Blue Jays Top Destination For Rebounding Rangers Starting Pitcher

The Texas Rangers have taken quite the fall from their 2023 World Series championship run, and despite being 2 1/2 games out of a wild card spot, the team has not looked the same over the past two seasons.
This regression has them leaning towards sellers at the deadline, and according to Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan of ESPN, ranked Rangers starter Tyler Mahle as the No. 24 trade candidate leading up to the deadline.

Photo byMahle underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023 and returned for three games last season but has been outstanding this season, posting a 2.34 ERA in 14 starts for the Rangers.
Mahle went on the injured list on June 15th with right shoulder fatigue, and there is no timeline to return as of now, but if Mahle returns before the deadline and continues to impress, depending on the Rangers' fortune without him, he could be suiting up elsewhere in August.
Passan and McDaniel gave Mahle a 30% chance of being traded, but if he is, the Toronto Blue Jays were on the list of top destinations for the starting pitcher.
Toronto's starters have been among the worst in baseball, with the group ranking No. 26 in ERA in Major League Baseball. One constant of October contenders is pitching, and if the Blue Jays are serious about contending this season, they have to address the issue at the trade deadline.
If the Rangers struggle over the next couple of weeks, they could decide to move off of Mahle's expiring contract and prepare to return to October next season.

Blockbuster Deal Brewing? Why Latest Tigers Trade Buzz Makes No Sense
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Athletics closer Mason Miller has shockingly been linked to a few trade rumors over the last few days. FanSided's Quinn Everts recently suggested the powerhouse Detroit Tigers could be a potential landing spot in a trade for the superstar righty in the coming weeks. "The Tigers are in their World Series window. There aren't any holes, really, on the offensive side for this team, and we know the starting staff is elite at the very top with Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize," Everts wrote. "But a somewhat unreliable bullpen could be the downfall of this team in October, so why not add the most dynamic bullpen arm available at the deadline? Detroit is likely going to add an arm or two in the coming weeks, and I see no reason not to go all, all in. "The price for Miller will be steep, but the Tigers haven't made the ALCS in over a decade and have a real chance to do that (and more) in 2025. Make a statement to the team that you want to win it all by pulling off a stunner at the deadline." More Justine Willard/Athletics/Getty Images The Tigers have one of the best farm systems in baseball. If anybody in the league has the prospects to put a fair offer on the table for Miller, it's Detroit. Adding the star to the backend of the bullpen would be massive for the Tigers, too. It could elevate them to the top of the league as World Series favorites. While it would make sense for the Tigers to pursue Miller, this idea doesn't seem likely at all for one reason: The Athletics reportedly aren't listening to trade offers for Miller, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today. If that's the case, there's no point in discussing a Miller trade anymore, even if the Tigers have the prospect capital to make a fair offer. 🚨 BREAKING: Rangers learn potential opponents for UCL qualifying round
Rangers will face either FC Viktoria Plzeň of the Czech Republic or Swiss side Servette FC in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, should they overcome Panathinaikos in their second round tie. UEFA confirmed the draw on Monday, mapping out the next step on the Gers road back to the Champions League group stages. The third qualifying round represents the penultimate hurdle, with the play-off round to follow for successful sides. The first leg of Rangers' tie against Panathinaikos is set to take place at Ibrox this week, with the return in Athens the following week. Both Viktoria Plzeň and Servette have recent European pedigree, with Plzeň having competed in the group stages of the Champions League as recently as 2022. Servette, runners-up in the Swiss Super League, will also pose a significant challenge should Rangers meet them. The third qualifying round ties are scheduled for 6–7 and 13 August. Should Rangers reach that stage, they would have home advantage in the second leg, depending on UEFA scheduling. Rangers last reached the Champions League group stage in the 2022–23 season and will be determined to return to Europe's top table. Supporters will now be keeping a close eye on both ties, with the route to the play-off round now in sharper focus. 📸 Stu Forster - 2022 Getty Images

Old Firm clubs interested in Serbia youth Bacanin
Celtic and Rangers are among the clubs who have "called" to express their interest in Serbia youth midfielder Andrej Bacanin, says Cukaricki sporting director Vladimir Matijasevic. The Serbian SuperLiga club "expect the transfer to be completed in the next 10 days". Bacanin, 18, and 19-year-old centre-half Vojin Serafimovic were left out of the squad as Cukaricki started their league season with a 1-0 win over Napredak, with "both close to being transferred". Matijasevic told his club website: "There is a lot of interest in our young players and the current focus is on the transfer of Andrej Bacanin. "We had calls from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, Ajax, Udinese and some other teams are interested. It is possible that other options will emerge and I expect the transfer to be completed in the next 10 days." Belgrade-based Cukaricki finished ninth of 16 teams in the Serbian top flight last season. Defensive midfielder Bacanin made 11 starts and eight substitute appearances for his club as well as 10 for his country's under-19 side. "I expect this to be another big exit transfer for Cukaricki, which would cover our club's budget," Matijasevic added.
