When Shah Rukh Khan Said He Deserved National Award For Swades Over THIS Actor
The 71st National Film Awards were announced last night, and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his remarkable performance in Atlee's Jawan. This marks his first-ever National Award in an acting career spanning 33 years, making it a significant milestone. Many believe Shah Rukh Khan's best chance at a National Award was in 2005 (during 52nd National Film Awards) for his role in Swades. However, that year, Saif Ali Khan won the award for Hum Tum. A throwback video that has now gone viral on social media shows that even Shah Rukh thought he deserved the award more than Saif.
The throwback video is from a Tag Heuer event in the late 2000s. It shows Shah Rukh on stage with director Kunal Kohli and anchor Mandira Bedi. When Kunal asked Shah Rukh about his favourite films, Shah Rukh responded by saying he has a good heart and likes all films, heroes, and heroines. Shah Rukh praised Kunal's work, mentioning that Fanaa was very good and Hum Tum was nice. He added that Saif Ali Khan won the National Award for Hum Tum, but he felt he should have received it instead. Shah Rukh then laughed, and even Kunal Kohli smiled sheepishly at the remark.
'Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story," said Shah Rukh Khan. Check out the throwback video below!
Meanwhile, fans are happy and celebrating Shah Rukh Khan's achievement; however, many are confused that the actor won for Jawan when films like Swades, Chak De India, and My Name Is Khan were snubbed.
After his National Award win for Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan shared a video on social media, expressing his gratitude for the honour. 'I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride, and humility. To be honoured with a National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman, and to the I&B ministry, and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour," he said.
'I want to thank all my directors and writers, especially for the year 2023. So, thank you, Raju sir, thank you, Sid, and especially, thanks to Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in Jawan and trusting me to deliver," he said. He also expressed gratitude to his wife Gauri, and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.

Saiyaara OTT release set for Netflix; Diwali debut on the cards
After a record-breaking run at the box office, the romantic drama Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is now gearing up for its digital premiere on Netflix. According to a report by News18, the film — already crowned the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema — is expected to arrive on OTT around Diwali. While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, sources suggest that Netflix and the film's producers are eyeing the festive season for its streaming debut. Originally planned to drop a few months after its theatrical release, the film's overwhelming success — grossing ₹ 478 crore globally in just over two weeks — has led to an extended cinema run. The final OTT release date will reportedly depend on how long the film continues to perform well in theatres. If everything goes as planned, Saiyaara could brighten up viewers' screens during Diwali celebrations. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara tells the story of Krish Kapoor, a troubled musician, and Vaani Batra, a reserved poet. The film explores themes of love, heartbreak, and emotional healing. ETimes rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, praising Ahaan Panday's debut performance. 'He effortlessly blends raw swagger with vulnerability,' the review noted, especially in a powerful final scene where he echoes the intensity of cricketer Virat Kohli. Aneet Padda also received positive reviews for her expressive performance, particularly in a standout scene set in a recording studio, where she reflects on the lasting impact of emotions in music as compared to fleeting trends. With steady theatre attendance and positive word-of-mouth, Saiyaara is expected to continue its strong box office run in the coming weeks. Adding to the excitement, a viral video shows Ranbir Kapoor asking paparazzi, 'Saiyaara dekhi kya?' — sending fans into a frenzy on social media. All eyes are now on Netflix's Diwali line-up, with Saiyaara poised to be one of the season's biggest streaming events.

The 71st National Film Awards recently created a buzz on social media, as actors like Shah Rukh Khan (Best Actor for Jawan), Rani Mukerji (Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway) and Vikrant Massey (Best Actor for 12th Fail), among others were honoured for their performances. Rupali Ganguly demands National Awards for television industry. Rupali Gnguly demands National Awards for television industry In a conversation with paparazzi account Viral Bhayani, Ganguly said, "There are National Awards for everyone from film stars to content creators. But there's nothing for TV artistes. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, others had the advantage of delaying their shooting schedules, but we kept working. When a film star works continuously, it makes headlines. But no one talked about how we, the TV artists, worked non-stop from 6 am to 6 pm during the pandemic. I request the government to consider us also. We work very hard; it'll be nice to have some validation." Rupali Ganguly on Smriti Irani's comeback Rupali further hoped that Smriti Irani's comeback might take the TV industry towards that direction and added, "Smriti Irani returned to TV with the new version of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and it's airing on the same channel as my show. I am very proud that Smriti ji returned to TV, it's such a big validation. Her comeback will make a lot of difference, and it will bring all the eyes back to television. Smriti Irani, who originally rose to fame with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has returned to the screen with a reboot of the iconic Ektaa Kapoor show. Farah Khan Warns Cook Dilip Not To Tell Husband About Her Flirting With Boman Irani
Last Updated: Farah Khan jokingly warns cook Dilip not to tell her husband she flirts with Boman Irani, says she considered casting couch for Main Hoon Na. Farah Khan's latest vlog is a riot of laughter, nostalgic anecdotes and trademark wit as she visits longtime friend and actor Boman Irani's home, accompanied by her ever-entertaining cook, Dilip. Known for their infectious chemistry and effortless humour, Farah and Boman light up the screen with their banter—and this time, even Boman's wife Zenobia joins in on the fun. Before stepping into the Irani household, Farah cheekily warns Dilip, 'Don't tell Shirish if I flirt with Boman." Confused, Dilip innocently asks, 'What is flirting?" Farah, with a mischievous grin, explains, 'Flirting means nain mataka, or if I hug Boman sir, or sit next to him." The laughs don't stop there. Recalling the casting of her 2004 film Main Hoon Na, Farah takes a playful dig, saying, 'The only time I wanted to do a casting couch for my movie was with Boman. But he got the role just like that, didn't even sit on the couch!" The room bursts into laughter. Dilip, clearly puzzled, is then asked if he knows what 'casting couch" means. When he says no, Farah shoos him away with a giggle: 'You please go to the kitchen now." Even Zenobia takes it in stride. When Boman asks how she puts up with such jokes, Farah interjects, 'Because she knows nobody believes we're having an affair." The vlog also reveals a charming throwback: Farah once dressed up for what she thought was Boman's birthday party, only to realise she had arrived a day early. The friends shared a hearty laugh reminiscing about the mix-up. As the group makes their way to the kitchen, Irani tries to excuse himself: 'This means it is my time to get out of the kitchen." But Farah protests, 'No sir, you need to be here. Chutney kaun lagayega apne haatho se?" prompting Irani to call Dilip for help. In a final moment of comic warning, Farah tells Dilip, 'Dare you tell anything to Shirish. I will have your salary reduced," to which Dilip responds with a sheepish smile.
