Fact check: Social media channel of migrant's journey posts AI-generated videos

The videos on the channel appear to be AI-generated.
The facts
On four days between June 9 and June 13, the channel 'migrantvlog' uploaded 22 videos to the social media platform.
At the time of writing, the most-watched video had around 374,000 views on the platform. In total, five of the videos had more than 100,000 views. The channel had 1,647 followers and more than 11,000 likes.
Comments on the videos show some viewers realised that the videos are AI-generated. However, others seemed to be reacting as if they are real.
What evidence is there that the videos are AI?
There is clear evidence of AI generation in many of the videos. Most tellingly, several of the videos have watermarks for Veo – an AI video generation tool.
One video posted with the caption '5 star meorot we going' includes a section at around seven seconds where a man on the right of the frame seems to momentarily lose his arm. This video is one of several with a Veo watermark. The watermark appears in the bottom-right corner, where it might be obscured from some viewers by TikTok's display icons.
Between that video and another posted later the same day, the main protagonist's voice seems to change. The second video includes scrambled text on the front of a building, a hallmark sign of AI. At around five seconds, a man appears to pull a large camera out of his crotch, while at seven seconds a person sat in a chair appears to become translucent.
Another video shows a protest with men waving flags. The man behind the right shoulder of the person filming moves his arm in an unnatural way and the flag in his hand seems to appear and disappear.
A video shows a man running with a group while holding a burning Union flag. The flag is on fire, however the material does not appear to be blackening, and the way the men behind the protagonist interact seems almost ghost-like as they move through each other in unnatural ways.
In a video in which the man says 'thank you British taxpayers for feeding us this good food', a fork can be seen appearing seemingly out of thin air in the background while a man appears to pass a plate through his own hand.

ITV2 matchmaking show star personality Chris, 32, recently flew out to reunite with Dance Moms star JoJo, 22, in LA, spending time with her family and strengthening their bond. And now the matchmaking show star has confirmed they've talked about huge next steps in their partnership - including marriage and kids. In a chat with US Weekly aired on TikTok, Chris admitted the life milestones had been front and centre of their chats. He said: " We [he and JoJo] genuinely speak to each other about this, I would be lying if I said we didn't. "When you're besotted with each other and in love with someone I think it's fun to look forward to those things. Chris continued: "Of course I want to get married to her, I would never shy away from that. "And one day I want to have children." "We both come from extremely loving families and very wholesome families who care for you so it would be nice to reciprocate that going forward "One day I'd love to have children, it would be an absolute dream for sure." Chris Hughes can't keep his hands off girlfriend JoJo Siwa after revealing they're 'totally in love' SPEAKING OUT Chris hasn't shied away from opening up on their strong bond. This week, he admitted to a cheeky sex secret when the lights go out, and said of Boomerang singer JoJo: "She calls my balls Jimmy and Timmy. "So she must like Jimmy and Timmy." JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs' relationship We look back at JoJo Siwa's romance with Kath Ebbs: JoJo Siwa went public with hers and Kath Ebbs' relationship in January 2025. The Dance Moms star had been introduced to 27-year-old Australian content creator Kath by a mutual friend called G-Flip six months earlier. JoJo had split with her girlfriend Dakayla Wilson in November 2024 and it is believed she hooked up romantically with Kath soon after. Speaking in March at the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, JoJo said of her relationship: 'I am so happy. I am in a very mature relationship, and it's beautiful. It's taught me so much about life. 'It's taught me so much about love and respect, and it's a beautiful thing. 'It's different in more ways than I can count. I wouldn't even know what to say the biggest is 'cause just everything is so different and special.' Kath even claimed they had talked about marriage together. However, JoJo's romance with Kath abruptly hit the skids on April 25, 2025, at the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party. JoJo dumped Kath at the bash after spending 19 days in the CBB house - where she had grown close to Love Island star Chris Hughes. ITV Racing pundit Chris added how the US star loved "the rhyming lingo." He said to E! News: "She's literally the love of my life, but she's also my best friend. "We sit and do nothing together." LOVED UP The now-couple became extremely close while they co-starred on ITV reality show CBB. They spent a large chunk of time in the house cuddling and snuggling, despite JoJo's then-relationship with Kath Ebbs. Just hours after finishing in third place on the ITV series, JoJo dumped Kath at the after-party. Recently, horse racing correspondent Chris was open and honest about how "totally in love" he is with JoJo. "I am really in love with this one," he told the Daily Mail. "She is my princess, she is a good one." It came after he opened up to the Sun's Fabulous Magazine about the backlash he has faced after he went official with their relationship. He told us: "I've had more people call me 'gay' in the last two months of my life than ever before. "But it doesn't bother me – as long as people aren't nasty, opinions are fine." He added: "Meeting Joelle gave me this magical feeling. "She is the most precious person….I'm obsessed with her. "I'd do anything for her." 6 The ITV2 star said of his girlfriend 'of course I want to get married to her, I would never shy away from that' Credit: itsjojosiwa/Instagram 6 He was open in speaking about his desire to become a dad Credit: Instagram/Chris Hughes

'Harry Potter made me think these things were magic - they're just British'

People have been left in stitches after American readers revealed what confused them in the Harry Potter books Americans have revealed what confused them about the Harry Potter books, and it turns out lots of readers mistook British references for magical inventions. The "hilarious" mistakes were highlighted in a video shared by TikTok user @kelley_morgan. ‌ Kelley Morgan told followers: "Here's some things that I used to think were magic but it turns out they're just British. It's pretty common for like a ten or an eleven-year-old American, like, first time they're learning about British culture, is through the Harry Potter books, so a lot of times they'll think certain things that are normal for British people are like magical and like Harry Potter." ‌ She explained: "The first one is true for me, but also the one that people joke about the most, and it's the one where they're punting students. There's a part in Harry Potter where there's a swamp in the hallways, and then the janitor has to punt students across to get to their classes. ‌ "In American English a punt is like a drop kick and because the world is like magical anyway we think oh he's kicking students really hard across the swamp, but it turns out in British English punting is like a boat with a stick, like a marsh boat. So it turns out he was just boating them across, he was not kicking them." Kelley was also confused by British schools. "Another one is school houses. We don't have those at all, and I know not everywhere in England has them but apparently a lot of schools do have different school houses and you actually get sorted into the houses and then you earn points for your house. It's kind of weird to me. It sounds fun, but we don't do that like at all." ‌ She added: "Along the same lines, prefects, which are like the authority figures within the houses is apparently a real thing. We don't have that at all. I think the closest thing that we might have is a hall monitor, but nobody really likes the hall monitor kids. Also, hall monitor is not a common thing. I don't think we ever had home monitors in my school, but it's just something you see on TV. Next, the American content creator revealed she was confused to read about Christmas crackers. "They always talk about having Christmas crackers and to us a cracker is a snack. I don't even know what you call it like a cracker, like a chip, not your kind of chip. Then I just assumed fun presents and confetti and stuff fell out of the cracker because they have candy with toys in them in the book. "So I'm like oh it must fall out of the cracker, but apparently it's a really common thing like in a lot of European countries where you pull both ends of a thing and it pops." ‌ Finally, she turned her attention to pudding. "I thought they just really liked pudding cause they always say like oh I'm gonna go eat some pudding, like I can't wait for pudding. They always have pudding after dinner cause over there pudding just means dessert and over here it's a very specific dessert." The video received over 400,000 views and lots of comments from American readers who had a similar experience. Someone commented: "What's most hilarious about the punting is not that it was a different word, but that we all collectively accepted that Filch drop kicked kids across a pond. No questions asked." A different response read: "I legitimately love pudding and was a little bit disappointed when I found out that it just means any dessert. I thought they were always having my favourite dessert!" Another comment said: "I had the reverse issue — thinking things that were unique to Harry Potter were actually just normal British things. I thought for way too long that all British kids wrote with quills."

Duke of Benidorm spending £300 a month on bills reveals one reason he would move back to UK

Louis Grier, who has won the name 'the Duke of Benidorm' for his love of the city and regular videos explaining how life works there, has shared the one thing that would make him move back home A Brit dubbed the 'Duke of Benidorm ' spending just £300 a month on bills has revealed the one reason he'd move back to the UK. ‌ Louis Grier often hits the headlines with his tips, tricks and advice for anyone visiting the sunny destination. He moved to the party city without a penny to his name – now, though, he's become a local celebrity. ‌ And while the 32-year-old has vowed he will not leave the Spanish holiday spot, there's one thing that would make him come back to ol' Blighty for good. 'Proper British home cooking is what I miss the most,' the content creator, from Kirkby. ‌ 'I miss my grandmother's homemade scouse (stew), roast dinners and pea soup. The smell of a proper Gregg's sausage roll is enough to make me want to fly home. I also miss people's good manners, as British tourists can be less polite and respectful than they are at home. Do you live in Benidorm? Do you have a story to tell? Email webtravel@ ‌ 'I miss how seriously life is taken in the UK. It feels like one long holiday here, which isn't always good for you. Of course, I miss my family a lot. If home wasn't so easy to reach, I'd definitely have to reconsider living in Benidorm; mostly for the food.' Louis, who left home at 16, says that while Benidorm is a 'cheerful and happy' place, it has changed a lot since he moved. He said: 'It's generally a safe holiday destination. 'However, I've observed a concerning increase in muggings and pickpocketing targeting intoxicated British tourists. Its popularity has led to overcrowding during the summer months, too. It can be quite problematic, as the beach bars, strip and main streets are sometimes too hectic to move. And I find the 'Brits abroad' stereotype from locals quite annoying. ‌ 'It's not just party culture that we're here for – and the television show, Benidorm, cemented an image which isn't true at all.' Louis spends just £300 per month on bills, including groceries, compared to £700, excluding rent, when living in the UK. He eats out regularly, with three-course dinners available for less than a tenner. But sadly for him and the many locals and workers there, due to the rise in Brits uprooting their lives to move there, it's starting to become quite expensive. Louis said: 'The costs are escalating for housing, both purchase and rentals, which has made it quite a challenge for locals and expats. 'It's reaching sky high amounts to rent an apartment here and estate agents are becoming quite greedy. [I fear] I'll have nowhere to live soon. Benidorm is out-pricing locals at a fast rate and it's quite ridiculous. 'Food and drink is also getting more expensive, but Benidorm is still one of the cheapest destinations in Europe.' Despite Louis' worries about how Benidorm is straying farther away from the place he moved to, he still feels grateful to call it home. He has interviewed celebrities, such as Anton Du Beke and Paul Chuckle, while advertising local businesses.
