he said.
The CM also distributed land rights letters to Prajapati community members in Bhiwani.
He announced that financial assistance will be provided to the people of the community who start micro-enterprises under the 'Haryana Rural Industrial Scheme'.

Under this, a capital subsidy at the rate of 15% will be given on investment made on machinery and building construction in B, C, and D category blocks of the state. Apart from this, an interest subsidy of 7% per annum on term loans, with a maximum benefit of Rs 8 lakh annually, for a duration of 7 years would also be provided.
Saini said the art of crafting clay utensils was a treasured heritage. "Pottery making is not just an art; it symbolizes the artistic vision, skill, and expertise of the Prajapati community," he said.
The CM announced Rs 1.29 crore for various works in the Prajapati community dharamshalas across the state.

At a time when the BJP is attempting to corner the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in Bengal over the issue of undocumented immigration from Bangladesh, accusing it of turning a blind eye to the alleged problem because of electoral compulsions, the Mamata Banerjee-led party has attempted to counter by raising the issue of alleged mistreatment of Bengali migrant labourers in other states such as Odisha, Delhi, and Assam. On Wednesday, Banerjee will lead a rally in Kolkata in protest against the 'humiliation' of Bengali migrant workers. Her party believes the issue can have broad resonance, given the huge number of people from Bengal engaged in informal work outside the state. The TMC believes this strategy will once again help it impress upon the electorate that the BJP is a party of 'bohiragatos (outsiders)' that does not have the interests of Bengali migrants at heart and is more concerned about polarising the political atmosphere by stoking fears about undocumented migrants from Bangladesh. 'This high-pitched campaign not only spread the message that the BJP is anti-Bengali and cannot rule Bengal, but also sends a message to migrant workers … There are at least 50 lakh migrants from our state, and a majority of them are from the minority community. Our campaign will give them the message that only TMC is standing behind them,' said a senior TMC leader. The campaign has picked up following a series of incidents faced by Bengali migrants in other states. On July 11, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, who has been conducting deportation drives, set off a row when he said those who identified Bengali as their mother tongue in the 2011 Census could be from Bangladesh. '… In Assam, Assamese is permanent — both as the state and official language. However, if they write Bengali in the Census, it will only quantify the number of foreigners in the state,' he told reporters in Guwahati. A few days earlier, on July 7, the Odisha Police detained 444 migrant workers in Jharsuguda district on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals. The migrants were from districts in West Bengal such as Nadia, Murshidabad, Malda, Purba Medinipur, Birbhum, Purba Bardhaman, and South 24 Parganas. Around 50 were later released, some after furnishing additional documentation. The following day (July 8), electricity and water supply were cut off in Delhi's Bengali-dominated Jai Hind Colony. This was based on a civil court's direction in May after allegations of power theft came to light. Banerjee and the rest of the TMC leadership have taken a strong stance against each of these incidents. Targeting Sarma, the ruling party in Bengal said in an X post that he 'was spewing venom through his statements'. It added, 'Where does this hatred stem from? Why this contempt for Bengalis and Bangla? Is it because the BJP was humiliated and rejected by the people of Bengal? If this is how you plan to capture Bengal, through HATE, BIGOTRY, and XENOPHOBIA, we pity you. The people of Bengal will not just reject you again, they will do so with an even bigger mandate. Mark our words.' On the Delhi incident, the CM said that a 'forced eviction is currently underway' in the colony. 'Speaking Bengali does not make one a Bangladeshi… Having failed in their attempts to deprive Bengalis in West Bengal, the BJP is now exporting their Bangla-Birodhi (anti-Bengali) agenda to other parts of the country in a strategic and systematic manner,' she said. On Monday, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghosh held a protest at the colony. The TMC's Krishnanagar MP, Mahua Moitra, has also echoed the CM in her response to the Odisha issue. She said such incidents had never occurred in '23 years of Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government'. 'Since the BJP came to power (in Odisha), this has become a daily occurrence,' she said. Moitra said, 'Fifty per cent of Odisha's tourism revenue comes from Bengali tourists. They are the ones who stay in your hotels, eat at your restaurants, visit your pilgrimage sites. What if Bengali tourists stop going to Odisha?' BJP's response Faced with the TMC marshalling its leaders and workers on the issue, the state BJP has looked to stand its ground. Newly elected Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya alleged that in the Odisha case, 335 of the 444 detained had 'fake documents issued by the TMC'. 'The TMC is flooding India with Bangladeshi infiltrators, who work in other states but return to Bengal just to vote for Mamata Banerjee. Every state must be extremely cautious while hiring labour or employees carrying fake Bengal-issued documents. This is not just a demographic threat, it's a national security concern,' he said. Countering this, the TMC wrote on X that a 'section of the BJP was carrying out a misinformation campaign'. 'If they are 'Bangladeshis', let the Odisha government present documentary proof,' said the party. It called on the BJP to stop 'criminalising an entire community just because they speak Bengali'. Last Friday, the Calcutta High Court sought a detailed report regarding allegations that migrant workers from West Bengal had been detained in Delhi and sent to Bangladesh. 'Have workers belonging to West Bengal been detained from Delhi and sent to Bangladesh?' the court asked. It instructed Chief Secretary Manoj Pant to liaise with his Delhi counterpart and submit a comprehensive report on the matter. As per sources, on June 18, six Bengali-speaking people were detained by the Rohini police in Delhi and taken to the N Katju police station. Mizoram CM invites PM Modi to inaugurate Bairabi-Sairang railway project
New Delhi/Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi and also invited him to formally inaugurate the newly completed Bairabi–Sairang railway line and the new Sairang Railway Station. An official of the Mizoram Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said that the Prime Minister expressed his willingness to do so in person, subject to the availability of time in his schedule. He said that during the meeting, several key issues concerning the development of Mizoram were discussed. The Chief Minister raised important matters, including the Thenzawl Peace City Project, a request to declare the Aizawl-Thenzawl road as a National Highway, and the implementation progress of the Handholding Policy. The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Chin Hills of Myanmar and its implications for Mizoram, the CMO official said. According to the official, Lalduhoma highlighted the need to expand piped gas connectivity to households in Aizawl, noting the ongoing Rs 9,265 crore Gas Pipeline Project being implemented by Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL). He urged the Prime Minister to implement a timely execution to reduce dependence on gas cylinders. In response, the Prime Minister assured his full support and conveyed his expectation that the Deputy Commissioner of Mamit District should take proactive steps to facilitate the pipeline work, the CMO official said. After the inauguration of the 51.38 km long Bairabi-Sairang new railway project, Mizoram's Aizawl would be the fourth capital city in the northeast region to be connected by a railway network. An official of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said that the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northeast Frontier Circle, Sumeet Singhal, after visiting the newly laid railway tracks between June 6 and June 10, authorised the NFR to operate both goods and passenger trains on the line. The Bairabi-Sairang new railway project has been divided into four sections -- Bairabi-Hortoki (16.72 km, commissioned in July 2024), Hortoki-Kawnpui (9.71 km), Kawnpui-Mualkhang (12.11 km), and Mualkhang-Sairang (12.84 km). The NFR official said that this milestone completes the entire 51.38 km new railway line project from Bairabi, near Assam's Hailakandi district, to Sairang, near Aizawl city, bringing direct rail connectivity to the Mizoram state capital for the first time. This transformative achievement is expected to significantly enhance passenger and freight movement, stimulate socio-economic growth, and fulfil a long-standing aspiration of the people of Mizoram to see trains arriving in the heart of their capital, the official said. Despite the tough terrain, commendable work has been carried out by the NFR. The official said that the Bairabi-Sairang new line railway project is an engineering marvel of the Indian Railways. The project, which lies in mountainous terrain, consists of 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 minor bridges. The total length of tunnels in this project is 12,853 meters. The height of bridge number 196 is 104 metres, which is 42 metres taller than the Qutub Minar. The project also includes five Road Over Bridges and six Road Under Bridges. After the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang new railway line, Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, would soon become the fourth NE state capital to be linked to the country's railway network after Assam, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
