EAM Jaishankar speaks to Qatar PM Al Thani, discusses bilateral agenda
New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar spoke to the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Thursday and discussed the bilateral agenda between the two nations.
EAM Jaishankar, in a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Al Thani, appreciated his assessment of the regional situation.
EAM wrote on X, 'A warm call with PM & FM @MBA_AlThani_ of Qatar. Appreciated his assessment of the regional situation. Discussed our bilateral agenda.'

Qatar's Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, played a key role in securing Iran's approval for the US-proposed ceasefire in the conflict with Israel, with Al Thani obtaining Tehran's agreement during a phone call with Iranian officials, as reported by Reuters, quoting an official briefed on the negotiation.
Al Thani's conversation followed Trump's communication with Qatar's Emir, in which the US President informed him that Israel had accepted the ceasefire proposal and requested Doha's assistance in convincing Tehran to agree to the deal, as reported by Reuters.
However, moments after the announcement, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out a limited strike on an Iranian radar installation north of Tehran, following which Iran launched two ballistic missiles at Israel, as reported by The Times of Israel.
Trump expressed his strong disapproval of Israel and Iran 'violating the ceasefire', he announced, and said that the two countries have been fighting 'so long and so hard that they don't know what the f*** they're doing.'
Shortly after, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office in a statement noted that after a conversation between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel has 'refrained' from further attacks on Iran.
The conflict between Iran and Israel began on June 13 when Israel launched a large-scale airstrike targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities under 'Operation Rising Lion'. Iran responded by launching 'Operation True Promise 3', a campaign involving missile and drone attacks against Israel's infrastructure. (ANI)

Gen Abdolrahim Mousavi Iran's top military commander has expressed serious doubts over Israel's commitment to the ceasefire that ended the exchange of fire between the two nations. Speaking to Saudi Arabia's defence minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on Sunday, Iran's chief of staff of armed forces, Abdolrahim Mousavi warned that Tehran is prepared to retaliate if hostilities resume. Although Iran did not start the war, Mousavi said, the country 'responded to the aggressor with all our power.' 'We have serious doubts over the enemy's compliance with its commitments including the ceasefire, we are ready to respond with force' he said, reported by state TV, quoted by AFP. The comments came six days after a ceasefire was announced by US President Donald Trump, ending nearly two weeks of intense fighting that began with an Israeli airstrike on June 13 targeting Iran's nuclear programme. In the days that followed, Israel claimed it had eliminated around 30 senior Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists, and targeted eight nuclear-related facilities along with over 720 military infrastructure sites. The conflict left more than 1,000 dead, including at least 417 civilians, according to a US-based Human Rights Activists group. Iran retaliated forcefully, launching more than 550 ballistic missiles towards Israel. While the majority were intercepted, the strikes caused widespread damage and killed 28 people. Over the weekend, Iran held state funerals for around 60 individuals, including senior military officials and nuclear scientists, who were killed in the conflict.

Iran voices doubts about durability of ceasefire with Israel, report says
Iran is highly doubtful that Israel will maintain the ceasefire that ended an air war between the two countries, the Iranian armed forces' Chief of Staff told Saudi Arabia's Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on Sunday (June 29, 2025), according to Iranian semi-official Tasnim news agency. Wave of Russian strikes wounds 7 in Ukraine
File Image KYIV: Fresh Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian regions in the night of Saturday to Sunday wounded at least seven people, according to the war-torn country's authorities, calling on Western allies for increased military support. Since launching its invasion in February 2022 Russia has launched near-nightly bombardments of its neighbour's towns and cities, raining down drones and missiles on military and civilian targets alike. Talks on ending the fighting between the two sides are at an impasse, with Kyiv accusing Moscow, which occupies nearly one-fifth of Ukraine's territory, of wanting the war to drag on. In the night the Russian army launched 477 drones and 60 missiles of various types, according to the Ukrainian air force, which said it had intercepted 475 and 39 of those respectively. The strikes led to "six impacts", the air force said, without giving further details. Pointing to the bombardment, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky argued it showed that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin "has long decided to pursue this war, despite the international community's calls for peace". "Ukraine must reinforce its aerial defence, which is the best way to protect lives," he added, repeating his willingness to buy US-made Patriot anti-missile systems. US President Donald Trump, who has tilted Washington's policy on the war in favour of Moscow since retaking office, has not responded to Kyiv's request. However Russia's spy chief Sergey Naryshkin said Sunday he had a call with his US counterpart John Ratcliffe.
