Chelsea Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Manchester United Winger: Good Option For Maresca?

Yahooa day ago
In a recent report, ESPN's James Olley claimed that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. It has been revealed that the Blues are monitoring the situation of the Argentine attacker as they look to recruit him this summer.
Garnacho's Impressive Form In English Football
Garnacho had a decent campaign at Old Trafford recently but struggled to find consistency at times for Man United in the final third. The 21-year-old found the back of the net 11 times and earned ten assists in 58 matches for the Red Devils last season in multiple competitions.
The Argentine talent was a real menace in the opponent's half as he averaged 3.44 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 34.5% of his attempts on target. Garnacho was tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the final third after completing 78.9% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).
Garnacho's current contract at the Mancunian club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it won't be easy for Chelsea to get a deal done for him this off-season.

Is Garnacho A Good Option For Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca?
Garnacho is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with it in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play some killer passes in the opponent's half.
The Argentina international is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also perform as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if required. He is already quite familiar with Premier League football and won't take any time to adjust to life at Chelsea.
Garnacho would add more pace and goals to Enzo Maresca's frontline. He is good enough to serve as a useful rotational piece in the West London club's match-day squad.
At 21, Garnacho has the potential to be a future star in the Premier League. Therefore, it makes sense for the Blues to get him on board this summer. He has what it takes to help Chelsea compete across all fronts over the next decade which makes him a decent option for the London giants to consider this off-season.

Lionesses sink Spain in shootout to win Euro 2025

Chloe Kelly has fired in the decisive spot-kick as England beat Spain 3-1 in a penalty shootout to win Euro 2025. It meant England had successfully defended the title they won three years ago after an enthralling game that ended 1-1 after extra time. Kelly said: "I'm so proud, so proud of this team, so grateful to wear this badge, and I'm so proud to be English. I was cool, I was composed and I knew I was going to hit the back of the net." Congratulations to our valiant @Lionesses! 🦁🦁🦁A message from The King following the team's victory at the Women's Euros 2025.#WEURO2025 — The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) July 27, 2025 It was another spectacular turnaround from Sarina Wiegman's side, who came back from two goals down to beat Sweden in a shootout in the last eight and beat Italy in the semi-finals with another extra-time goal from Kelly. Wiegman said: "I can't believe it. The word 'team' really described who we are - a team. We said we can win by any means and that's what we have shown again today." World and Nations League champions Spain made the breakthrough in the 25th minute as Ona Batlle crossed and the England defence were caught flat-footed, allowing Mariona Caldentey to head the ball past Hannah Hampton. With Lauren James hampered by an ankle inury, England were struggling, but Kelly came off the bench to replace her just before the break and it proved an inspired substitution from Wiegman. Kelly helped close down England's porous left flank and provided the cross for Alessia Russo to level in the 57th minute, the forward heading home her inch-perfect assist. Spain continued to monopolise the ball but could not find another goal before the end of normal time, and the story continued through extra time as they probed and probed, but could not break the English defence as the game finished 1-1. The Spaniards got the shootout off to a great start when Cata Coll stopped Beth Mead's effort, but England keeper Hannah Hampton saved from Caldentey and Aitana Bonmati to put England in the driving seat. 🎶 I KEEP DANCING ON MY OWN! 🎶ICONIC. — Lionesses (@Lionesses) July 27, 2025 Coll got Spain back into it with another one-handed stop to block Leah Williamson, but Spain substitute Salma Paralluelo hit her kick wide of the target. That set the stage for Kelly to repeat her 2022 heroics, when she scored the extra-time winner over Germany that won them the title at Wembley. Kelly made her trademark prancing run-up before smashing the ball into the net and peeling away in ecstasy to celebrate with her teammates in front of the England fans. The final was the first time since the inaugural edition in 1984, in which England were beaten by Sweden, that the game was decided by a penalty shootout. Hampton said: "Unbelievable, incredible, showing throughout this tournament we can come back when we go a goal down, and we have that grit. We've got English blood in us, so we never say die and we just keep going, and we did that today."

‘Very painful' – England star played Euro 2025 with a broken leg

England defender Lucy Bronze has confirmed that she played the entirety of Euro 2025 with a broken leg on the way to glory. The Lionesses got revenge for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup final by defeating Spain via penalty shootout. Arsenal attacker Mariona Caldentey put the Spaniards ahead in the first half, but it was cancelled out by a looping header from clubmate Alessia Russo in the 57th minute. With the scores level after full-time and extra-time, penalties beckoned. Spain were one up after the first round of attempts, but missed the rest of their spot kicks, two of which were saved by Chelsea's Hannah Hampton, before Chloe Kelly netted the winner. 'What we have done today is unbelievable,' Bronze told BBC One after the final whistle. 'Winning on penalties is an amazing feeling, but to lose on penalties is a horrible way to lose a final. 'This year it was meant for England. Today we have shown resilience. We have shown everyone to believe in yourself no matter what people say about you.' 'I have actually played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia, and then I have hurt my knee on my other leg. Women's Euro: England crowned European champions

England crowned European champions The Women's Euro delivered its verdict on the evening of Sunday, July 27, 2025. England have been crowned European champions, overcoming Spain in the final. Just like the last Euro final and the World Cup, England (the European champions) and Spain (the world champions) faced off in this blockbuster Women's Euro final—a true clash at the pinnacle of women's football. Spain lived up to their billing by taking the lead in the first half. It was Caldentey who broke the deadlock before the half-hour mark (25', 1-0). In the second half, England found their answer. Russo netted the equalizer (57', 1-1). With the score level at full time, the match headed into extra time. But once again, neither side could find the breakthrough, and it all came down to the nerve-wracking penalty shootout. In this ultimate test, Mead and Williamson missed their spot-kicks for England, while three Spaniards faltered: Caldentey, Bonmati, and Paralluelo.
