MP Cabinet approves 'Rahveer' scheme, metro launch, and Rs 2,100 cr Adi Shankaracharya project at special meet in Indore
Following the meeting, Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya expressed gratitude to CM Yadav for organising the cabinet meeting at Rajwada and briefed the media about the major decisions taken.
Among the key approvals was the 'Rahveer' scheme, under which individuals who help road accident victims by taking them to a hospital or primary health center will be rewarded with Rs 25,000 by the state government. 'The person will have to immediately inform 108 ambulance service, and the police will not harass them. This scheme will play an important role in saving lives,' said Vijayvargiya.
The minister also highlighted the government's continued efforts to double farmers' income, including regular hikes in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops.
The cabinet also approved the formation of Metropolitan Development Authorities in Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, with CM Yadav as the chairman of each.
Vijayvargiya assured that the functioning of municipal corporations would remain unaffected. 'These authorities will ensure systematic urban development with a focus on future needs,' he said.
In another significant move, the cabinet approved a plan to build working women's hostels in industrial areas. These hostels will be built under a Public-Pirvate Partnership (PPP) model and funded partially through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions of industrialists.
'The objective of this scheme is to ensure safety and housing for women working in these areas,' the minister said.
Referring to the legacy of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Vijayvargiya said, 'Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai had given training to weavers to make sarees in Maheshwar to provide employment during her rule. Even today, the Maheshwari sarees are famous globally and a skill development program dedicated to it has been started. Under the programme, an exemption from bank interest is provided. A provision of Rs 100 crore has also been made for the scheme.'
The cabinet also gave its nod to a Rs 2,100 crore project for promoting Sanatan traditions around the statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar. The project includes hostels for research scholars, a library, and other facilities aimed at promoting spiritual tourism. A hostel with a capacity of 1,000 people will also be constructed, he added.
To boost healthcare infrastructure, the cabinet approved Rs 773 crore for Indore's MY Hospital, which will be upgraded with modern medical facilities, including heart and liver surgery units to reduce dependency on hospitals in Delhi and Mumbai. Besides, Rs 321 crore was approved for the development of the district hospital in Rewa.
Vijayvargiya also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bhopal on May 31, where he will address a Women's Convention at Jamboree Ground.
During his visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate metro services in Bhopal and Indore, as well as the newly constructed airports in Datia and Satna, he added. (ANI)

UP Police seeks custody of kingpin Harsh Vardhan Jain in fake embassy case
Ghaziabad/Lucknow, Jul 25 (PTI) Police in Ghaziabad has moved an application seeking the remand of Harsh Vardhan Jain, the alleged mastermind behind bogus 'embassies', who was arrested and sent to jail earlier this week for fraud and other offences. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, told PTI on Friday that the application for Jain's police custody has been filed and is likely to be heard by the court on Monday. 'Beyond routine investigation, police are also looking into Jain's liaisoning network. His association and photographs with international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi have surfaced during the preliminary probe," the officer said. 'Authorities suspect there may be a counter-intelligence angle involved, and several incriminating documents have been recovered," the officer added. Jain's elaborate racket was busted by the Special Task Force (STF) and the case is now being investigated by Ghaziabad Police. The STF is assisting the local police in pursuing the case. Meanwhile, the police also took note of a purported 'official statement" issued by 'Westarctica" on Friday in which the micronation (a self-declared entity but unrecognised officially) distanced itself from Jain. 'Jain was an authorised representative engaging in unauthorized activities," the statement from 'Westarctica" said, clarifying that while Jain held the honorary title of 'Honorary Consul to India" after making a donation in 2016, he was 'never granted ambassadorial status". Founded in 2001 by former US Navy intelligence analyst Travis McHenry, 'Westarctica" functions primarily as an environmental advocacy nonprofit registered in the US, with tax-exempt status since 2018. 'Although they have issued a statement but its status as a nation is unrecognised therefore the statement holds zero value for us. However, we are getting it legally vetted for further perusal," the police officer, involved in the probe, told PTI. On Tuesday, the STF had raided Jain's rented bungalow in Ghaziabad's Kavinagar area and uncovered a fake embassy setup. The STF recovered Rs 44.7 lakh in cash, multiple foreign currencies, fake diplomatic passports, 18 forged diplomatic number plates, and seals purportedly from the Ministry of External Affairs and firms in 34 countries. STF officials revealed that Jain had previously established over a dozen companies in Europe, allegedly used to facilitate hawala operations in collaboration with international associates, including Hyderabad-born Turkish citizen Ehsan Ali Syed – now jailed in Switzerland for fraud. Jain had also styled himself as an ambassador to other fictitious entities like 'Saborga", 'Paulovia" and 'Lodonia", allegedly defrauding individuals under the pretense of offering overseas jobs and visas. HAM (S): Oppn baffled by high growth rate of Bihar
Patna: Hindustani Awam Morcha (S) has flayed the opposition for attacking the NDA govt in Bihar on the development front. As the opposition alleges financial irregularities pointed out in the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, HAMS (S) national president and minister Santosh Suman on Friday said they were baffled by the high growth rate of Bihar under the good governance of the NDA govt. "The opposition allegations are baseless as they cannot see Bihar's GSDP increase by more than 10 times in the last two decades," Suman said. According to the CAG report tabled in the legislative assembly on Thursday, the state's GSDP in FY 2023-24 grew at 14.47% over the previous year and the revenue expenditure increased by 3.55% whereas its revenue receipts increased by 11.96% over the previous year. But the CAG report also pointed out that the state govt did not submit utilisation certificates of funds amounting to Rs70,877 crore. "The high pendency of utilisation certificates is fraught with the risk of embezzlement, misappropriation and diversion of funds," the CAG report said. CPI(ML) politburo member Dhirendra Jha said the CAG report has exposed the functioning of the state govt and its so-called development model. As on March 2024, DC bills worth Rs 9,205 crore were pending against Rs22,130 AC bills. "Non-submission of DC bills within the prescribed period breaches financial discipline and enhances the risk of misappropriation of public money," the CAG report said. However, the minor water resources department minister said Bihar registered a growth rate of 14.47% in 2023-24, which was 4.87% more than the national average. "Bihar, which is running at a fast pace on the track of development, has consistently maintained its double digits growth, except for the Corona period," Suman said. He said Bihar's growth rate in 2022-23 was 15.30%. Citing the CAG report, he said all the allegations of the opposition regarding Bihar's backwardness have been proved baseless. Suman said the opposition should now stop misleading the people with their false propaganda and accept the ground reality. "Before 2005, Bihar's GSDP was only Rs82,490 crore, which has now increased to Rs8.54 lakh crore. The more than 10-fold increase in our GSDP in the last two decades has been possible only due to the good governance of the NDA govt and the ban on corruption and loot in the state. The new line of credit agreed between New Delhi and Malé will be 'utilised' for 'priority projects' in key sectors including defence, sports, healthcare, education and housing, Mohamed Muizzu, the President of Maldives said during the joint press statement by both leaders. India 25 July agreed to extend a line of credit of $565 million (Rs 4,850 crore) to Maldives, along with reducing the annual debt repayments (by 40 percent) owed by the island nation to New Delhi, in an effort to aid Malé's fragile economic situation. The Indian PM and Maldivian President also agreed to the terms of reference for opening negotiations for a free trade agreement. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday declared that ties between India and Maldives will 'always remain bright and clear' highlighting the growth in ties between the two nations over the last fourteen months. He was speaking at a joint press conference with the Maldivian President 25 July. The other major announcement made by the two leaders is the agreement on the terms of reference for a free trade agreement. The Maldives-China FTA, first signed in 2014 came into effect on 1 January. The Maldivian President said: 'I am also pleased to announce the initiation of negotiations for a free trade agreement between India and the Maldives. This landmark initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening our economic partnership.' The two countries signed four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and three agreements. The agreements included the reduction of the annual debt repayments owed by Malé to India. New Delhi has through the years extended a number of lines of credit to the island nation, as well as purchasing treasury bills and offering currency swap lines, to keep the Maldivian economy ticking. Comments made by junior ministers in Muizzu's government had set off a 'boycott Maldives' social media trend. The Maldivian President further focused on the removal of roughly 80 unarmed Indian troops from the island nation. Eventually by May 2024, the Indian military soldiers were replaced by a technical team focused on maintaining three defence platforms for the island nation. Indian tourists that had thronged the archipelago in large numbers right after the COVID-19 lockdowns were lifted, have since slowed down in the last 18 months.
