Kendal Calling issue tribute to 'genius' Brian Wilson
Wilson was the eldest and last surviving of the three musical brothers who formed the American rock band in 1961, alongside their cousin Mike Love and school friend Al Jardine.
The Beach Boys performed at the Cumbrian festival in 2017 alongside Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers and Franz Ferdinand.
A spokesperson for Kendal Calling said on Instagram: 'We are very sad to hear the news of Brian Wilson's passing.
'Genius is a term often overused but not in this instance. Undoubtedly one of the greatest songwriters of all time and a master of his craft.
'We had the pleasure of hosting Brian in the Deer Park back in 2017 - it was one of those real 'pinch me' moments getting to see his name on a Kendal Calling poster.'

Rebel Wilson Faces New Lawsuit from 'The Deb' Producers, Shares Film Clip in Defiant Response
Rebel Wilson's 'The Deb' premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024 but has not received a public release yet due to an ongoing legal battle Rebel Wilson is reacting to a new lawsuit filed against her by the production company behind her directorial debut The Deb in Australia. On Friday, July 25, outlets like The Guardian, News Australia and The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the U.K. based company AI Film filed a lawsuit in Australia's New South Wales Supreme Court alleging that Wilson, 45, has deliberately sabotaged the movie's release and that she has caused the company "financial and reputational damage." In response, the Pitch Perfect actress posted the opening number to the movie musical on Instagram and a lengthy message on her Instagram Stories stating the new lawsuit "makes no sense." "As the director, producer and co-star who nurtured a project called THE DEB for 5 years from a 3 page idea into a gorgeous feature film - I want nothing more than to have this film released and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this to happen," Wilson wrote in part on her Instagram Stories. "To say otherwise is complete nonsense. I'm so proud of the film!" Wilson wrote that she believes the new lawsuit constitutes "continued bullying and harassment from" the movie's financiers at AI Films, Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden. Ghost, Cameron and Holden originally filed a lawsuit against Wilson in California in July 2024, claiming that she sought to receive "credit for work she did not do" on the film related to the project's original music. As Wilson claimed at the time and now, the producers attempted to prevent the movie from making its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival; the movie ultimately did premiere despite the ongoing legal battle, but has not released publicly. That lawsuit is ongoing. 'These proceedings are regrettable but essential to ensure The Deb's timely release," AI Films told The Guardian in a statement on July 25. "It's a joyous, fun film, and we are sure that audiences are going to love it.' Attorneys for Wilson filed a countersuit against Ghost, Cameron and Holden in October 2024, alleging that the trio deliberately misappropriated $900,000 in Australian currency from the movie's budget, coerced her signature on agreements related to the movie under duress, and that Ghost sexually harassed The Deb's lead actress Charlotte MacInnes, which allegedly caused the person "to suffer a breakdown." Per The Guardian, MacInnes later filed a declaration in the U.S. court stating that Wilson fabricated the claims, describing them as 'completely false and absurd." On July 25, Wilson wrote that she was releasing the first song from The Deb, a number titled "F--- My Life," because it's a phrase she has grown used to using during the ongoing legal battle. "Every day since discovering their dodgy behavior (reported by cast and crew) I have said "F--- my life" but not in the fun way like in the song - in the way of like 'how on earth did my joyful directorial debut get s--- on by vile financiers who spew toxicity ALL because I told the truth about them,' " she wrote. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. In Wilson's Instagram Stories, she renewed her allegations that the producer trio stole money from the film's budget and that a cast member reported feeling uncomfortable with one of the producer's actions on set. "I reported both things. I'd do the same again. I believe in a safe and inclusive workplace," Wilson wrote."I've moved on, now directing my 2nd movie and loving it. But regarding THE DEB all I can literally say is 'F--- my life" with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. Everyone who worked on the movie and who knows me KNOWS I put my blood, sweat and tears into this," she added. "Everyone knows I'm a "truth teller" when it comes to vile people in the industry. I just want this movie to come out and for all the amazingly talented contributors to be recognized for their sensational work!" Read the original article on People
