Trailfinders sign Gallagher from Leicester
The full-back has followed Meg Jones and Francesca McGhie to the London club.
Gallagher won her first international cap against New Zealand in 2023.

"I first became interested in joining Trailfinders after having played against them the past two seasons and liking their playing style and freedom on the pitch," Gallagher told the club website.
"What reassured my decision was hearing from my Canadian teammates how awesome the team culture is and the buy-in from the group. I'm looking forward to playing my part."

Americans finish strong with a relay record at swim worlds
SINGAPORE — The United States, which had a frustrating swim world championships, ended on a high note Sunday with a record in the women's 4x100 medley relay in the last event of the eight-day championships. The Americans swam a time of 3 minutes, 49.34 seconds, breaking their own old record mark of 3:49.63. The United States finished with nine gold medals and 29 overall, ahead of Australia with eight gold and 20 overall. France and Canada were next in the gold-medal count with four gold medals. The 18-year-old Canadian star Summer McIntosh won all four. The Americans battled a case of "acute gastroenteritis" picked up at a training camp in Thailand. The malady clearly affected the team's up-and-down performances in the eight days in Singapore. "This is the best way to end the meet," Gretchen Walsh said. "And I feel like we have such a good opportunity when you have this stacked group of women closing it out on a relay like this. "We're going to put it all in the pool and we're going to leave Singapore with a smile on our faces," she added. Regan Smith, Kate Douglass and Walsh swam the first three legs with Torri Huske taking the anchor. The Americans had only five gold medals through six days, but won four in the last two as team health seemed to improve. Sunday's closing day featured eight finals and victories for seven different teams. But there were two clear stars through the week. Leon Manchand of France left the worlds on Sunday with what he came for – two individual gold medals. Summer McIntosh came away with four individual golds – one shy of her quest to win five. Still, she is only the second woman at a world championships to win four individual golds. Her only blip was finishing third to American Katie Ledecky in the 800 freestyle on Saturday. And 12-year-old Chinese Yu Zidi, in an astounding performance, finished fourth in all three of her individual races. She, however, did pick up a bronze medal in a relay, where she swam in the prelims but not in the final.

Taylor Fritz beats Canadian Gabriel Diallo in Toronto in 3rd round of National Bank Open
TORONTO (AP) — Second-seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States beat 6-foot-8 Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-2 on Friday night in the third round of the National Bank Open. 'I thought the crowd was (very) nice for me playing the last player in the tournament from Canada,' Fritz said. 'I thought it was going to be a little bit more hostile. But I guess everyone is just so nice. I've dealt with a lot worse.' Fritz set up a fourth-round match in the hard-court event with 19th-seeded Jiri Lehecka of Czechia. Lehecka beat 15th-seeded Arthur Fils of France 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The 27-year-old Fritz is No. 4 in the world. He has 10 career ATP Tour titles, winning this year on grass at Eastbourne and Stuttgart. In the late match, fourth-seeded Ben Shelton outlasted fellow American Brandon Nakashima 6-7 (8), 6-2, 7-6 (5). Shelton will face 13th-seeded Flavio Cobolli of Italy. In the afternoon, sixth-seeded Andrey Rublev of Russia beat Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. 'In the second and third sets, I was able to play more aggressive, fewer mistakes,' Rublev said. 'Let's see what's happening next, I'm super excited and motivated.' Summer McIntosh caps historic swim worlds with fourth individual gold; U.S. wins most medals
Summer McIntosh capped arguably the best world championships for a female swimmer by winning her fourth individual gold medal. McIntosh, an 18-year-old Canadian, swam the third-fastest 400m individual medley in history — 4 minutes, 25.78 seconds, distancing the field by 7.48 seconds. McIntosh holds the four fastest times ever in the event, including the world record of 4:23.65. She became the second female swimmer to win four individual golds at a single worlds — also taking the 400m freestyle, 200m IM and 200m butterfly earlier in the meet. She tacked on an 800m free bronze Saturday. Katie Ledecky, who won Saturday's 800m free, is the only other female swimmer to claim four individual golds at a worlds (200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m frees in 2015). Swede Sarah Sjostrom is the only other female swimmer to earn five individual medals at one worlds (2019). SWIMMING WORLDS: Results Overall, the U.S. earned the most medals for a 17th consecutive worlds dating to 1991 — including at least one medal in 15 of the 18 individual women's events. The U.S. men claimed one individual gold medal (Luca Urlando, 200m butterfly), matching their fewest at a worlds (1994, 2015). A majority of the 47 total American swimmers were affected to varying degrees by acute gastroenteritis, or a stomach bug, leading into and during the meet. 'I think nobody really understands kind of what the group has been through unless you are on this trip,' national team managing director Greg Meehan said on Peacock. 'The challenges were incredible. When you have people losing 15 pounds, 20 pounds, that's a lot, and they have persevered.' Also Sunday, France's Leon Marchand became the first man to sweep the 200m and 400m IMs for a third worlds, taking the latter by 3.59 seconds in 4:04.73, the fifth-fastest time in history. Tunisia's Ahmed Jaouadi won the 1500m free to complete a sweep of the men's distance races. American Bobby Finke, the Olympic gold medalist and world record holder, earned bronze — making it five medals in his last five global championships in the event. Finke said before placing fourth in Wednesday's 800m free that his personal goals were derailed by the stomach bug. 'This meet's been quite a whirlwind,' he said after Sunday's race. 'I'm disappointed with my results, but that's on me. I've just got to do better next year. 'I'm happy to be on the podium. It's obviously not the place I want. My endurance was a little bit better after the 800m. I think it showed there (in the 1500m).' Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte won a fourth consecutive world title in the 50m breaststroke, 13 years after taking Olympic 100m breast gold at age 15. American Lilly King, who followed Meilutyte as Olympic 100m breast champ in 2016, finished fifth in Sunday's 50m breast in the last race of her career. In the 50m backstroke, Kliment Kolesnikov, a neutral athlete from Russia, won by tying his own second-fastest time in history (23.68). His world record is 23.55.
