Foundation Laid for Mission Bhagiratha Water Tank to Resolve Drinking Water Issues in Gattu Mandal Villages
The tank, being constructed at a cost of ₹19 lakhs, aims to address the drinking water scarcity in four villages—Chinnonipalli, Anthampalli, Idigonipalli, and Sankapuram. Acting on the instructions of Hon'ble MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, this project is a major step toward ensuring consistent potable water supply to the region.
Speaking on the occasion, former MPP J. Vijay Kumar stated that the water tank will significantly alleviate the long-standing drinking water issues in the area. He expressed gratitude to MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy for sanctioning the funds, District Collector B.M. Santosh, and Mission Bhagiratha engineering officials for their cooperation. He also urged the contractor to complete the construction promptly with high quality.

Sant Kabir award winner Srinivasulu is a boon to district: Collector
Tirupati: District Collector Dr S Venkateswar described renowned handloom artist and designer Lakka Srinivasulu as a 'boon to the district'. The Collector, accompanied by local MLA K Ramakrishna, inspected a collection of sarees woven by Srinivasulu during a visit to Venkatagiri on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkateswar expressed immense pride in the selection of Srinivasulu for the prestigious Sant Kabir Award, the highest national honour in the field of textiles and handlooms by the Government of India. He said, 'It is a matter of great pride for Tirupati district, particularly the Venkatagiri constituency, that a local artisan has received such a rare and coveted award. The Collector noted that only three artisans from the region have received the Sant Kabir Award so far, and this year, among only two recipients across the country, Lakka Srinivasulu is the sole awardee from Andhra Pradesh. His award-winning design is woven from 'Booda silk', a type of silk that is produced without killing the silkworm. The sarees incorporate intricate motifs crafted using 2 per cent gold and silver threads, creating a reversible design that is visible on both sides—a rare and remarkable feat in textile craftsmanship. 'This innovative and distinctive design has not been attempted anywhere else in the country,' the Collector added. MLA K Ramakrishna, who joined in felicitating Srinivasulu, praised his continued excellence in the handloom sector and expressed hope that the artist would win many more accolades in the future. Local leaders, including Mandal Parishad President Tanuja Reddy and State Padmashali Corporation Director Sriramadasu Gangadhar, also honoured Srinivasulu during the ceremony. District Handlooms officer R Ramesh, Tthsildar Venkata Narasimha Rao and others participated.

Wanaparthi District: The Central Committee from New Delhi visited Wanaparthi district on Saturday to inspect the welfare programs implemented by the Central and State Governments, especially how drinking and irrigation water is being provided to the people at the field level and what are the quality standards. The 28th team of the teams formed by the Central Government through NITI Aayog to visit the respective states of the country and inspect the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission Abhiyan at the field level and give an actual report, visited Wanaparthi district on Saturday. The team was led by NITI Aayog Deputy Secretary Arvind Kumar and was assisted by Deputy Director Central Water Commission Arun Kumar and Central Ground Water Board Scientist P. Yadav. The central team was welcomed by District Collector Adarsh Surabhi at the Collectorate. Later, a meeting was held in the conference hall and a report was presented through a projector on the drinking water policy being provided to the people through Mission Bhagiratha in Wanaparthi district and the steps taken to overcome the obstacles. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Secretary Arvind Kumar said that the central and state governments are jointly undertaking many programs to see India as a developed country in all sectors by 2047. He said that he will visit Wanaparthi district for two days on Saturday and Sunday to learn how these programs are being implemented at the field level and how the living standards of the people are improving and to submit a report. He said that he visited Achyutapur, Qasim Nagar, Kanayapalli Fresh Water Purification Center, Rajiv Bhima Lift Irrigation 2nd Canal in Wanaparthy district to find out how drinking water is being provided to the people of the district, what are the quality standards, and how problems are being overcome. District Collector Adarsh Surabhi said that clean drinking water is being provided to every household in Wanaparthy district, and a register has been set up there to clean overhead tanks three times a month. Similarly, he said that a large amount of water is being provided for irrigation for agriculture. He said that not only are ponds and ponds filled due to rains, but also reservoirs and ponds are being filled due to the river flow coming from above. He informed that programs such as water conservation, water sheds, roof top harvesting and setting up of indus pits are being carried out by the Rural Development Department to increase groundwater. "Assistive Devices Worth ₹21.27 Lakhs Distributed to 93 Differently-Abled Persons in Gadwal".
Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santhosh emphasized that differently-abled individuals should fully utilize the welfare schemes provided by the Central and State Governments. He stated that inclusive development and empowerment of every individual with disabilities is a key priority of the government. On Friday, a distribution event was held at the IDOC meeting hall under the aegis of the Department of Women, Child, Senior Citizens, and Differently-Abled Welfare, in collaboration with the Central Government. As part of the initiative, 114 high-tech assistive devices worth ₹21.27 lakhs were distributed to 93 eligible beneficiaries from the district through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The devices were handed over by Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy and District Collector Santhosh. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government is always ready to listen to and address the issues faced by differently-abled citizens. He recalled that a special camp was held on September 28 in Gattu mandal, where eligible beneficiaries were identified, and the required assistive aids were prepared and now provided. The initiative was carried out with the support of ALIMCO, a Government of India enterprise. He also highlighted various ongoing welfare programs for persons with disabilities (PwDs), such as: ₹4,000 monthly pension 4% reservation in government jobs Financial subsidies UDID cards for nationwide access to facilities He urged all differently-abled individuals to avail themselves of these schemes confidently and move forward with self-reliance. The distributed equipment included: 28 standard tricycles 35 battery-operated tricycles 7 wheelchairs 8 walking sticks 4 crutches 16 BTE (Behind-The-Ear) digital hearing aids with zinc-air batteries 12 TLM kits 2 accessible canes (Sugamya Canes) 2 smartphones equipped with screen readers MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, speaking at the event, reiterated the commitment of both the Central and State Governments to the welfare of the differently-abled. He acknowledged ALIMCO's role in supplying the much-needed equipment and assured continued efforts to provide more opportunities and support in the future. The program was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshmi Narayana and Narsinga Rao, District Welfare Officer Sunanda, ALIMCO representative Sunita Das, and several beneficiaries along with their families. This initiative reflects the government's inclusive approach toward social welfare and its commitment to ensuring dignity, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all.
