Puppy Playing in the Dark Discovers Shadow—Owner Can't Cope With Reaction

Internet viewers have found a new superstar in the form of a dog who has discovered his shadow.
TikTok user Lee, who posts under the username @lee_401, is the proud owner of two dogs: Gracie the "gentle giant"; and yellow Labrador retriever Max, who joined the family in 2024. Max is still very much in his puppy phase, and a video of the Labrador discovering his shadow has gone viral—because he was determined to make friends with it.
In a clip posted on July 28 and already boasting more than 1.4 million views, Max's owner stands outside, looking at where Max is playing in the yard. It is dark, and the porch lights are casting his shadow huge against the opposing wall. And Max thinks he has found a new friend, as he runs backwards and forwards, left and right, jumping toward all sides, as his shadow copies his every movement.
Max tilts his head, looking confused, but his tail continues wagging as he does the play bow, indicating he wants to be friends with the mystery dog. His owner captioned the sweet video: "Max made a new friend named 'Shadow'."
And TikTok users instantly fell in love, awarding the video close to 250,000 likes in a matter of days, as one commenter wrote: "Your black lab is just as fast as your other dog."
Another suggested the interaction would "make a great Pixar short," as a third posted: "I also thought there was another dog there, don't worry little guy."
That user wasn't the only one, as another said they "legit thought he was playing with a larger black dog," and a third agreed: "It took me a hot minute to realize there was only one dog."
Max chases his own shadow, trying to play with it.

Some commenters worried chasing shadows was not a good sign: while young dogs may do it for play, or out of curiosity and excitement, some canines can develop compulsive shadow-chasing in the form of Compulsive Canine Disorder, similar to OCD in humans, according to a vet-reviewed report by Dogster.
However, Max's owner assured one concerned commenter that Max is just "being a puppy."
"He has a sister he plays with all the time, he goes to doggy day care, and he goes and visits one of his littermates," Lee said.

2 German Shepherds Got Stuck and Accidentally Invented a New Dance Move
2 German Shepherds Got Stuck and Accidentally Invented a New Dance Move originally appeared on PetHelpful. In a TikTok now making everyone cry-laugh (for all the right reasons), two German Shepherds somehow manage to get themselves stuck together during a roughhousing session. Instead of calmly untangling, like the clever dogs they're supposed to be, they decide to do the only thing that seems logical in the moment: They spin. Full. Furry. Nonstop. Tornado. All set to RunDMC's "It's Tricky," for maximum comedic effect. Look at 'em go! Their speed and coordination is pretty remarkable At one point, you can kind of see the realization hit their eyes: 'This is our lives now. We spin forever.' Spinning and Zoomies Why do dogs spin and do zoomies? There are plenty of reasons. They might do this to release tension or pure excitement, as part of instinctive play, or just because they feel like it. Most of the time, it's perfectly normal. In some cases, excessive spinning can indicate a behavioral or medical issue. If it doesn't happen excessively and the dog is otherwise healthy, it's usually just part of their personality. When in doubt, a quick chat with your vet is always a safe bet. Moments like this are a funny reminder that even intelligent, energetic breeds like German Shepherds can get themselves into tricky situations during play. Monitoring collars and harnesses during rough play can prevent accidental tangles, and a little supervision goes a long this case, the dogs popped apart just fine. Follow-up clips show them back to their usual adventures, tails wagging and dignity mostly intact. Something tells me their 'spinning' career isn't over, and TikTok will be ready when it happens again. 2 German Shepherds Got Stuck and Accidentally Invented a New Dance Move first appeared on PetHelpful on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by PetHelpful on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

Golden Retriever's Impressive 'Prison Break' Caught on Camera and It's Too Funny
Golden Retriever's Impressive 'Prison Break' Caught on Camera and It's Too Funny originally appeared on Parade Pets. Puppies are usually crated for training purposes, to establish boundaries, and to give them a "safe" space to decompress. Yet they soon grow out of these crates and find them a bit confining, often prompting an escape plan. Rooster the Red Golden Retriever is somewhat of a mastermind. The sly pup orchestrated a complicated "prison break" that looks like it's straight from the movies. In the TikTok from @roostertheretriever, the determined dog's escape was captured on video. 'My dog decided to execute the ultimate prison break in the middle of the night,' the onscreen text read. Rooster stepped out of his crate and manueverd himself onto an end table. The crafty canine then wedged himself between the table and the end of the gate, creating an opening of escape. This took the skill and agility of an Olympic gymnast as his back paws gripped the poles of the gate and he lurched his upper body forward. At one point, Rooster got a bit stuck and appeared to panic. His body was on top of the gate but he couldn't go forward or backward. He just stayed on the end table, figuring out his next move. Sliding his back paws along the gate, he located the perfect crevice to squeeze through to freedom. Rooster Foiled His Parents' Plans The pup's parents anticipated the potential for a prison break and arranged the area in the hopes of preventing this scenario, but their plans were obviously thwarted. "Rooster has grown so much lately that he started easily hopping out of his playpen," the caption explained. "We raised the height of the gate, except for one corner where we keep his toys and blankets in a basket. We figured, 'There's no way he could jump into the corner of a wall'."Followers were impressed with Rooster's accomplishment and guessed at reasons why he broke out. "Why am I sitting here cheering for Rooster. You got it, just jump," one wrote. "Looks like he was second guessing it, but realized he'd gone too far to turn back!" another noted. "Aww he just wants snuggles, or to search and destroy all chewable objects," a fan pointed out. It looks like Rooster needs a much higher gate! 🐶🐾🐾 Golden Retriever's Impressive 'Prison Break' Caught on Camera and It's Too Funny first appeared on Parade Pets on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared. And Just Like That…: Here's What We Want to See for Each Character Before the Show Ends
Pour us another round of cosmos, because we're preparing ourselves to say goodbye to the ladies of And Just Like That. HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series is officially ending after three seasons — which means we only have two episodes left with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and the rest of the gang. (The series finale airs Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9/8c.) And there are plenty of loose plot threads still hanging out there, so showrunner Michael Patrick King and the writers will have to work hard to come up with a pair of final episodes that will wrap everything up in a nice, chic bow. More from TVLine Sarah Jessica Parker and Her Co-Stars Offer Emotional Tributes as And Just Like That Reveals End Date And Just Like That... Shocker: Sex and the City Revival to End With Season 3 at HBO Max And Just Like That: Carrie Gets Closer to Duncan - But Is It Too Close? So we here at TVLine thought we'd do some of the heavy lifting for them. (As longtime Sex and the City fans, we feel certain we're qualified.) Below, we've laid out exactly what we need to see from each major character on And Just Like That before the curtain falls for good — and that includes the return of a few familiar faces from the past. Read on to see our wish list for And Just Like That's farewell, and then hit the comments to tell us what you want to see in the final two episodes. Carrie She already said goodbye to Aidan, so we don't have to worry about her making that mistake again. And she does have solid chemistry with her fellow writer Duncan. We're most excited, though, about her new journey as a novelist. So we'd love it if Carrie's new book became a sensation and took her to London, where she could cozy up with Duncan — and also reunite with a certain someone… Samantha Hello, fabulous! The fact that Duncan lives in London gives And Just Like That the perfect excuse to bring back fellow London resident Samantha for a much-needed reunion. It just wasn't the same without Samantha Jones around, and a Kim Cattrall cameo in the finale (however brief) would help it feel like a proper send-off — not just to this show but to Sex and the City, too. Miranda We've been liking her low-key romance with Joy so far — a lot more than her volatile hook-up with Che, anyway — and we wouldn't mind seeing those two get a happy ending. But we still have a soft spot for Steve: It'd be nice to see him and Miranda mend fences and spend some time together with Brady as a family before And Just Like That signs off for good. (And no, yelling at Brady for getting a girl pregnant doesn't count.) Charlotte Yes, we're happy her husband Harry is cancer-free, and Charlotte seems content balancing her work at the art gallery with her life at home being a mom. But mostly, we want to see Charlotte step into the spotlight a little more in the final two episodes and push for her own happiness, rather than just being a dutiful housewife or a supportive shoulder for Carrie to cry on. This woman has feelings, too! We've known that since way back in the Sex and the City days, and we'd like to see a little of that old sparkle again. Seema Seema is the most compelling new character And Just Like That gave us, so it's a shame that we have to say goodbye to her so soon. But we're enjoying the unlikely romance she's having with landscaper Adam, and we'd love to see that love, um, bloom in the final two episodes. Plus, she needs to sign a big client and get her new firm on track. Lisa Michelle Obama needs to show up and make a cameo in the final two episodes, if only to justify all the talk about her being a part of Lisa's long-gestating documentary. And no, we don't need to see Lisa have a fling with her editor Marion. She's too dedicated to her family to do anything that impulsive. Anthony He already has his happily-ever-after all sewn up with that Italian stallion Giuseppe, so we just need mom Patti LuPone's approval to seal the deal. But it would be nice to see the show acknowledge his ex (and Carrie's bestie) Stanford, played by the late Willie Garson, one more time before it signs off. Nya Hey, remember her? After two seasons as Miranda's professor pal, Nya dropped off the radar completely in Season 3, so we'd love to see her at least pop in to say hi and get some closure in the final two episodes. Che And as for seeing Miranda's regrettable ex again? Nah, we're good. Let us know what you want to see in the final two episodes with a comment below!
