Naidu made an emotional appeal to Telugu diaspora to invest in Andhra Pradesh to bring it on to development track.
Naidu on Sunday addressed a mammoth gathering of over 2,500 people of the Telugu diaspora from Southeast Asia in Singapore. Telugu people from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia atended the event. He remarked that Telugu people have adapted to the changing global scenarios. He said that the reforms brought by the TDP-led governments have transformed the lives of Telugu people.
Naidu said that the Singapore government prepared a master plan for Amaravati for free following his personal request. He said he had entrusted the construction of the seed capital Singapore govt after seeing their amazing performance in construction of townships in many countries. However, the regime change in the state in 2019 election has led to blaming the Singapore govt which created unnecessary gap with the state govt.

"I came to Singapore to rectify the past mistakes and set the records straight. I came to re-establish the AP brand in Singapore. I regret the inconvenience caused to Singapore during the previous regime. The Singapore government may not come forward again for the construction of seed capital, but I wanted to share the facts the political leadership of Singapore. Amaravati would have reached Singapore's level had TDP won 2019 elections," said Naidu.
Naidu said that they would ensure that such mistakes do not happen again. He said that he had great admiration and respect for Singapore. It stands as a testament to integrity and honesty. Corruption is minimal here. "We are developing a Quantum Valley in Amaravati and have announced a Green Hydrogen Valley. There is a long coastline, and many ports can be built. Port-based industries can be established on a large scale.
There will be 20 ports in AP, with the potential for 15-20 airports. There is immense scope for development. Andhra Pradesh will be the logistics hub of India. We are working with the Gates Foundation and Tata in the health sector. Many Telugu people hold key positions in prominent organisations abroad. Such individuals can share their experiences with AP. They can invest or be service providers. Whatever you wish to do, the government is ready to fully cooperate," Naidu assured.
CM assured that he would ensure direct flights are operated from Singapore to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati in AP. HRD and IT minister Nara Lokesh, municipal administration minister Narayana, Industries minister TG Bharat, NRTS chairman Dr Vemuru Ravikumar and others were also present.

Budameru disaster due to failure of NDA
Vijayawada: Former MLA and Vijayawada Central Constituency Coordinator Malladi Vishnu alleged Budameru flood disaster in September 2024 was a major failure of the current NDA administration. He said no leader held even a single review meeting before the floods struck and devastated the Vijayawada city and lakhs of people suffered. Vishnu responded to the comments made by P Narayana, the minister for municipal administration and urban development. Narayana alleged that the YSRCP administration was held responsible for the Budameru disaster. During his visit to the city, Narayana on Saturday blamed the YSRCP government. YSRCP leader Malladi Vishnu on Sunday responded to the allegations of minister Narayana. Vishnu said lakhs of people suffered due to Budameru floods. He said despite Rs 500 crore received by Chief Minister's Relief Fund, only minimal aid reached victims, and even the District Collector's office did not respond to public grievances, he alleged. Malladi Vishnu made these comments during the YSRCP meeting titled 'Babu Surety and Fraud Guarantee' held on Sunday in 64th Division of the Central Constituency under the supervision of Division Corporator Yerragorla Tirupatamma. Vishnu said the YSRCP launched a massive campaign against the NDA rule and its failure to deliver Super Six promises made to the people. Malladi Vishnu stated that the campaign has already been taken across three clusters in the Central Constituency and will now extend to all divisions. 'Chandrababu Naidu misled the public with fraudulent promises before the elections and came to power. Now, their leaders have no courage to face the people or explain what they've accomplished,' he said. He said that not a single one of the 'Super Six' schemes promised by Naidu before the elections has been implemented. He said the NDA government has borrowed over Rs 2 lakh crore loans in just one year, yet it's only notable act has been raising pensions to Rs.4,000, Vishnu claimed. He criticised the government for increasing public debt by 15.61 percent in one year, calling it 'unsustainable and irresponsible.'

India-UK trade deal not historic but should help Indian workers in UK: Swaminathan Aiyar
Swaminathan Aiyar , Consulting Editor, ET Now, suggests that while the UK trade agreement may not drastically alter the overall scenario due to existing low trade levels, any increase is beneficial. A significant achievement is the improved conditions for Indian workers in the UK, including exemptions from social security contributions and the ability to work remotely in 35 sectors, enhancing their earnings. India-UK Bilateral trade currently stands at $21 to $24 billion, with targets to hit $120 billion by 2030. Is that leap realistic? What must happen to bridge the gap there? Swaminathan Aiyar: Well, to say it is historic is a clear exaggeration. It is a useful thing. We live in a world right now where trade barriers are going up and it is happening all over the place, not just in the USA. Others in retaliation are putting theirs up. We ourselves have retaliated. So, it has fallen away in importance. The old colonial connection is completely severed and Britain itself has suffered a substantial amount of deindustrialisation. And if you ask what are the main exports of England's, somebody will say Premier League football or The Economist. It does export scotch whiskey of course and that is where the duty is going to come down from 150% to 75%, subsequently maybe to 40%. That still gives plenty of protection for Indian industry. For anybody who is worried, I need to emphasise that we now have two or three artisanal whiskey companies in India which in blind tasting have beaten everybody else. Now, of course, we are not mass-producing these things. Indri will have a small batch run. It is not like the continuous mass production of some famous scotch names, but we are competent and we are high class even in something like whiskey. So, I welcome the increased competition out there too. India itself will benefit significantly in various ways. My next question is which sector is poised to benefit the most after this deal? Swaminathan Aiyar: At the end of it all, this freeing of trade will change things. But if already the UK is not among your top 10 trading partners, you cannot expect this to really change the whole scenario. If already the trade is low, it means the complimentarity between the two countries is not that high. It is much higher with China and the USA and much less with the UK. So, the overall scope for trade is limited, but we are increasing it and every increase is a good thing. This used to be one of the things that was holding up an agreement. There, we have a good deal. Indians can work in 35 sectors for two years without any office and that means you can land up there and just work from your residence with zoom and you can be functioning without going through all the difficulties of setting up a formal sector and there is an exemption for social security. This is important. A significant part of your salary, anything you earn when your people go to the UK, is cut and goes towards your long-term pension. Our fellows are going there to do IT or other work for one year, for two years, for three years, so there is no point in them paying into social security when they will get nothing out of it once they retire. You have to work a very large number of years before you can get those benefits. Earlier they resisted it and said they were not going to do it. The United States still has not allowed this, but Britain has given what the United States has not given and this is very useful. I do not know the exact rates of the deduction for different categories, but 10-15% or sometimes 20% of your salaries went in these various deductions. If that gets reduced, there is that much more these Indian professionals will be able to send home. So that is a positive thing.
