Emirates reveals top trending summer getaways

Emirates has revealed the top trending summer getaways that travellers are obsessing over this year. Global booking data and search patterns on the DXB-based airline's website reveal that travellers are shifting towards new cultural experiences and off-the-beaten-track locales. Flight searches for summer travel in July and August have climbed by seven percent in general compared to last year, with travellers based in France experiencing a 35 percent rise in outbound travel searches. Vietnam has emerged as the top trending destination for Emirates customers with a 61 percent increase in interest, following the introduction of a new route to Da Nang earlier this year. Sri Lanka ranks in third with a 32 percent increase in interest in travellers seeking a cultural getaway with pristine beaches. Japan and France continue to appeal to travellers with the East Asian nation experiencing a 28 percent spike in searches, while the European destination saw a 25 percent boost. For UAE-based travellers, travel interest has risen by 13 percent overall year-on-year for searches to destinations like Sri Lanka, Jordan, France, India, Lebanon and Morocco. Solo travellers make up nearly half of all US, Indian and Australian visitors, mixing business with leisure during stays averaging just over one week. Family holidays make up the majority of all British visitors to the city, with most favouring a longer-term holiday in the UAE. Similarly, American families favour a stay of one to two weeks, while Indian families are more likely to favour a short getaway. Couples travelling for between two weeks and a month also like to travel to Dubai with younger Australian and German couples particularly favouring a long stay in the emirate.
