Mr. Ranganath instructed the Irrigation engineers at HYDRAA to prepare a detailed project report with regard to the works. The water body receives surplus water from the chain linked lakes of Nagireddy Kunta, Kapra Lake, Mothukula Kunta and Bison Kunta, a statement from HYDRAA informed. It also has a sewage diversion channel. A walking track of three kilometres will be developed around the lake, along with mini parks, trees, and seating facilities.
Ms. Mishra informed Mr. Ranganath that representatives of industries in Cherlapally industrial area are ready to fund the development of the lake, and requested a comprehensive report with segment wise expenditure components. HYDRAA initiates ‘Basthi tho Dosti' programme

The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has started a new initiative titled 'Basthi tho Dosti' (Friendship with Slums) to spread awareness about its activities in city slums. The first programme under this initiative was held at Toli Chowki, where HYDRAA has cleared a stretch of Bulkapur drain, removing tonnes of garbage and silt. Addressing several representatives from surrounding slums, Commissioner of HYDRAA A.V. Ranganath said that the agency has always been on the side of the common man. He urged people to counter the narratives against HYDRAA being spread by land-grabbers. The homes of the poor would never be pulled down, and if they had to be pulled down, HYDRAA would go ahead only after the residents are provided alternative housing, he added. Mr. Ranganath said that areas such as Virat Nagar and Basava Tarakam Nagar in Shaikpet and Tolichowki would get flooded due to garbage and silt accumulated over years, which included mattresses, pillows and plastic waste. CCTV cameras will be installed all along the Bulkapur drain, as a deterrent to people littering the drain. HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papaiah said that a total of 750 slums in the city are flood prone, and HYDRAA will take up drain cleaning at all these locations.

im is to transform Tirupati into a clean, healthy city: Commissioner

Tirupati: Making the pilgrim city Tirupati most clean and healthy is our aim, said Corporation Commissioner Narapureddy Mourya. Towards reaching the goal, she said the corporation entered into an agreement with AGS (Academy of Gandhian Studies), a city-based NGO for better waste management through segregation of waste at source. ITC (Indian Tobacco Company), a leading company, will support the AGS in the project i. e best waste management under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Accordingly, the Commissioner said the AGS will take up the grassroot level awareness programme for segregation of waste at source i. e from every household in the city. Apart from segregation of waste, the AGS will also take up creating awareness on effective recycling of waste and also preparation of home compost. Despite the corporation's best efforts which has been implementing door-to-door collection of waste, the segregation of waste is not followed effectively. Hence the corporation roped in NGO AGS for creating awareness on segregation of waste to achieve 100% waste segregation. AGS Executive Director Gopala Krishna Murthy, Deputy Commissioner Amaraiah and AGS coordinator Kumari were present.
