‘A role model for us': Shubman Gill's 269 ignites Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Test cricket dreams in England
With India's U19 stars, currently facing England U19 in a youth ODI series, in attendance, Gill stroked his way to his maiden Test double hundred and later converted it to a mammoth 269, the highest-ever score by an Indian captain, surpassing Virat Kohli. Gill's masterclass has sparked dreams in the colts' camp, with Suryavanshi claiming the Punjab batter to be a role model.
'I am feeling very good. This is my first Test in England and I am seeing how the game is going. I am feeling very good. We all came to watch the match. We got a lot of inspiration. Shubman Gill is a role model for us. Everyone's dream is to play red-ball cricket for their country,' said Suryavanshi in a video released by BCCI.

The dashing southpaw who made the world sit up and take notice of his precocious six-hitting capabilities in the IPL 2025 season with the Rajasthan Royals has continued to send the bowlers on a leather hunt on his maiden tour to England. Suryavanshi, who struck the fastest century by an Indian in the history of the IPL in 35 balls, racked up his career-best youth ODI score earlier this week during the 3rd ODI against England U19.
Suryavanshi blazed his way to 86 runs in 31 balls, smashing the second-fastest fifty by an India U19 batter in 20 balls. Picking 78 of those runs in boundaries, Suryavanshi broke the record for most sixes in an innings by an Indian in youth ODIs, smashing nine sixes.
Former India batter VVS Laxman, the current head of BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE), facilitated the move for the India U19 players to watch action from the Edgbaston Test.
'VVS Laxman was instrumental in arranging this. He was the one who actually said that it would be a good thing to go and watch this game. It's definitely a special occasion for any upcoming cricketer to be at a Test venue,' India U19 head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar in a video posted by BCCI.

'People will ask if Shubman Gill trusts his attack': Ex-England captain on India's declaration delay
Shubman Gill NEW DELHI: Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes the pressure is firmly on India to push for a win on Day 5 of the second Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test at Edgbaston. With rain delaying the start of play and India needing seven more wickets to level the series, all eyes are on whether Shubman Gill 's side can seal the deal. India had reduced England to 72/3 by stumps on Day 4 after setting a mammoth 608-run target, but the rain on the final day has complicated their task. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "There is a lot of pressure on India. You must think a lot of England to set them 600," Hussain said on Sky Sports' broadcast. "If they get a draw, people will ask why they batted on so long, people will ask whether Gill trusts his attack. I think he does trust his attack but today will show whether they can get those seven wickets or not." Hussain also highlighted that England, once they resume their innings post rain delay, must continue to play with intent. "I think the focus is on (picking) the seven wickets rather than the target but also on how England play. They have very rarely been in this situation and openly stated they don't play for draws." Poll Who do you think is under more pressure in the final day of the Test? India England "I think they need positive intent and not to go into their shell. You don't want them just blocking but you don't want recklessness either. It's about winning the series, not just a one-off Test." Meanwhile, former England cricketer Mark Butcher suggested that if rain helps England secure a draw, it should be viewed as a moral victory for Ben Stokes' team. "I don't think it takes too much of a shift of attitude for England (to contemplate the draw). You could look upon escaping from this game as a win in itself." India Dominate Day 4! Siraj & Akash Deep Rattle England "England talk about being in the entertainment business — well, we can all remember entertaining draws, people on the edges of their seats with a wicket needed and three overs left, or whatever it might be. Are the fans going to be more entertained by you falling over in a heap or by you clinging on by your fingernails at the back end of the day?" "I think we know the answer to that. And I think it would be a massive feather in the cap of this team if they were able to do it. I also think that all the motivation England need was India not declaring until late last night. They are giving you a gilt-edged chance to escape from here without losing a match that they really and truly should have been buried in. Use that to your advantage," he concluded. England's Harry Brook and India's Shubman Gill (Photo by) A light-hearted moment from yesterday in the second Test between India and England has taken on new significance after rain washed out the opening hours of Day 5 at Edgbaston. A video featuring England batter Harry Brook warning Shubman Gill about incoming rain has gone viral, mainly because his cheeky prediction came true. During a break in play, Brook was heard joking with Gill: "Not 450 declared? Shubman, you know it's raining tomorrow. Half day. Afternoon. It's raining.' Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! To which Gill casually replied, 'Bad luck for us.' Brook responded with a grin: 'Take the draw.' Korean Comedian Ahn Sun Young Moves to Canada for Son's Ice Hockey Dreams
When Mom Becomes the Real MVP Imagine hustling for 26 years, building a name, a career, and a whole legacy-only to press pause for your kid's dream. That's exactly what Korean comedian Ahn Sun Young just did, and honestly, it's the kind of plot twist you'd expect in a K-drama, not real life. Ahn Sun Young, who debuted back in 2000 as an MBC comedian, dropped a bombshell on her YouTube channel: she's moving to Canada, leaving behind her entire career, all for her son's shot at ice hockey glory. She's not just any mom-she's been a TV star, an entrepreneur for eight years, and a full-time mom for ten. Now, she's packing her bags, wiping away a few tears (relatable, right?), and heading to the land of maple syrup and hockey sticks. Trading the Limelight for Ice Rinks So, what's pushing her to make such a massive move? Her son, Seo Baro, isn't just a sports enthusiast-he's got real talent. In a country where ice hockey is practically a religion, he managed to snag one of just 13 spots in a super competitive Canadian junior team, beating out thousands of local kids. That's like making it to the Ranji Trophy team in cricket on your first try-total legend move. Ahn Sun Young admits she's giving up everything she's worked for, but says it's all worth it for her son's dream. She even joked about crying, but you can tell she's proud and excited for this new chapter. And let's be real, how many parents would actually drop their own ambitions for their kid? It's the kind of sacrifice that hits different, especially in a world where everyone's chasing their own hustle. Reinventing Herself in a New Country But don't think she's just going to chill in Canada. Ahn Sun Young is already plotting her next move: she's planning to become a digital nomad , and is diving into the world of YouTube as a rookie creator. She says she doesn't see this as a break from work, but as a bold new adventure. Talk about turning a life detour into a power move! For Indian youth, this story feels super relatable. Whether it's cricket, engineering, or music, so many of us have seen parents go all-in to support our dreams-sometimes even at the cost of their own. The idea of moving countries, switching careers, or starting over for your kid is both scary and inspiring. Plus, with the whole digital nomad trend catching on, who knows? Maybe your mom will become the next big YouTuber too. Family, Sacrifice, and Chasing Dreams Ahn Sun Young's journey is a reminder that sometimes, the biggest wins come from taking risks for the people you love. It's not just about fame or money-it's about seeing your family succeed, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. Her story is a shoutout to every parent who's ever put their child's dreams first, and to every young person wondering if their family would do the same. It's wild, emotional, and honestly, kind of beautiful. Here's to all the moms and dads who are the real MVPs in our lives-whether they're cheering from the stands or moving across continents for us.
