Inside Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship amid rumours they've split up

Metro25-06-2025
Katy Perry and husband-to-be Orlando Bloom's relationship has been surrounded by reports of a split in recent months.
Orlando, 48, and Katy, 40, have been together since 2016, and have been engaged for the last six years after the Lord of the Rings star popped the question with a gorgeous ruby ring in 2019.
However, the couple has been surrounded by breakup rumours as of late, with fans spotting that Katy has ditched her engagement ring in recent public appearances.
Reports have suggested that the couple has split, with Orlando set to attend Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding solo, with Katy on her Lifestimes world tour.
From their first meeting at a fast food restaurant, to welcoming their daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, we take a look inside Katy and Orlando's love story…
The Teenage Dream singer and Pirates of the Caribbean actor first met at a Golden Globes afterparty in January 2016 after feeling peckish following the star-studded ceremony.
'I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out,' Katy explained. 'We were at the Golden Globes and we weren't together.
'I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!''
Orlando, who is eight years older than Katy, revealed that he wasn't 'overly familiar with her artistic endeavours' when they first met.
The Troy actor had previously been married to Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr, who he shares son Flynn, 12, with, while Katy was married to actor Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
Katy and Orlando made their relationship public in May 2016 after attending the Cannes Film Festival together. The singer posted a photo of herself and he new love interest laying on the steps of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France alongside the caption: 'We cannes't'.
The new couple made headlines that year as they were snapped by paparazzi paddle boarding while on holiday in Italy, with the moment turning viral after Orlando was pictured completely naked during the activity.
'It was extremely surprising,' he told Elle UK. 'I wouldn't have put myself in that position if I'd thought it would happen. I've been photographed a million times in a million ways. I have a good radar.'
The couple has not confirmed or denied their split, but has continued to show a united front as parents, with Orlando supporting Katy during her Blue Orign space mission with their daughter.
The couple has rarely been seen together since then, likely because the popstar is in the middle of her world tour.
Earlier this month, a source told People that the relationship has been deteriorating for some time and 'isn't looking good.'
They added, 'They're pretty much done,' and suggested reconciliation may not be likely.
Katy revealed that she and Orlando split for 10 months in February 2017, and recalled how the brief breakup 'saved her life'.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the pop star explained: 'We weren't really in it from day one. He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions.'
'I was like, 'I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond.' But, I had to do a lot of real work,' she explained.
Orlando went on to stay at a retreat called The Hoffman Experience, with Katy then noticing a shift in their relationship which ultimately caused them to split.
'He went there, and he wasn't playing that cat-mouse game anymore,' she said. 'And I was like, 'This is boring. I'm moving on.' I was so used to this push-pull. Because once you have it. I was playing games.'
Katy then also decided to go on the retreat herself, which is credited with 'helping participants to identify negative behaviours, moods, and ways of thinking that developed unconsciously and were conditioned in childhood.'
'I finally went to Hoffman towards the end of that year that we were separated, and I got the tools,' the Roar hitmaker revealed. 'We spoke the same language.'
Katy has also revealed that she's a big fan of couple's therapy, telling Chelsea Handler on her podcast that they have 'resentment issues'.
'Your partners usually see your best and your worst sides because they are there to be your mirrors,' she said.
'Orlando and I do couple's therapy. And we love it because it just keeps us in tune.'
One year after their Valentine's Day proposal back in 2019, Katy and Orlando announced that they were expecting their first child together.
The pop star shared the happy news in her music video for Never Worn White, which ends with a clip of her wearing a sheer dress while caressing her baby bump.
'They are of course, thrilled about the baby,' a source told PEOPLE at the time.
In August 2020, the couple announced the arrival of their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, via UNICEF, a charity that they are both Goodwill Global Ambassadors for. The post showed a black and white photo of the newborn holding Orlando's finger while Katy held her wrist.
'We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,' the post read.
They added that they had a 'peaceful birth' and asked fans to donate to UNICEF so that, 'every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare.'
Discussing motherhood the following year, Katy explained: 'It's just the best in the world. It's the game-changer. My heart is so full, finally.'
According to Forbes, Katy is now one of the richest self-made artists in America and is worth a whopping £257 million after selling her music rights to Carlyle-backed Litmus Music in 2023 for £170 million. More Trending
As well as her own music career, Katy appears as a judge on American Idol and cashed in from a 32-show Las Vegas residency in 2021. She also owns a non-alcoholic apéritif brand named De Soi.
Meanwhile, Orlando is reported to be worth £30 million thanks to an impressive career in TV and film.
Metro has reached out to Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's representatives.

The Spanish town where it's illegal to die on weekends

The small town of Albarracin in Spain attracts visitors with its medieval architecture, while Peniscola, located on the east coast, featured in Game Of Thrones. Spain has plenty of towns with unique features, but there's one that has a particularly unexpected detail. Lanjaron can be found in the province of Granada, by the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The municipality has a population of around 3,600. While it might look like a quaint and picturesque area, the town has one bizarre characteristic - dying there on weekends is 'banned'. That's been the case since 1999, when the mayor at the time, Jose Rubio, declared the new rule. It was in response to the town's cemetery being too overcrowded for souls to get decent eternal rest. At the time, the area's 4,000 residents were advised to remain alive while municipal officials shopped for land to house a new graveyard. The Spanish mayor issued an edict ordering people 'to take utmost care of their health so they do not die until town hall takes the necessary steps to acquire land suitable for our deceased to rest in glory'. It reportedly added: 'It is hereby forbidden to die in Lanjaron.' However, it's unclear if a new burial site was ever found. According to Deseret News, Mayor Rubio claimed at the time that locals took the order well. 'Everyone has taken the edict with a sense of humour and a strong desire to comply with it,' he reportedly said. The area is known for other notable characteristics too, including its 'medicinal' waters and spa resort. Lanjoran produces renowned natural mineral water that comes from the Salud spring, which has been bottled up and sold for centuries. Lanjoran isn't the only place to 'ban' death. In 2008, the mayor of the French village of Sarpourenx issued a decree banning residents from dying in his territory unless they owned a spot in the overcrowded cemetery. Mayor Gerard Lalanne warned that there would be a 'severe punishment' for offenders. He told AFP that he decided to take the radical measure in protest against a legal ruling preventing him from enlarging the burial ground in the village of 260 people. There is no word on whether Lalanne's wishes were ever granted.

The tragic plane crash that changed Ozzy Osbourne's life: How Black Sabbath singer 'never got over' the death of guitarist pal Randy Rhoads in fireball tragedy that claimed three lives

In the early 1980s Ozzy Osborne's tour of the United States became associated with one of the most shocking incidents in the history of rock and roll. During the era of arena tours bands were associated with outlandish stunts, throwing televisions out of hotel windows and driving cars into atriums and swimming pools. However this incident involved a fatal air crash and nearly killed claimed the lives of Ozzy, his then partner Sharon and the rest of the band. The fireball cut short the life of 25–year–old Randy Rhoads, said to have been a genius in the mould of Eddie Van Halen and Keith Richards. Rhoads, a precocious talent, was hired by Ozzy to join his new band following the Birmingham man's departure from Black Sabbath. But as they set out on the tour bus driven by Andrew Aycock, little did they know the horror that lay ahead. Everything seemed fine until a routine fault developed with the bus's air conditioning system, prompting Andrew to stop at the Flying Baron estates near Orlando in Florida, where he hoped to get the fault fixed. Andrew, who had a pilot's licence, asked band's manager, Jake Duncan and keyboardist Don Airey to join him on a flight in a stolen plane when he decided to buzz the tour bus as a prank to wait anyone who was sleeping. The driver then landed the stolen plane, but decided on a second flight. On this journey he was joined by Rhoads, who boarded the Beech F35 despite a fear of flying. Rachel Youngblood, a makeup artist and hairdresser, also boarded the plane. Airey, the sole witness to the incident, said that he saw the Beachcraft approaching the tour bus at a very low altitude. At this point Don became concerned that the plane might hit him, so he threw himself to the ground. One of the craft's wings then clipped the bus, at which point it flipped over and collided with a colonial era mansion. The pilot and two passengers all died in the ensuing fireball, and had to be identified through dental records and jewellery they were wearing. A report in the New York Times read:'The lead guitarist of the rock group headed by Ozzy Osbourne was killed today, along with two other persons, when a plane in which they were buzzing a mansion struck a van and crashed into the house, the authorities said. 'Randall Rhodes, 25 years old, the guitarist; Andrew Aycock, 36, identified as the pilot, and Rachel Youngblood, 58, were killed in the crash, Deputy Sheriff Mike Smalt of Lake County said. 'Mr. Osbourne, known for such outrageous stage antics as biting off the head of a live bat, was in the van when one of the plane's wings clipped it but escaped injury, the deputy sheriff said. 'Several other members of the group were in the two–story colonial house, but fled before it was destroyed by flaming gasoline. 'The group was staying at the mansion before a concert appearance that was to be held today in Leesburg but fled before it was destroyed by flaming gasoline. 'The group was staying at the mansion before a concert appearance that was to be held today in Leesburg.' Speaking to Rolling Stone about the crash which claimed three lives, Ozzy said: 'To this day, as I'm talking to you now, I'm back in that field looking at this f***** plane wreck and a house on fire.' 'You never get over something like that. You're in shock.' Ozzy wanted to abandon the tour, but Sharon is said to have reminded of him of the age old dictum that the 'show must go on' The tour did continue, only for a second incident which nearly claimed Sharon's life at New York's Madison Square Garden. A fan threw a firework on stage, which bounded around and then hit Sharon on the neck and then exploded, leaving her on the floor in a pool of blood. At this point the lights went on and Ozzy had to perform. Bernie Tormé, who was drafted in to replace Rhoads, recounted the incident to Rolling Stone. Mr Tormé, who once played with Deep Purple, said: 'Someone in the audience chucks a firework or something, which does the impossible and bounces under the [scrim] and hits Sharon in the neck, where it explodes — boom — right in front of me. She goes down like a rag doll — blood everywhere — two crew guys run out and pick her up and she's gone. 'There was just a pool of blood left. I seriously thought she was dead. But the thing was, I was the only one in the band who could see any of this happening. 'No one in the band knows about what happened, and there's no chance to tell Ozzy. It's not like a Rolling Stones gig where Keith can stroll up to Mick and say, "Hey, man, I think your old lady's taken incoming." 'I was more than a bit distracted for the first half of the show until one of the crew signaled to me that she was OK.' A subsequent report by the National Transportation Safety Board later found that the aircrash which claimed three lives was due to 'pilot error'. The board deemed the plane to have been 'stolen' by Aycock in that he did not have permission to fly it. The report read: 'The pilot, who was a rock group driver, took an aircraft from the hangar without permission to joy ride members of the group. 'During the second flight the aircraft wing hit the bus during one of several low passes over the area. The aircraft then hit a tree and a residence. A post crash fire occurred. The pilot's last medical certificate was dated 11/16/79.'
