Wisconsin legend included in ESPN's list of top edge rushers entering 2025 NFL season
Watt, who became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history on July 17, landed at No. 2 on the list behind Cleveland Browns superstar and future Hall of Fame inductee Myles Garrett. Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Micah Parsons (No. 3), Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby (No. 4), San Francisco 49ers stronghold Nick Bosa (No. 5), Cincinnati Bengals sack machine Trey Hendrickson (No. 6), Detroit Lions rising star Aidan Hutchinson (No. 7), Houston Texans edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. (No. 8) and Danielle Hunter (No. 9) and Los Angeles Ram Jared Verse (No. 10) rounded out the list.
As one of the most dominant defensive players in Pittsburgh Steelers history, Watt's position on the ranking is close to irrefutable. As a 30-year-old in 2024, the former Badger tallied 61 tackles, 11 1/2 sacks, 27 quarterback hits, a league-best six forced fumbles and four pass deflections in 17 games for Mike Tomlin's squad.
With eight full seasons on his professional resume, Watt has led the league in sacks three times (2020, 2021, 2023), been named to four First-Team All-Pro squads (2019-21, 2023) and reeled in one Defensive Player of the Year Award (2021). Since he entered the NFL, the Pewaukee, Wisconsin, native has accumulated 108 career sacks, 126 tackles for loss, 33 forced fumbles and 225 quarterback hits.
Here's what ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, backed by a survey of dozens of NFL league executives, coaches and scouts, had to say about Watt's place in the hierarchy:
"Watt is a worthy rival to Garrett in the AFC North. His 108 career sacks rank third all-time for a player's first eight seasons, behind Reggie White (124) and DeMarcus Ware (111). He's a near-lock for an All-Pro team every year. And he leads the NFL in forced fumbles (10) over the past two seasons, along with being second in sacks (30.5) and quarterback hits (63)... 'He's still the gold standard for me," a veteran AFC defensive coach said. "He completely wrecks a game and he can do everything.'"
At No. 31 on the NFL's official sack list, Watt could climb to as high as No. 20 next season. That journey begins with a showdown against the New York Jets on Sunday, Sept. 7, at MetLife Stadium.

Chelsea Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Manchester United Winger: Good Option For Maresca?
In a recent report, ESPN's James Olley claimed that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. It has been revealed that the Blues are monitoring the situation of the Argentine attacker as they look to recruit him this summer. Garnacho's Impressive Form In English Football Garnacho had a decent campaign at Old Trafford recently but struggled to find consistency at times for Man United in the final third. The 21-year-old found the back of the net 11 times and earned ten assists in 58 matches for the Red Devils last season in multiple competitions. The Argentine talent was a real menace in the opponent's half as he averaged 3.44 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 34.5% of his attempts on target. Garnacho was tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the final third after completing 78.9% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via Garnacho's current contract at the Mancunian club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it won't be easy for Chelsea to get a deal done for him this off-season. BILBAO, SPAIN – MAY 21: Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United walks past the UEFA Europa League trophy after his team's defeat in the UEFA Europa League Final 2025 between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at Estadio de San Mames on May 21, 2025 in Bilbao, Spain. (Photo by) Is Garnacho A Good Option For Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca? Garnacho is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with it in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play some killer passes in the opponent's half. The Argentina international is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also perform as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if required. He is already quite familiar with Premier League football and won't take any time to adjust to life at Chelsea. Garnacho would add more pace and goals to Enzo Maresca's frontline. He is good enough to serve as a useful rotational piece in the West London club's match-day squad. At 21, Garnacho has the potential to be a future star in the Premier League. Therefore, it makes sense for the Blues to get him on board this summer. He has what it takes to help Chelsea compete across all fronts over the next decade which makes him a decent option for the London giants to consider this off-season.

DK Metcalf shares bizarre rule Aaron Rodgers imposed for Steelers training camp: 'Toilet is super loud'
Aaron Rodgers is apparently a big fan of uninterrupted sleep, and that has prompted an odd rule for his roommate, DK Metcalf. The two are sharing a dorm separated by a shared bathroom at Saint Vincent College for Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, which began earlier this week. And while the pairing is a way for the two to build a connection off the field, it comes with stipulations. "The toilet is super loud," Metcalf told Yahoo Sports Thursday. "So [Rodgers] was like, 'Yeah, at night, if we got to p---, just don't flush the toilet.' I was like, 'All right, bet.'" Metcalf told the outlet that, on Wednesday night, he sent Rodgers a text saying, "You asleep yet?" after feeling the urge. Rodgers responded that he was still awake. So, Metcalf flushed away. "All right, bet," he recalled of his text, "I'm about to flush the toilet." Despite the bathroom rules, Rodgers appears to be enjoying dorm life. "I'm on the first floor here, which is a good start," he said, speaking to reporters after practice Thursday. "I got DK as my suitemate, so we're sharing a toilet and a shower. But I love this idea, this opportunity to be out here and to stay here and connect with the guys." The four-time league MVP said he was relieved to get paired with Metcalf, adding he "was secretly kind of hoping it wasn't a big lineman or something, maybe somebody that cared about their hygiene a little bit." Rodgers opened training camp this week with an interception on his first pass, but the veteran NFL player remained optimistic about the team's chances this season. "There's going to be picks, for sure. I'm going to try to fit certain things in. You gotta deal with some sweat on the ball from time to time. So, it's going to be a good challenge for me throwing in this heat every single day. I look forward to it, but I'm gonna throw some picks. But I'm gonna throw some touchdowns, too." Rodgers added that there are around 10 to 12 teams that have a "legitimate" chance at winning the Super Bowl, and he believes — at least "on paper" — that the Steelers are one of them.
