‘Sirens' Debuts At No. 1 On Nielsen Top 10 As ‘The Last Of Us' Season 2 Concludes & ‘All American' Season 7 Generates Interest On Netflix

Netflix landed atop the Nielsen streaming charts in the final full week of May with the debut of its latest dark comedy Sirens. The series premiered on May 22, racking up 1.4B minutes streamed in just the first few days of release. Per Nielsen, it was the only title to surpass a billion minutes viewed from May 19 to 25. Interesting, Nielsen also says Sirens attracted a largely Millennial and Gen X audience, with adults 35-64 accounting for 57% of its watch time. While this may be the highest it has climbed in quite some time, make no mistake: NCIS is a stalwart on the Nielsen Top 10, having made 265 total appearances. In fact, it is actually the all-time top acquired program by number of appearances on the list, trailed by Grey's Anatomy. Hulu's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives picked up steam as Season 2 ventured into its second week post-premiere. The series came in at No. 4 with 810M minutes viewed, with the new season accounting for about 86% of viewing. This interval also just barely captured the Season 2 finale of HBO's The Last of Us. The series picked up another 707M minutes viewed this week, which includes the same-day viewing on Max for the May 25 finale. However, it's likely the series will make at least one more appearance on the Top 10 before it trails off as audiences wait for another season. Nielsen considers The Last of Us an acquired title, since it also airs on HBO and therefore Nielsen's streaming measurement doesn't fully capture the viewing for each episode. On streaming alone, Nielsen says TLOU generated 3.6B viewing minutes over the course of Season 2. Another acquired title that performed quite well during this week was The CW's All American, thanks to Season 7's arrival on Netflix. The series shot to No. 8 among acquired titles that week with 559M minutes viewed. Nielsen says 55% of its total watch time this week came from adults 18-49. Black viewers were also major contributors, accounting for 30% of viewing. See more below. New information on Norfolk sailor's death, name of suspect revealed

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The sailor in pre-trial confinement in connection to the death of Seaman Angelina Resendiz's death has been identified by the attorney for Resendiz's mother. There was an initial review officer's hearing at the Naval Consolidated Brig in Chesapeake, where Resendiz's mother, Esmeralda Castle, spoke. Attorney Marshall Griffin, representing Castle, was not at the hearing, but 10 On Your Side spoke to him exclusively, and he confirmed the name of the accused sailor as Jermiah Copeland, who he said will stay in pre-trial confinement due to the seriousness of the charges. NCIS: Body confirmed as missing Norfolk Naval Station sailor; Navy sailor in confinement 'The Navy confirmed that Jeremiah Copeland is the person being detained or confined, on suspicion in this case,' Griffin told 10 On Your Side. Griffin pointed out what needs to happen as the case moves forward. 'The government just has to show that a crime occurred and that there's some evidence that the accused committed the offense,' Griffin said. 'So the process at this stage is kind of built with the understanding that the government is not going to have what I would call a final charge sheet yet.' The initial review officer's hearing determines whether there is continued pre-trial confinement in the case. 'It is distinguishable from, like, bond hearing, because there's no amount of money,' Griffin said. 'It's not about money. The independent reviewing officer is considering criteria to determine whether the individual is a flight risk, or they're likely to engage in other misconduct, and consider the government's evidence whether a crime actually occurred.' Griffin said the specific charges against the sailor are not yet known, and that is still to be determined from the on-going investigation, and the evidence. 'They're probably going to look at cell phone records,' Griffin said. 'They're going to look at anything they have to try to learn more about the relationship, the involvement of other people, to the extent they have any evidence of that.' Castle read a statement by telephone during Monday's hearing, saying 'the person responsible for this horrific loss made deliberate choices that ended Angie's life. Their actions were not a mistake. They were a betrayal of trust, of duty, and of basic human decency.' Said Griffin: 'Obviously, the family is very concerned about the way it was handled, the circumstances that this person, may have been brought into proximity to the victim.' What happens next? 'So, once someone goes into pretrial confinement, the government has 120 days to arraign them,' Griffin said. 'Within those 120 days, they need to hold an Article 32 hearing if they're going to take him to a general court martial, which is the most serious.' Griffin said explanations for any slow response by the Navy to the missing sailor were because it thought it was case of Resendiz leaving voluntarily. 'From what I understand, the Navy's initial reaction was that it was an AWOL case that she had left voluntarily,' Griffin said, 'and that reaction appears to have maybe slowed things somewhat.' Griffin says the family is focused on justice and accountability for anybody involved, 'How did this happen? Were the notification procedures that were in place, were they followed? Did the people who were in place report this, detectives, did they do their jobs? We want to know the person who's responsible for actually hurting her,' Griffin said, '… and any people who were assisting.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. QuickCheck: Was the late Man from U.N.C.L.E. star David McCallum also responsible for one of hip-hop's most iconic samples?

The late David McCallum is bettern known as a generation-spanning actor who became a familiar face on TV, first in the 1960s playing Russian spy Illya Kuryakin in the Man from U.N.C.L.E. and then again in the 2000s as the eccentric Dr Donald "Ducky' Mallard on NCIS. In between his acting pursuits, McCallum also dabbled in music, and chatter on the Internet says he is responsible for one of hip-hop's most iconic samples. Is this true? VERDICT: TRUE According to Rolling Stone magazine, McCallum, who was also a classically trained musician, performed a track called The Edge, composed by David Axelrod, that was originally released in 1967 as part of McCallum's album Music: A Bit More of Me. The first few bars of the song are instantly recognisable for hip-hop fans as it was sampled as the opening riff on Dr Dre's seminal 2000 track The Next Episode, which also features OGs Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Nate Dogg. According to Rolling Stone, the sample had also been used in 198 by hip-hop trio Missin Linx for their song MIA. In fact, a check on the WhoSampled database, which lists samples and where they are used, McCallum's The Edge is sampled in 50 songs in total. McCallum died on Sept 23, 2023, at the age of 90. By the time "The Waterfront" opens, however, the prominent Buckley clan has fallen on hard times and turned to drug dealing on the open seas as a way to maintain their or not it gets a second season, Wilmington, Southport and to a lesser extent Wrightsville Beach get plenty of screen time in season one. There are multiple scene-setting drone shots of downtown Southport by day and by night, as well as drone shots of Fort Fisher, downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. In Southport, the exterior and deck of Fishy Fishy Cafe play the Buckley's waterfront restaurant in numerous scenes, with other sequences set at Potter's Seafood, the Southport waterfront, Yacht Basin Drive, Morningstar Marina and the Southport City Pier. (The Buckley restaurant interior is actually an elaborate set.) One deceased character is laid to rest during a funeral at the Southport Community Building, and the Havenport sheriff's office is the International Longshoremen's Local 1838 on 10th downtown Wilmington, the Chamber of Commerce just off the Riverwalk plays the exterior of the Havenport hospital, and two characters have dinner outside The Basics in the Cotton Exchange. The downtown post office plays the exterior of the Havenport courthouse, and William E. Poole Designs on Market Street is transformed into a hardware store, with Caprice restaurant and the Black Cat Shoppe seen in the background. The old City Hall portion of Thalian Hall is repurposed as a bank, and one scene on South Water Street has Grace driving a vehicle in a direction that, to locals, is "the wrong way." Season one's finale, however, does set up a potential season two. The show was created and co-written by Kevin Williamson, a native of New Bern who has said the show's story is loosely inspired by his late father, who spent time in prison. Williamson, who was also the showrunner of "The Waterfront," has a long history in Southeastern North Carolina.
