
Consumers are beginning to turn away from AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, new data shows
Consumer anger over what has been termed as predatory practices is moving beyond social media. AT&T , T-Mobile , and Verizon have all raised prices in recent months. As a result, rivals including cable companies that have branched out into telecommunication and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) are gaining customers at a fast clip.

Cox, which has decided to merge with Charter, has approximately 200,000 mobile lines, which is impressive given the company only started offering mobile services across all its markets in January 2023. The company is believed to have been adding 20,000 to 25,000 phone lines every quarter, per data from research institute MoffettNathanson shared by Light Reading .

Overall, the cable industry accounted for 18 percent of total mobile industry gross additions, which is the total number of subscribers added in a period without accounting for cancellations. While impressive, this performance wasn't enough to beat out the Big 3 outdo T-Mobile (around 30 percent), Verizon (nearly 27 percent), and AT&T (approximately 24 percent).
It's easy to make a connection here: some, if not all, of the postpaid pain has been inflicted on AT&T , T-Mobile , and Verizon by cable companies.

Or will it remain exactly the same, and users will claim that this group of people wasted money for no reason?Either way, it seems that the overdue ending to this story is finally almost upon us.

Promised T-Mobile feature is live in T-Life for real this time
T-Mobile took a lot longer than anticipated to bring back self-service SIM swaps but the feature is finally working. Earlier this month, it was reported that T-Mobile 's T-Life app gained an option to let customers change SIM cards associated with their numbers on their own. This was a long-overdue change. The company disabled the feature in 2022 when SIM swap attacks, which let criminals hijack numbers for theft and other ill motives, became rampant. A huge update reinstated the feature, at least for iPhone users. However, it was later discovered that the feature didn't actually work for the vast majority of users. It failed at the last step. So, even though the feature popped up, it was as good as useless. The feature is now working, according to some customers. T-Mobile will likely iron out any bugs that are present to ensure the process is smooth and effortless. T-Mobile presumably wanted to put guardrails in place before bringing back the feature. It's not clear why the company kept the feature disabled after officially rolling it out. If we had to guess, it could be that T-Mobile was waiting for a company-wide implementation of the employee identification verification system CLEAR1 before enabling self-service SIM swaps. After all, employees who were persuaded by cybercriminals to assist with SIM swap attacks were one of the reasons they were successful. With this new identity assurance system in place, it's going to be much harder for bad actors to pull off SIM hijacking. T-Life has only gotten better over time, at least as far as the number of things it lets you do is concerned.
