Parker's Kitchen and Wounded Warrior Project announce campaign to support local injured veterans
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Parker's Kitchen has announced it will be partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to support local injured veterans in Georgia and South Carolina.
The new campaign will run from March 1 through July 6 at all Parker's Kitchen locations. Parkers will match 25% of every customer donation, a gesture aimed at supporting even more local veterans.
The latest Parker's Kitchen round-up campaign supports WWP's Warriors to Work® program, which helps warriors and their family members transition to the civilian workforce and find meaningful careers.
'We invite Parker's Kitchen customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar to benefit Wounded Warrior Project and to help local veterans and their families access the services they need, free of charge,' said Parker's Kitchen founder and CEO Greg Parker. 'We are committed to making a transformative impact and supporting heroes across our corporate footprint. We're incredibly honored to partner with Wounded Warrior Project to help local injured veterans and their families.'
Parker's Kitchen originally joined forces with WWP in 2024 to help provide life-changing services and programs to local post-9/11 injured veterans and their families, raising $300,000 through a round-up campaign and company match.
WWP programs, advocacy, and awareness efforts help warriors thrive, provide essential lifelines to families and caregivers and help prevent veteran suicides.
'We're thrilled to partner with Parker's Kitchen for the second year to offer ongoing support for veterans, families and caregivers,' said Brea Kratzert Todd, vice president of business development at WWP. 'We must never forget the cost of freedom. Wounded Warrior Project is there for warriors and their families throughout their lifetime. Amazing supporters like Parker's Kitchen and their customers make that possible.'

Natural Grocers Closing All 169 Stores for Memorial Day
A major grocery store chain with nearly 170 stores will be closing all of its locations for one day next week. When Memorial Day arrives on May 26, grocery store chain Natural Grocers will be closing its doors for 24 hours in remembrance of America's military heroes who both serve and have served. "Memorial Day is an American holiday on the last Monday of May. It honors fallen service members of the U.S. military," according to the Wounded Warrior Project. "...Americans began to recognize Memorial Day in 1868, and the country established it as a federal holiday in 1971. Originally known as 'Decoration Day,' the holiday started with communities coming together to decorate the graves of those who died during service. Founded in 1955, Natural Grocers "is an expanding specialty retailer of natural and organic groceries, body care products, and dietary supplements" as a "flexible smaller-store format allows it to offer affordable prices in a shopper-friendly, clean, and convenient retail environment," the company said on its website. The company was founded in Colorado, but currently has 169 stores across 21 states. The beloved grocery store chain announced on its website that, as a family-run organization, it will be closed for the majority of major holidays including Memorial Day. "We live and breathe family. At the end of the day, it's the people we love that make it all worthwhile. We also think it's the best thing about the holidays — they're a chance to spend time with loved ones," the statement said while listing Easter, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day as the six days its stores are closed. "We are committed to our employees, so you can be assured our good4u Crew receives holiday pay for the holidays on which we are closed. Additionally, to ensure that our good4u Crew get a chance to prepare for and get the most out of their holidays too we close early, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and on Labor Day. Please call your local store for closure times on those days."
