This Bonkers Underwater Jetpack Lets You Fly Through the Water at 7 MPH

The all-electric hydrodynamic device is the brainchild of Archie O'Brien. The British designer developed the first 'Cuda' prototype in 2018, putting in a further 30,000 hours of development before releasing the first commercial version in 2023. The design has been refined further still, with the 2025 edition being lighter and more juiced-up than previous models.
The major draw of the underwater jetpack is that it is entirely hands-free, unlike Seabobs and other sea scooters that require a tight grip. The backpack-like design, which weighs around 31 pounds all up, allows you to dive and spin like a dolphin at a speed of nine feet per second. The harness itself is made of heavy-duty fabric, with a high-grade limestone neoprene wrapping around the body. The back panel incorporates a carbon fiber skeleton to help everything stay stiff and secure against the thrust.
Speaking of which, the jetpack is equipped with a patented propulsion system that generates nearly 90 pounds of thrust. The electric motor drives a specially designed impeller that produces a powerful water jet, displacing about four gallons of water per second and pushing the user forward with remarkable force. Rated to 131 feet (40 meters), the jetpack is fitted with a 1 kWh lithium polymer battery that enables about 90 minutes of diving and can be fully charged in 75 minutes.
The jetpack is connected to an ergonomic controller with a full-color, hardened display that shows your performance, battery levels, and current depth. The system is said to be incredibly intuitive, requiring only about five minutes of use before the diver becomes comfortable.
CudaJet is not the only one making this style of underwater jetpack—XiaoTun recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a similar but slightly more affordable device—but the British company claims it created the world's first.
The jetpacks are made to order in the U.K., with a three-month lead time required for each. The regular 2025 model is priced at $30,778. CudaJet has also released a more premium Founder's Edition. Limited to 20, this exclusive numbered edition showcases a distinctive livery that combines jet black with gold highlights and a shimmering top coat. It also includes a lifetime warranty, in-water training, and first access to future products. CudaJet hasn't listed a price for the Founder's Edition, but says only 14 units are remaining.

Birmingham tributes to Ozzy Osbourne will be taken down and given to his family
Tributes left for Ozzy Osbourne in his home city of Birmingham are to be taken down and given to the late star's family. Birmingham City Council has started the process of removing thousands of tributes in honour of the Black Sabbath rocker following his death last month at the age of 76. Fans had flocked to the city to pay their respects to Ozzy as flowers, keepsake items and handwritten notes were left at Black Sabbath Bridge - a spot that marks the Paranoid band's formation. The council says that the tributes will be preserved at a secure location before being passed on to Ozzy's loved ones. It stated: "In due course, they will be passed on the Osbourne family, so they may keep them as a lasting reminder of the public's affection and support." A concert ticket from 1995 featured among the tributes, which also included artwork and beer cans. Kate Brazier, head of city centre events at the council, said: "We've found all sorts - artwork, cans of beer and candles. We've found a box of tea with a message that says, 'Just in case you can't find a cuppa in heaven.' "But for me, the one that stands out the most is (the concert ticket) that someone's left a message on. It probably meant a lot to someone at one point in their life." Ozzy's family viewed the tributes during his funeral procession in the city last week and said they were "deeply moved" by the affection the public had for the Prince of Darkness - who had played his final gig with Black Sabbath at Birmingham's Villa Park stadium just 17 days prior to his death. A statement read: "We are deeply moved by the heartfelt tributes that have been placed at the Black Sabbath Bridge and at the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street in recent days. "These expressions of remembrance reflect the profound impact that Ozzy had on the city and its people, as well as fans from around the world - BIRMINGHAM FOREVER!" Lord Mayor of Birmingham Zafar Iqbal said: "We understand how important it is for the community to have a space to grieve and celebrate Ozzy's legacy. Chris Hemsworth recalls 'out of body experience' as he played drums at Ed Sheeran gig
Chris Hemsworth had an "out of body experience" as he performed with Ed Sheeran. The Thor actor joined the Bad Habits hitmaker on stage at a concert in Bucharest, Romania in front of 70,000 fans after learning to play the drums for his National Geographic series Limitless: Live Better Now and recalled how he felt as if he was "floating" during the gig. Speaking at a Q+A for the show, Chris said: "(It was) very much a kind of out of body experience and there's something about being in unison and in time with, not just a band, but a mass group of people. "And I imagine it was sort of like a universal prayer or whatever, where people get together, and this sort of intention to point towards something positive in the same direction that there would be some interconnected experience. "And that's what it felt like. I felt like it was kind of beyond me at that point. I was just floating along for the ride." Hemsworth admits that it was challenging to come up with ideas for the new series after he had been "killed emotionally and physically" by the initial programme Limitless with Chris Hemsworth in 2022. The 41-year-old star said: "The first series almost killed me, emotionally and physically. That was by design. "We discussed, what, if we're going to do a second season, what could we tackle? What new science is there? What could we expand upon." Chris discovered during the making of Limitless that he was considerably more likely to suffer from Alzheimer's disease because of his genetics but he is prepared to "embrace death" as he doesn't think it can be cheated. The Rush star told the BBC: "Suffering comes from denial of our inevitably of death - we all have an expiration death. "If you were told you had 200 years guaranteed you'd become more complacent and reckless. The idea that life can be taken away at any second is a beautiful reminder to appreciate every moment." Hemsworth hopes that he can educate others about Alzheimer's after learning that he is at significant risk of the disease - which robs sufferers of their memories. He said: "That warning sign was further motivation to take care of myself. "It also felt like a great opportunity to offer up education and a better understanding for people navigating it as Alzheimer's is something a lot of people face."
