Clipse Dish On The Neptunes Breakup: 'Whenever We See Each Other, It's Always Still Love'

Yahoo3 days ago
The Clipse and The Neptunes made magic together, but sadly, that can no longer happen. The Virginia rap duo recently shared their feelings on the production duo's breakup and the relationship between the two collectives.
'Absolutely miss Chad. As far as, you know, being on the album,' Malice said during their appearance on Popcast. 'But I'll see Chad in the airport, in the street, at Buffalo Wild Wings, you know, in VA. Whatever they got going on, just hope for the best for that […] Whenever we see each other, it's always still love. Always.'
Pusha T chimed in, saying that despite Chad Hugo missing from the fold, the work continues. 'Everybody knows my favorite album is Hell Hath No Fury. Pharrell did that alone. That's it,' he stated. 'Chad's my guy. I love Chad. Pharrell's my guy, love Chad, too. We're brothers, we came up together. But, you know, when you say missing in the music, there is no missing in the music when it comes to the Clipse. And if it's just P, it don't matter—we find what we find.'
The Hip-Hop world wept when they learned that Pharrell and Hugo were no longer on speaking terms due to a legal battle over ownership of The Neptunes' name and trademarks, as they initially had an agreement to split everything evenly. Skateboard P wished his former partner-in-crime all the best in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. 'I'm very grateful for our time together,' he said.
The legendary producer is handling Clipse's upcoming album, Let God Sort Em Out, all on his own, and so far they have shared the singles 'Ace Trumpets' and 'So Be It.' The latter song was incendiary, as Push targeted Travis Scott.
He added more context to his diss in an interview with GQ, recalling how the Houston artist interrupted one of their recording sessions in Paris to play his 2023 album Utopia. Push went on to say that Scott withheld playing Drake's verse on 'Meltdown,' where he dissed both the Daytona artist and Pharrell. Listen to 'Meltdown' below.

Travis Scott's ‘JackBoys 2' Tops Chart, Ends Justin Bieber's Six-Album Streak of No. 1 Debuts

Travis Scott came out on top in a stacked week of new releases on Sunday, as his latest album JackBoys 2 debuted atop Billboard's 200 Albums chart, beating out Justin Bieber's surprise release Swag, as well as Let God Sort 'Em Out, Clipse's first album in over 15 years. JackBoys 2, considered a compilation album with his Cactus Jack label, marks Scott's sixth album to top the Billboard chart (that's four solo records as well as the original JackBoys compilation album). It opens with 232,000 units and was buoyed by strong traditional sales, selling 160,000 copies, Billboard reported. (Luminate reported last week that I'm The Problem is the biggest album in the U.S. through the first half of 2025.) The chart news marks the first time Bieber hasn't opened at No. 1 in his 15-year career, ending a six-album streak of No. 1 debuts that began with his first record, My World 2.0, back in 2010. Despite that streak ending, Swag had a more than respectable opening, debuting with 163,000 overall units on 198.77 million streams, per Billboard. Notably, Swag's debut was carried almost entirely by streams, with physical sales set to be included on a later chart after his physical units are shipped out. Swag appears to have netted Bieber another hit with 'Daisies,' which topped both Apple Music and Spotify's daily U.S. charts this past week. It's a potential contender for a No. 1 debut on the Hot 100 chart, in close competition with Alex Warren's 'Ordinary,' which has spent the past six weeks atop the chart. The New Hot 100 chart will release on Monday. Other than Bieber, Clipse earned 118,000 equivalent units with Let God Sort 'Em Out, debuting at No. 4 on this week's chart. Did Justin Bieber Diss Clipse's New Album On Instagram?

Justin Bieber shocked the world this past weekend by releasing his new album Swag on the same day Clipse shared their highly anticipated Let God Sort Em Out, leading many to theorize Def Jam did this intentionally to overshadow their former signees. The 31-year-old inadvertently fanned those flames by sharing a slanderous Instagram story this week. Kerwin Frost tagged Bieber in an Instagram story praising his new LP and putting down the Virginia rappers' latest effort. 'Justice is served,' Frost wrote with a cross emoji replacing the letter T. '@lilbieber emptied the clip. THIS IS THE ONLY ALBUM THAT MATTERS RIGHT NOW. This album is way better then the @clipse. @clipse is for bitter grown men who collect kaws dolls and shop at kith and union.' The London, Ontario, Canada artist reposted Frost's post to his Instagram story; however, he did so in a way where it is not initially visible that someone else wrote the post unless they wait to see Kerwin Frost's name pop up. Frost reposted Bieber's reposted and added 'Birds of a feather crash out together,' with a purple heart emoji, feather emoji, and hug emoji. Nonetheless, it is unclear whether Bieber shared this to acknowledge the love for Swag or because he agrees with the thoughts about the legendary duo. Regardless, it stirred up many feelings online. 'This what happens when you got goofy ni**as telling you your soul black,' one X user wrote, referring to one of Druski's interludes on Swag. 'Yukon a good song but wtf is this. Come [on Biebs],' another fan wrote. Pusha T hasn't shied away from addressing his issues with anyone while rolling out Let God Sort Em Out, so it is possible fans will hear something about this moving forward. Until then, they can check out the two vastly different albums. Clipse tapped Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Stove God Cooks, and more for their lyrical exhibition. Bieber, on the other hand, featured Gunna, Sexyy Red, and Cash Cobain on his surprise R&B release. More from What Are Clipse's First-Week Sales Projections For Their New LP 'Let God Sort Em Out'?
