‘We're nauseatingly in love': Ted Danson brings his real-life romance to ‘A Man on the Inside'

Love and mystery collide in San Francisco as real-life couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen bring their romance onscreen.
The Golden Globe winner and his wife of 30 years have teamed up for Season 2 of the Netflix comedy series, ' A Man on the Inside. ' Steenburgen is set to play Danson's love interest on the show.
Danson, who plays a retired college engineering professor who is hired by a private investigator to go undercover at a Nob Hill retirement home, gushed about working with his wife on his 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast.
'It's just magical,' he said on the episode, released on Wednesday, June 11. 'We're falling in love. The story evolves, but I'm just head over heels. My character is in love with her, and to sit there on camera and look into your wife's eyes — and we're nauseatingly in love in private life — and just disappear into her eyes in front of a camera is pretty astounding.'
Steenburgen's character, Mona Margadoff, is a former musician and is expected to play a large role opposite Danson's Charles Nieuwendyk, according to Netflix's Tudum.
Others joining the show include Michaela Conlin ('Bones'), Gary Cole ('NCIS') and Max Greenfield ('New Girl').
This isn't Danson and Steenburgen's first time working together. They have co-starred in a number of projects over the years, including 'It Must Be Love' (2004), 'Gulliver's Travels' (1996) and 'Pontiac Moon' (1994). In the latter, they starred as a married couple, which sparked their real-life romance.
'By the way, if we suck, it's her fault,' Danson joked on the podcast episode. 'I just want to go on the record.'
'A Man on the Inside' featured a number of iconic San Francisco landmarks in its first season, from Oracle Park to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Palace of Fine Arts. The show's first eight episodes were released in November and it was named one of the American Film Institute's 2024 TV programs of the year.
The second season is expected to release later this year.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's $100 million Netflix deal won't be renewed: Report

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's $100 million deal with Netflix will not be renewed when it expires later this year, according to several reports. The couple signed the contract in 2020, but it will not be extended beyond 2025, a Hollywood insider tells Entertainment Weekly's sister publication PEOPLE. The move reflects "a shift in Netflix's broader business strategy," according to the outlet. An anonymous source also told The Sun that "there's no animosity from either side," and that "things have just run their course."EW has reached out to representatives for Netflix and the couple for comment. Markle and Prince Harry released a a handful of non-fiction projects on the streaming giant. The impending end of the deal will reportedly not impact the rollout of season 2 of Markle's lifestyle docuseries With Love, Meghan, which premiered in March and ran for eight episodes, featuring celebrity guests like Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer joining the Duchess of Sussex at her home and in her kitchen. In addition to With Love, Meghan, Netflix also rolled out the Liz Garbus-directed Harry & Meghan docuseries in 2022, which included six episodes revolving around the duo's life in the United States after stepping back from their duties as senior members of the British royal family. The couple formed their Archewell Productions company after announcing their decision to leave the royal family in January 2020, with the pair signing their deal with Netflix that September. Other Archewell projects at Netflix included Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo. "Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," the couple said at the time in a statement to the New York Times. "As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us." They added that Netflix's 'unprecedented reach" to subscribers will assist in their mission to "share impactful content that unlocks action." Their foray into entertainment wasn't entirely well received, however, with The View cohost Ana Navarro admitting on the air during a March broadcast that "some people like her, some people hate her, some people don't care," looking toward the camera while motioning toward herself. Former View cohost and conservative political commentator Meghan McCain also slammed Markle over With Love, Meghan, calling the series out of touch with audiences that Markle was attempting to reach with the show. 'I cannot stand her. I love people that I can relate to, like every other 40-year-old mom. I don't want to eat her jam,' McCain said on her digital talk series. 'I don't know what she's doing. This is like her ninth rebrand. I actually had to review her show and her podcast, and it was horrible. It was so boring." Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Bachelor Nation stars, including Gabby Windey and Nick Viall, are returning to reality dating TV as hosts of their own shows

Windey and Viall are among the the latest 'Bachelor' franchise alums announced as hosts of brand-new reality shows. What happens after you appear on a reality dating series? For these Bachelor Nation alums, the next step is to host one. In the past week, Bachelor and Bachelorette stars Gabby Windey, Nick Viall and his wife, Natalie, as well as Kaitlyn Bristowe and Colton Underwood, have all been chosen to host different reality TV dating shows for Netflix and Hulu. Bristowe and Underwood are the latest Bachelor Nation stars turned reality TV cohosts. The pair, who had respective stints as leads of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor, were announced on Monday as the hosts of Hulu's upcoming reality dating series Are You My First? which follows a group of virgins as they journey to find a lasting romantic love. The show is set to premiere on Aug. 18, with all 10 episodes dropping at once. The Vialls, meanwhile, were announced as hosts of Netflix's age-gap reality dating series Age of Attraction on July 17. Windey, another Bachelor Nation alum who has emerged as a reality TV queen since her stint on Season 3 of The Traitors, will also return to the small screen, this time as the host of Love Overboard, a new reality dating series under Alex Cooper's Unwell Productions. Here's everything we know about these new dating shows so far. 'Are You My First?' First times, first loves and first heartbreaks are at the forefront of Hulu's upcoming reality dating series Are You My First? hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe and Colton Underwood. Hulu's official synopsis of the show describes it as a 'groundbreaking new dating experiment' featuring 'the largest, hottest group of virgins ever assembled' as they 'search for intimacy, love — and maybe their first — in a tropical paradise designed just for them. For the first time, they're free to explore their connections without judgment, allowing these sexy young singles to embark on a heated yet heartfelt journey packed with romantic dates, revealing challenges, and new love interests eager to find 'the one.' Who will find that special someone? And who will go home hot, bothered and heartbroken?' Bristowe famously appeared on Season 19 of The Bachelor, and then once more as the lead on Season 11 of The Bachelorette. Underwood, before making history as the first lead in Bachelor franchise history to come out as gay, competed on Season 14 of The Bachelorette. All 10 episodes of Are You My First? will be released on Hulu on Aug. 18. 'Age of Attraction' Netflix announced that Viall and his wife, Natalie, who is 18 years his junior, are set to host an unscripted reality TV series called Age of Attraction. The show, according to Variety, will see a group of singles between ages 22 and 59 as they explore connections with one another to see if it's meant to last. The show, per Netflix, is described as a 'new dating experiment' that suggests 'it simply does not matter how many candles were on your last birthday cake or how few wrinkles have formed on your forehead.' Viall and Joy will help cast members 'search for their soulmates' and find out if 'age is just a number.' The eight-episode series, which was filmed in Whistler and Vancouver, British Columbia, is set to premiere sometime in 2026. 'Love Overboard' Windey, who made her Bachelor Nation debut as a contestant on Clayton Echard's season of The Bachelor in 2022 before costarring on Season 19 of The Bachelorette alongside Rachel Recchia, is returning to reality television — this time as a host. Alex Cooper's Unwell Productions has tapped Windey to host Love Overboard, a new reality dating series that takes place on a luxury yacht where contestants will compete for love and gain access to specific amenities based on how well their journeys are going. Hulu announced Windey as the show's host on July 14. According to the show's official press release, 'Get ready to hit the high seas with 'Love Overboard'! Step aboard the ultimate luxury yacht, where sexy singles are ready to mix and mingle … and find love. But there's a twist … gaining access to the yacht's extravagant amenities won't be so simple. As the journey unfolds, romance ignites; alliances form; and hearts are shattered. In the end, only one couple will reign supreme. Who will rise to the top, and who will be left stranded?' While an official release date hasn't been set, Love Overboard is expected to debut in 2026. Solve the daily Crossword

This film aptly capitalizes on the success that the K-pop genre has seen not only in South Korea, but all over the world. You've got crisp and colorful animation brought to you by the same crew that did Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, along with punchy action sequences and foot-tapping original music tracks that take inspo from the best of K-Pop, and you've got a clear recipe for success. So we know the inspiration for this film was K-Pop, but how did it all come about? Demons and K-Pop aren't really the first two things we think of when playing word association. Well, the film draws heavily from director Maggie Kang's South Korean roots along with South Korean folklore surrounding demons and mythology. Of course, Kang's love of K-pop was also a huge inspiration. The film is currently available to stream exclusively on Netflix. If you've missed the viral phenomenon, we'll catch you up to speed: The movie centers around world-renowned K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, as the members balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters. Each group and musical number was based loosely on some of your favorite K-pop acts, including MONSTA X and BLACKPINK to Itzy and EXO. K-Pop is interwoven throughout this endeavor. In fact, tracks featured in the film are even sung by former and current K-pop idols such as Kevin Woo from UKISS to Twice's track 'Takedown,' sung by members Jeongyeon Jihyo and Chaeyoung.
