Cadbury's ‘best' chocolate that's only sold for a few months each year is back

Metro03-06-2025
Cadbury isn't exactly short of chocolate bars, snacks and desserts to satisfy a sweet tooth, but there are a few products we wish they'd add to the permanent line-up.
One of the 'best' items the brand sells is hands down the Creme Egg, which is typically only available for the first few months of the year, launching after Christmas and disappearing after Easter.
Filled with a gooey white and yellow fondant centre, the chocolate egg comes in both milk and white chocolate versions and is an Spring staple. This year it hit supermarket shelves in January, but was axed from supermarkets in the UK at the end of April.
However, if you've been missing the sugary treat, there's good news as it's currently for sale in Costco and unsurprisingly, the wholesale retailer is selling the chocolate in bulk, so you'll definitely be able to get your fix (and then some).
Those with a Costco membership card can head down to their nearest Costco warehouse and grab a box of 48 Cadbury Creme Eggs.
The store is selling boxes of milk chocolate ones and boxes of the white chocolate ones for £19.99 each (£23.98 including VAT).
Many will likely be thrilled to get their hands on the product once again, as they've been hailed as 'the best', 'a classic', 'a childhood favourite' and 'delicious' by Cadbury fans on Reddit.
One person even loved them so much, they rated them a '700/10', which is particularly bold.
There are 29 Costco warehouses around the UK, with discounts on everything from toiletries and groceries to petrol and big-ticket tech.
You can't just walk in and start shopping though. Only certain professions can apply for in-store membership (priced from £33.60 per year).
Alongside business owners, qualifying roles include the likes of local government, banking, medicine, education, or the police.
But even if you don't fall into one of these categories, you may still be able to get in on the savings.
According to MSE, AA, RAC and National Trust Members are also eligible to join at certain locations – including Birmingham, Sheffield and Cardiff.
There is a catch with this kind of membership, though. You can only shop at the location you joined. Once you get the go-ahead, however, all you have to do is show the relevant info at the membership counter and shop 'til you drop.
If Creme Eggs aren't for you, don't worry as Cadbury also has a few new items launching that might be more up your street and these will be available more widely in supermarkets across the UK.
The brand recently announced they'd be launching colour-changing Dairy Milk chocolate bars this summer, as well as a brand new flavour.
A new Iced Latte Dairy Milk will be available in June, which combines smooth coffee cream, biscuit pieces and the classic taste of Cadbury chocolate. More Trending
But what's particularly interesting about this new product isn't the flavours – it's the packaging.
That's because the chocolate bar comes in a temperature-activated packet, which visually transforms when it is chilled.
Yes, that's right, in a somewhat unexpected move, Cadbury is actively encouraging people to put their chocolate bars in the fridge.
In addition to the iced coffee-inspired new chocolate bar, Cadbury will be adding the colour-changing wrappers to regular Dairy Milk chocolate, so there will be four-limited edition bars available as well. These are all part of a range they are calling 'Cadbury Dairy Milk Chilled'.

Cadbury is launching two 'incredible' new chocolate bars and shoppers can't wait

Cadbury has two new products coming to a shop near you soon. (Picture: Getty Images) Chocoholics assemble! Cadbury is putting two new spins on its beloved Bournville chocolate, and shoppers can't wait to get their hands on them. This week, the confectioner announced 'Simply Indulgent' Salted Caramel and Chopped Hazelnut varieties of its classic dark chocolate, which has remained a firm favourite since its inception over 100 years ago. Although some details are still under wraps, we do know they'll be available across a range of UK retailers priced at £2.20 a bar. And in welcome news for fans, they're set to be a permanent addition to the range. The move is a big comeback for Bournville, which last changed its line-up – relaunching Old Jamaica (rum and raisin) and introducing an Orange flavour – back in 2020. The new bars are the first addition to the Bournville range since 2020 (Picture: Sainsburys) And it's safe to say people are excited, with Laura Snell commenting on a Snack News and Reviews Facebook post: 'I neeeeeed these!'. 'That salted caramel one looks incredible,' wrote Emma Wilson, while Anna-Marie Dangerfield noted the hazelnut flavour seemed especially 'yummy.' When the Food Finds Official page shared the news, Kirsten Robson added: 'Ohhh sounds nice… I do like a Bournville.' They're set to be launched within the coming months (Picture: Sainsburys) The news comes after Cadbury dropped several new products this year, including Twirl White Dipped and Dairy Milk Biscoff bars. The Iced Latte Dairy Milk also marked a first for the company, featuring a temperature-activated packet that visually transforms when chilled. Nonetheless, it hasn't all been good news for Cadbury fans: the beloved Freddo, a long-time often-used yardstick for inflation, saw yet another price rise, and multipacks fell victim to the dreaded chocolate 'shrinkflation'. When is the new Bournville chocolate being released? Currently, we don't have a confirmed release date. However, speaking to The Sun, a spokesperson for Cadbury owners Mondelez International said the new products would be 'at retailers nationwide from late July', so it could be very soon. Where does the name Bournville come from? Bournville village was built to create a healthier lifestyle for Cadbury workers.(Picture: Getty Images) Bournville chocolate is one of Cadbury's oldest brands, with its roots dating back to the late 19th century, when the Cadbury brothers – George and Richard – sought to create a healthier and more wholesome lifestyle for their workers. They established the 'Bournville village' just outside of Birmingham, where the company's factory was located. The Bournville brand itself was then launched in 1908 and was, as you might have suspected, named after the village that served as its inspiration. RECOMMENDED READING: Mondelēz International revealed it is not always the company's decision as to when festive treats are released in supermarkets. It explained that retailers are free to choose when products appear on shelves, and "due to supply chain reasons, some products will be on shelves a little earlier". A Mondelēz International spokesperson said: "Most of our range will be available from August 2025, through to Christmas and as long as stocks last. "Due to supply chain reasons, some products will be on shelves a little earlier than that."

I'm trolled for having Christmas done in July with the food shop & gifts wrapped – but us single mums must be organised

Plus, scroll down for more on why supermarkets start selling Christmas stock so early FEELING FESTIVE I'm trolled for having Christmas done in July with the food shop & gifts wrapped – but us single mums must be organised Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DESPITE December 25th being five months away, a single mother has revealed that she has already bought and wrapped her children's gifts. Not only this, but Char Chandler has also done her food shopping and stocked up on drinks and snacks for the festive season. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A single mother has revealed that Christmas may be five months away, but that hasn't stopped her getting prepared Credit: / TikTok 2 Char Chandler has not only bought and wrapped gifts, but she's even done her food shopping too Credit: / TikTok But this mum-of-three, who 'loves Christmas' and can't get enough of shopping, has been trolled for being so prepared. Posting on social media, the brunette beauty proudly showed off her epic 'Christmas cupboard,' which despite it being only July, is already full with wrapped gifts and sweet treats. The short clip left many totally stunned, so much so that shortly after, Char uploaded a follow-up video in response to a rude remark from a troll. The comment read: 'F**k. Right. Off. It's. Only. F*****g. July' and to this, Char clapped back and said: 'I really don't get it, why can't you just be happy for someone, show it love, or scroll past? 'I'm happy, I'm organised and I don't have that Christmas rush and the hassle.' Char then urged people to 'be nice' and confirmed that "you never know what people are going through.' Not only has she purchased a variety of gifts for her little darlings, but she's also stocked up on Pringles, Mini Cheddars, Twiglets, nuts, tins of biscuits and a variety of crackers. As well as this, she's also purchased three bottles of fizzy drinks and dessert sauces, as well as popcorn, pretzels and marshmallows. Char later confirmed: 'My kids are 14, 13 and 6 - my eldest two know [the gifts] are there. It's just the youngest we hide them from and he doesn't know the cupboard exists.' Not only this, but Char confirmed that she likes to be organised and 'spread the cost.' I feel like a failure for only getting my 9-year-old cheap bits off TikTok for Christmas, but trolls slam my 'sob story' As well as having Christmas gifts to buy, she also has the cost of the summer holidays, her eldest son's birthday and two holidays coming up. So when asked 'why so early?', Char set the record straight and explained: 'Because I am a single parent and I want the best for my children so I spread the cost to make it the best I can.' I will stock up more as the months go on Char Chandler The bargain hunter later revealed that she got her wrapping paper from Amazon and acknowledged that she wraps each of her children's presents in different wrapping paper, rather than using gift tags. And for those wondering if Char's food shopping would go out of date before the special day, the savvy mum clarified that she checked the dates on her items and apart from a bottle of Coca-Cola, which goes out of date on 31st December 2025, everything else expires 2026 and onwards. Despite having a hefty stash already, the content creator later shared: 'I will stock up more as the months go on.' Why do shops start selling Christmas stock so early? Charlotte Harrington, the manager at Summerhill's garden centre in Basildon, Essex, explained: 'For many, many years now, we've opened our Christmas department on the August bank holiday. "The stock comes in early and we gradually start putting it out on the shop floor. This is just a small fraction of what we have. 'But our Christmas displays are so spectacular it takes time to get everything set up, so we have to start early. 'It may seem a little odd putting them out now — especially with the hot weather. 'But we have to plan so far in advance.' Social media users react The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 239,900 views. Not only this, but it's also amassed 10,800 likes, 2,298 comments and 900 shares. But social media users were left totally divided by Char's organisation - whilst some thought it was 'a great idea', others weren't as complimentary. One person said: 'Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! This is organisation at its finest.' By the time Christmas comes, they might not like it. That'll be my worry TikTok user Another added: 'That's why there's so many kids go without because parents don't do this! Why not buy all year so you know your children have the best Christmas!!' A third commented: 'That's actually a great idea. Don't have to spend a mint all at once and save money by getting stuff each week.' Meanwhile, someone else beamed: 'You are an amazing mum and very organised. I hope you have a magical Christmas 2025.' But at the same time, one user questioned: 'How do you know what to get them? By the time Christmas comes, they might not like it. That'll be my worry.' And another wrote: 'I would just forget what I had brought.'
