While the alleged racket operating from Vidisha district of central Madhya Pradesh was busted by cops from southeastern MP's Anuppur district police recently with the arrest of one of the accused, the victim 50-year-old Ashish Tamrakar, who is reportedly the son of a BJP leader Avdhesh Tamrakar in Kotma area of Anuppur district is yet to come out the long-drawn mental trauma.
'Despite being counselled thoroughly, he still believes that the tormentors will mentally harass him, demand more money and if the demands were not met, they would put him behind bars in some hawala business case,' a senior police officer from Anuppur district told the TNIE on Sunday.
Back in 2017, Ashish Tamrakar, who is into the business of electronic goods, got in touch with some men claiming to be working for an investment/stock broking firm (operating from Bhopal and Indore). They lured him with quick and high returns and made him invest around Rs 17 lakh. The money invested by him was possibly earned by him from futures trading.

The story of Indian women: Empowered and powerless
Typically, the politics of gender in India has been a backlash against the perceived educational and financial independence of women. The reactions, particularly on social media, to the recent murder of a young tennis player allegedly by her father show that there are groups that view the rise of women celebrities and influencers as a threat to a system that rests on male power. The murdered girl's father told the Haryana police that he had been driven to the act because he had been constantly taunted for 'living off his daughter's income'. Barely a week later, Balasore district in Odisha faced a public bandh with angry citizens demanding justice for a 20-year-old student who had immolated herself after the college turned a deaf ear to her repeated complaints about a senior faculty member harassing her sexually. Former CM and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik said in a post on X that a failed system did not help a female student struggling for justice. There is little sensible discussion over such deaths. Both deaths coincidentally occurred in BJP-ruled states and are being politicised by the Opposition. This has resulted in the usual whataboutery from the ruling party's quarters: Why focus only on BJP-ruled states? What about the rape-murder of a doctor on a West Bengal campus? Some have called the Haryana incident an 'honour killing' since the family was prosperous, and the FIR states that the father of the player-turned-coach was angry with his increasingly defiant daughter. Even the term he used in his confession to his cousin used patriarchal archaism: 'Maine kanya vadh kiya hai (I have committed filicide).' Ironically, it is obvious from both these cases how, whatever the ground reality, gender equality has acquired the aura of an ideal socio-political stance for all Indian political parties. Even while defending perpetrators from their fold, all parties are quick to proclaim support for nari shakti and nari mukti. When elections are due, they promise subsidies and cash donations — now an inalienable part of all manifestos. But the promises printed on posters plastered all over town with the party supremo's beaming mugshot hide the ugly reality that the daily news unveils. From Vinesh Phogat and Radhika Yadav, to the Balasore case, we can clearly see the injustices that prevail within homes and workplaces even for women who appear to be protected, well-off and financially independent. Whatever the politicians' proclaimed position, scores of young Indian women are learning how their deemed empowerment may reveal another facet of their powerlessness as daughters, mothers, sisters, students and employees. Committees to register complaints against sexual harassment at the workplace often underscore a woman's powerlessness to access justice. We also realise how daily actions and quips, seemingly innocent or unintended, remind women of all ages of the Laxman rekha marking boundaries of female ambition and what society/employers will expect of them after elections and Mahila Shakti Divas and Ladli bahin/ beti celebrations are over. Inequality has many champions on social media. Not just trolls but many well-known influencers openly victim-shame and promote prejudice. This impacts the young indelibly. We can claim to have some of the most progressive laws to help and protect women from sexual predators. In reality, women see the law and instruments of the state treating those without connections in high places as abstract creatures with abstract rights. In Amrit Kaal, no law will sanction a father shooting his daughter. But the state often only intervenes once the most serious crime has already been committed. No state allows kanwariyas to assault a girl on a scooty with shoes because she defiled their holy cargo either. But this happened. No law in India will silence women or stop them from filing complaints of abuse against predatory male bosses. CoinDCX hit by $44.2 million security breach; founders say customer funds unaffected, safe
Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX has suffered a security breach, resulting in theft of $44.2 million, or ₹378 crore, even as the founders took to X to reassure that customer funds remained unaffected and safe, with the compromise limited to an internal operational account. The total exposure is being absorbed entirely by CoinDCX, using the company's treasury reserves, the company said in a First Incident Report released on Sunday. According to the report, on July 19, at 4 a.m., CoinDCX security systems detected an incident involving unauthorised access to one of its accounts on the partner exchange, leading to a financial exposure of about $44 million. The incident once again puts the spotlight on mounting security threats in the highly volatile world of cryptocurrencies. Last year, crypto exchange WazirX faced a hack in India, leading to the loss of more than $230 million, and marking one of the biggest such heists in India. The theft had prompted a thorough examination of safety measures and eroded sentiments. CoinDCX co-founders Sumit Gupta and Neeraj Khandelwal took to the social media platform X to address the situation, confirming that the attack was the result of a sophisticated server breach, targeting an internal wallet, not the ones holding customer assets. The incident was first flagged by blockchain investigator ZachXBT, following which the exchange made the disclosure public. "Today, one of our internal operational accounts -- used only for liquidity provisioning on a partner exchange -- was compromised due to a sophisticated server breach. I confirm that the CoinDCX wallets used to store customer assets are not impacted and are completely safe. This won't cause any loss to our customers. CoinDCX will be bearing the full amount," Mr. Gupta said. "The total amount lost was USD 44Mn out of our treasury assets. Coindcx Treasury will be bearing these losses," Mr. Khandelwal wrote. Following this, users rushed to check their balances, leading to a spike in withdrawal requests. The sudden surge in activity led to CoinDCX's portfolio APIs, which display user balances and transaction histories, becoming jammed and unresponsive. For several hours, many were unable to even see their holdings on the app, adding fuel to rumours and anxiety online. The co-founders later updated that Portfolio APIs have been restored. Affected infrastructure has been completely isolated, and CoinDCX operations continue to run normally, the company said. CERT-In, or the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, has been informed about the incident. Detailed forensics with two globally reputed security agencies is being carried out, and reports will be shared for public benefit, it added. "CoinDCX services remain fully operational. Trading activity, INR deposits and INR withdrawals continue. INR withdrawals below Rs 5 lakhs will reflect in your account within 5 hours, while withdrawals above Rs 5 lakhs will be processed within 72 hours. The incident was isolated and has no impact on your portfolio access or operations," the company stated. Social media is flooded with mixed reactions. While some praised CoinDCX for absorbing the losses and protecting user funds, others criticised the delay in public disclosure and raised concerns over the broader security of crypto platforms in India. "Coindcx silent for 17 hours? That's more suspense than a thriller! In crypto, transparency isn't optional; it's key. Stay open to keep trust alive!" a user wrote. "Good to see CoinDCX acting responsibly, assuring user funds are safe, and not passing losses onto customers. Sets a positive precedent for Indian crypto exchanges," another said.

Another Businessman Shot Dead In Bihar Days After Gopal Khemka's Murder
