Illegal construction: Sambhal MP submits map; next hearing on June 12

Hindustan Times05-06-2025
Samajwadi Party MP from Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal Ziaur Rahman Barq through his counsel has submitted a formal construction map to the Sambhal SDM's court seeking its approval in an ongoing case pertaining to the alleged illegal construction at Barq's residence in Deepa Sarai locality in that district, officials said.
Confirming it, Sambhal SDM Vandana Mishra said, 'A map has been submitted for the new construction at the MP's residence. The next hearing is scheduled for June 12 during which further action will be determined.'
The map was submitted on Tuesday (June 3). The MP's counsel Mohammad Naeem also expressed willingness to pay the penalty levied for the 'unapproved' construction, they added. Barq has been accused of constructing a house without the approval for a building plan. He has been served several notices by the SDM.
The controversy began after Barq undertook fresh construction at his residence without obtaining the necessary permissions. The regulated area office had objected to the construction, declaring it illegal and subsequently issuing a formal notice to the MP on December 11, 2024.
The notice said the construction violated the Uttar Pradesh Regulation of Building Operations Act, 1958, as it was carried out without an approved map or official sanction.

The clip is from 2023, when the spiritual guru was walking on the expressway while returning from Agra. During this walk, he met Akhilesh Yadav, who was travelling on the same route. In the video, Akhilesh Yadav is seen questioning the use of the word 'Shudra' to which Aniruddha Maharaj gave a reply which did not impress Yadav. When the thinking of a king is like this, one can guess the direction of the state." He added that he did not make any objectionable statement during that meeting. According to him, Akhilesh raised the issue on his own while talking about the word 'Shudra'. Aniruddhacharya Maharaj also said the episode shows 'ill-will" towards the Sanatan saints. He further added that the use of such statements by a political leader reflects a narrow mindset. The video and the recent reply have triggered strong reactions from both sides. Supporters of Akhilesh Yadav and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj are sharing their views across various social media platforms. Some are calling the comment political, while others are calling it disrespectful to Hindu saints. Aniruddhacharya Maharaj is a well-known spiritual leader with a large number of followers across India. He is famous for delivering religious sermons and has a strong presence among the devotees. This incident has once again highlighted the ongoing tensions between religion and politics in the country. Cracks in newly openedGkp link e-way expose corruption: Akhilesh

1 2 Lucknow: The first spell of monsoon rains has exposed cracks in Rs 7000 crore Gorakhpur Link Expressway which speaks volumes of rampant corruption behind the Rs 7000 crore project, said Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday. The expressway was inaugurated by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on June 21. The former UP CM said the fact that a local resident Suresh Lodhi died after he fell into an open drain during waterlogging in Thakurganj area of Lucknow exposes the government's poor preparedness to handle monsoon woes in the state capital in particular and the state in general. "If this is the situation in the state capital, one can imagine the situation that must be prevailing in the rest of the state," Akhilesh said. Citing reports of how the approach road to a bridge in Chitrakoot caved in leaving the commuters in a lurch, Akhilesh said such instances were a routine and only highlight the corruption that has taken place in development projects across the state. "In development projects, norms have been overlooked and authorities have been paid hefty commissions to look the other way. This has resulted in the quality of development projects being compromised but the life of the common citizen to risk like the case in Thakurganj where one Suresh Lodhi died when he was swept into an open drain," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Akhilesh said bridges, link expressway and roads were not the only casualties of corruption, overhead community water tanks collapsing in different parts of the state in the past few months also narrate the extent to which corruption has seeped into the government projects. Making tall claims like zero tolerance towards corruption does not leave any impact on ground and such moves are nothing more than mere posturing, the former UP CM said. He said it was not only development projects where rampant corruption has been exposed. "Corruption in transfer postings has public knowledge and money changing hands in Invest UP related projects too has come to the fore." Akhilesh also highlighted the recent case in Kanpur where 11 constables have been accused of forcibly taking Rs 10,000 from a livestock trader after beating him mercilessly for ferrying livestock despite all valid documentation. Akhilesh said even more serious was the fact that people were being forced to live with the rampant corruption as those involved in such irregularities were being sheltered by the powers that be. "People are feeling hapless as they are compelled to live with this corruption," he said. HC adjourns hearing in Rampur Yatim Khana eviction case to July 28

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing in a matter of forcible eviction in 2016 from a Yatim Khana (orphanage) in Rampur and fixed July 28 as the next date for hearing. The order was passed by Justice Samir Jain on the petition filed by Mohammad Islam and another. Along with this petition, another petition filed by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan is also connected. In the matter, about 12 separate FIRs were lodged in which ex-MP Mohammad Azam Khan and several others were accused. Earlier, the high court in its order dated June 11 observed that the trial in the case would proceed, but no final order shall be passed. Later, the petition filed by Azam Khan, along with another petition, was also connected with the case of Mohd Islam. The case, originating from 12 FIRs registered between 2019 and 2020 at Kotwali Police Station in Rampur pertains to an alleged incident on Oct 15, 2016, involving the demolition of unauthorised structures on the Waqf property known as Yateem Khana (Waqf no-157). These FIRs, initially tried as separate cases, were consolidated into a single trial (Special Case No. 45 of 2020) by the Special Judge (MP/MLA) in Rampur on Aug 8, 2024. The accused, including prominent figures, face charges of dacoity, house trespass, and criminal conspiracy under the IPC. This petition challenges the trial court's May 30, 2025, order rejecting their requests to recall informants and key prosecution witnesses, including Zafar Ahmad Farooqui, chairman of the Sunni Central Waqf Board, and to produce exculpatory videographic evidence of the 2016 eviction. The applicants argue that this evidence, acknowledged by Farooqui, could exonerate them by proving their absence from the scene.
